My family stayed to attend a wedding across the street at the Amherst Woman's garden club. Our stay was wonderful. Check in was simple, our room very nice, beds comfortable. Also having central ac and each room with it's own bathroom is a bonus in a historic inn. We were able to walk to the wedding and also into the... More

This review is long over due. My daughter and I were in Amherst having a tour and visit of Amherst College as well as looking at the other school in the area. This was a very quaint place to stay. Breakfast is cooked to order on weekdays and a nice plentiful buffet on the weekend. It was perfect to walk... More

My husband and I stayed in this lovely inn while attending a wedding in Amherst. The inn is a beautifully restored home built in the 1800s with very high ceilings and nicely decorated. I was especially impressed with the choice of wallpapers and with the owner's (Pam) stenciling job in the front hall. Our room, the Napoleon, was large and... More

For unforeseen reasons, I ended up staying at the Amherst Inn twice in one week and I am so glad I did. This place was a real respite. Quiet and beautifully restored, you can feel like you are in another era, a slower and more thoughtful time. Yet it is not historic at the expense of comfort. Very comfy, and... More

The Amherst inn is a roomy Victorian house a short stroll from Amherst's charming little downtown. Across the street is the Emily Dickinson house museum. My room was on the second floor with two queen/double beds, a complete ensuite bathroom and plenty of room. The decorations in my room had a country feel, but other rooms I peeked into were... More

A one-of-a-kind experience in an atmospheric, cozy, one-of-a-kind Victorian home. Extremely gracious hosts. Came here just before a meditation retreat. It will make you want to return -- we were in the stately (but not stuffy) Turret Room and could see Emily Dickinson's bedroom windows from our window! Highly recommended.

After a horrible experience in Barnstable, this place restored my faith in B&B's! Beautifully decorated, this amazing property could not be better located and is very comfortable. Makes you feel right at home on the porch overlooking Emily Dickinson's Homestead. The breakfast was good, the rooms were clean and this house is fabulous!

I really wanted to like this place. It was a splurge for me and my college-age daughter and we were seduced by the gorgeous photos and descriptions on the website. Unfortunately, despite the beauty of the inn--and the attention to modern comforts like air conditioning, WiFi, and TV's--we found our rooms uncomfortable, the breakfast underwhelming and the service, while personable,... We are very sorry the noise from our fan on a lower floor was noisy for you in our loft. That problem has never occurred before, and we want you to know how sorry we are. I needed to to have a conversation with my guest on the second floor so I could fix a problem that we were unaware... More

Historic bed and breakfast with modern amenities and generous breakfast. Hosts and housekeeper most accommodating. Three-minutes walk from the shops and restaurants in downtown Amherst. Breakfast conversations with other guests were fascinating and very international. Perhaps the hot water heater could be a tad higher even in summer, but the room was very comfortable and I look forward to my... More

I surprisingly found rooms available at my passages in winter and summer, both times a unique B&B experience. What a rare treat to the amateur of beauty and poetry - every detail is a trip through history and time, with every contemporary comfort. But I'd rather keep this a well-kept secret.
