As the title says, a fantastic time was had at Farm Lodge. Had a meal for two which (with alcohol) only came to £85 for 5 courses! Food was, as ever, spot on - pate to start, a fish course to follow (lovely fresh Grouper), then a palette-cleansing sorbet, followed by a superbly cooked Beef Wellington and finally rounded off...

This place is amazing. Maureen is a fantastic cook and Stephen a great host. Get either of them talking about St Helena and settle in for a very enjoyable time. Our room was very comfortable. A bonus were the challenging running circuits around the hotel. Note this is in the country side, so make sure you book a car; but...

My Wife and I Stayed here for 8 nights in March/April. It was a wonderful setting and building and our hostess Maureen was excellent. However Stephen spoilt the whole experience for us by being in our faces all the time, continually talking about his own finances and gave the impression that he was trying to get as much as possible...

Our son Euan (19) is currently a crew member of Sailing Yacht Upchuck & are sailing from Cape Horn to Scotland. They have just had a stop over in St Helena & the night before they left treated themselves to dinner. My wife and I stayed at the Farm Lodge for eight memorable nights in January/February 2016. This was the second half of our stay on St Helena, the first half having been spent down in the town of Jamestown. First and very positive impressions of the Farm Lodge, a lovingly restored planter's house, developed into a deep liking for the...

The drive from the seafront to Farm Lodge takes in wonderful views from the alpine-style road, with its hairpin bends and passing places reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands. As you climb higher the banks are filled with lush vegetation, ferns and tropical flowers. The hotel itself seems like an 18th-century time capsule, with its polished floorboards and collection of antique...

If someone told you about a hotel that had 24 (now 25) reviews on TripAdvisor all with five stars, you would wonder how that was possible - especially on an island in the middle of the Atlantic. Surely someone would mark it down a bit? Or not enjoy it at all? But Farm Lodge deserves every one of its 120...

Farm Lodge is THE place to stay. Maureen and Steve have toiled hard over years to make this place special. A colonial plantation building, rich in heritage, it is beautifully kept with spotless rooms, shiny polished floors, beautiful antiques, manicured lawns, and gardens with banana groves, ponds, sheep, chickens, cliffs, and stunning floral displays. And a lovely dog, Katie! Seated...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Stephen, Maureen and Katy (the dog), welcome you to St Helena Island and of course to our home, Farm Lodge Country House. We hope you will enjoy your stay with us. Below are some general points of information regarding the house and service. If you have any other queries or requests, please do not hesitate to ask us. Fire: The rooms, corridors and stairways in the main house are fitted with fire and smoke detectors. There are two break-glass alarms, one at the top of the stairs next to room 1, and the other is situated in the entrance hall, by the rear door. Emergency lights are fitted throughout the house and will come on automatically in the event of a power failure. Alarm bells: are situated on the top landing and in the entrance hall. In the event of an emergency or on hearing these bells please evacuate the house by way of the front or back doors to the courtyard as soon as possible where a role call will be taken. Should the main stairs be blocked, please use the windows from any of the rooms to gain access to the lower roof. Emergencies: As in the UK, the emergency telephone number is 999 for Police, Fire Brigade and Ambulance. If you telephone from here, you are at Farm Lodge Hotel, Rosemary Plain, telephone no 24040. At anytime there should be a member of staff close at hand but if you can't find anyone please ring the ship's bell by the front door. No Smoking: In September 2012 a No Smoking Law was passed for all public buildings, so please be aware that it is against the law to smoke in the public areas and bedrooms of the house. Smoking is allowed in front of the veranda and in the cottage on the lawn. Mealtimes: We have no strict mealtimes and are flexible to our guests' needs but suggest, as a guide, breakfast at 8.00 am, luncheon at 1.00 pm and dinner at 7.30 pm. Early morning tea and coffee may be served in your room and packed lunches can be arranged if you are touring. Please just let us know what you require. Menus: We would like to treat you as houseguests, and do not have a menu as such but will suggest a choice of dishes to you in the morning for you to enjoy at dinner. If you have any special dietary requests will you please inform us soonest as the island is restricted in what it can offer. Bar Hours: We have a reasonably comprehensive stock of spirits, wines and beers; these are available at anytime on request. Wine cards for your daily spending will be delivered to your room each evening and your account can be settled before departure. Valuables: Although there is little crime on the island, we cannot accept any responsibility for valuables. - However, guests are welcome to use the house safe. Electricity: The Island's power is 220/240 volts - British standard square pin plugs are used throughout the house and there are 220/110 v razor sockets in the bathrooms. ... more   less
