This private peninsula was initially a retreat for advertising guru Peter Clarke and his wife Charisse. In the 1990's they created a private retreat for others to enjoy this exceptional property with them. The property maintains the retreat appeal with just six well-spaced villas, a spa house, and the onsite manager's cottage. Sensational views, tranquillity and comfort from each villa were paramount in the development. From the moment you make a booking, the managers and Charisse will assist you in getting the best of what Norfolk has to offer.

We have just completed a 7 night stay in Villa 4 and it was great. The room was very spacious and clean. There is no air conditioning as it’s not needed, the bathroom (with bath and shower) was large and hairdryer was provided. The separate laundry was fully equipped with the basics. Great balcony to sit and watch the birds and sea looking toward Kingston and the historic buildings. Full kitchen -although we didn’t realy use anything except the fridge kettle and pod coffee maker. We brought with us a box of breakfast cereal and some UHT milk, which was a godsend. The villas are about a 10 minute drive on a bumpy road to town. So would have been a pain every day to drive in for Brekky every day.

We stayed in the Tree House Villa, which was suitable for 2 couples. Very, very clean, well set out upstairs and downstairs. The views were beautiful looking through the Norfolk pines to Creswell Bay. The bedrooms were very private, and both had a large modern bathroom. The shower was excellent. The storage in the bedrooms were well thought out for travelling. Place for your bags, and the hanging and shelving space in the cupboard was more than ample for 2 persons in each room. A pedestal fan could have been used if the nights had been hotter. The bedrooms are so private we slept with the windows wide open allowing the cool breeze in. We cooked our meals each night, using the BBQ, oven and stove top. There is a microwave too. There is a laundry and a dishwasher. The upstairs has a great view and when it was not windy we sat outside for evening drinks and snacks. It was great to collect the fresh fruit each morning Allan puts in the fruit cage. The bananas were so sweet as grown on the property. Allan and Kerry are the best managers! They met us at the exit of the airport, took us to the hire car and we followed them back to the accommodation. Kerry showed us the villa and explained things etc. They both helped us with a flat tyre, even giving us a phone so we could contact the hire car owners. I left some jewellery at the villa on leaving and Kerry had it when we rushed back. She was going to bring it to the airport if we had not come back for it. Just fabulous service. We also loved it was out of Burnt Pine in a tranquil quiet area but very close to everthing. 5km.. You do need to hire a car to stay here.

After researching Norfolk Island accommodation reviews we decided on booking Shearwater Villas for our 7 night visit. Pre trip the communication was excellent with all questions answered and recommendations given. We were met by the managers Kerry and Allan at the airport as soon as we came out of the terminal. They gave us assistance with locating our hire car and then led the way to our location. We had a very spacious one bedroom villa which had magnificent views from both the bedroom and lounge room/kitchen. The large balcony was an added bonus. It was spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything - microwave, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and cooktop. The bathroom had a seperate bath and shower. The bedroom was quite large with great storage and a very comfortable king sized bed. There is also a laundry with washing machine and an outdoor clothesline near out entry door. Preparing and eating our meals at the villa was an absolute joy, taking in the peaceful ambience of the views that surrounded us which included an abundance of birdlife. An added bonus was being able to walk outside and walk further down the point for added views. Location was great - apart from the views (have I mentioned the views?) we were less than a 5 minute drive to the main township of Burnt Pine. Unfortunately we only had two fine days during or stay. There was constant rain on the other days. This made our choice of accommodation even more valuable than we had envisaged. Having such a wonderful aspect of the island from within our villa certainly saved our sanity. It certainly would have been different if we were stuck in a motel room with zero views and nothing to detract from the weather. Although the weather was against us we still managed to see and experience a lot of Norfolk Island, which included seeing and holding the Commonwealth Games torch on the one day that it came to Norfolk Island and attending the free launch of a wonderful film at the local theatre, entitled "Chasing the Light". This featured Ray Martin and well known photographer Ken Duncan and sponsored by Australian Tourism. Ken and Ray were there in person and provided an insight into the making of the film. On our last morning I even managed to taken a photo of the Milky Way directly outside our accommodation at 4:00am. For a period of 30 minutes It was the only cloudless night sky during our entire stay but certainly highlighted Norfolk Island's reputation of star gazing. Perhaps we can experience more of this on our next visit. I would thoroughly recommend Shearwater Villas.

Kerry and Alan made this stay epic. The location is spectacular; perched on the cliffs on Rocky Point, overlooking Bumbora beach and Cresswel Bay and 10 minutes walk to Crystal Pool, only on the right low tide, the fully self contained villas with BBQ and deck are magic. You are about 5-7 minutes drive from shops or the Homestead Restaurant or Puppies Point for sunset over ocean. Bring a book and your chillness and culinary smarts. The hosts have a pen they load with fresh fruit in season so we grazed on avocados and used banana leaf to wrap our BBQd trumpeter fish. Come for chill and nature and you will love it.

We were welcomed by Allan and Kerry at the airport and guided to Shearwater Villas which took our breath away with it's location and the quality of the facilities. It's hard to imagine a better outlook - the gardens have been beautifully maintained and blend wonderfully with the natural surroundings. Exceeded all expectations and look forward to returning again.

What a gem this accomodation was. 10 minutes by car from Burnt Pine. You must have a car which enables you to travel the island. We requested views and we had a gorgeous view across to Kingston and down to Bomboras Beach. Our villa was extremely roomy, recently refurbed and spotlessly clean. The managers met us at the airport and we followed them to our accommodation. They were attentive and supplied us with eggs from the free roaming chickens and 2 ripe pawpaws during our stay. Bunches of bananas were available to help yourself. Kitchen enables self catering and a bonus, your own laundry for washing. The area is quiet except for the bird calls and soft noise of the sea. There are 5 villas onsite and each has their own privacy and same amazing views. What an idillic site.

My Wife and I stayed at Shearwater villa 4 for 11 days over Christmas. Managers Adrian and Caroline met us at the airport, helped with pick up of our hire car and escorted us to Shearwater, giving us a rundown of the town of Burnt pine on the way via a two way radio and helping with luggage on arival. What a beautiful place! The vilas are very spacious with a full and well equiped kitchen, laundry, lounge dining, large bedroom and balcony wwhich provided a beautiful view across a bay to the Kingston convict ruins. Thank you to Caroline and Adrian for a most pleasant stay. they even gave us a bottle of bubbly and a small cake and rumballs for Christmas, as well as avacodos and bananas grown on the property. A great place to relax and unwind. All villas have a great view, but perhaps the two at the front of the property may be a little better given their position, but you wouldn't be dissapointed with any villa. We would love to stay again if we get the opertunity.

Firstly, the view was simply magnificent. The villas sit high and overlook Slaughter Bay and the historic precinct. Huge Norfolk pines are constantly filled with white terns who show off their aerial abilities, wedge-trailed shearwater and black noddys. We stayed in Villa 5 (probably the best one for views) which was extremely large and open and delightfully spacious. The kitchen had all the amenities and the deck even had a bbq that enabled us to cook outside and enjoy the view. We encountered a slight issue and it was dealt with promptly and efficiently. We highly recommend this accommodation for a stay on Norfolk Island!!

Superb accommodation, everything you could want is provided, and the view of the island coast and across to the World Heritage Kingston area is just breathtaking. The on-site manager could not be more helpful and will provide advice to make your stay on Norfolk enjoyable and memorable. We had stayed here on our previous visit to Norfolk many years ago and had no hesitation in booking again. It was every bit as good as we remember. I highly recommend this outstanding accommodation provider.

The Front Row is one of a kind. A luxury self-contained apartment with your own pool, that still managed to feel like home. The views were breath-taking from every room, and the 180 degree views from the spacious front yard (especially of historic Kingston) were incredible. The country surrounds were incredibly peaceful and the owner Charisse and managers, Kerry and Allan were welcoming and always there to provide whatever help we needed. Definitely a holiday we will never forget
