If you wish to spend an evening in Amherst or environs, this bed and breakfast is a good choice. The "Emily Dickenson" (I think) suite we were given is part of an historical building. It is old-fashioned and very comfortable: large rooms, wooden floors, large kitchen, living room with T.V. and books available. English muffins, cereals, orange juice, coffee and... More

Love this place. Excellent location, a quiet street in the busy center of Amherst. Quirky in all the right ways, almost rustic, but very private and lovely. Breakfast is hearty continental and help yourself when you like. Rooms named for some of the owner's favorite authors.

Just here for 2 nights with friends. We were all in the carriage house. They had the loft room which was fabulous. It's a large, airy, comfortable and clean room. It got a lovely cross-breeze at night. The bathroom was small, but clean. We had the basement room which was mostly clean, but rather chilly. I say mostly, because the... More

The "Katherine" room is on the first floor of the carriage house, convenient to the kitchen/living area. It is bright and airy with sliding glass doors onto the garden and patio. Easy walk to downtown Amherst and public transportation. I had a private bath with attractive red and earth tone tiles. Breakfast is do-it-yourself continental but ample choices--and fruit and... A little hard to find, but very good. I had a suite: bedroom, kitchen, sitting room with tv, bathroom all to myself. All the fixings for breakfast were in the fridge or cabinet, with table set for breakfast, a DIY affair, meaning no common breakfast with other guests, and no set time to eat. Very good (hard mattress) bed. Two... More

Emily's is charming but you have to be prepared to take it for what it is. Rather than a hotel, mily's feels like a kind Pioneer Valley hippy has opened her quaint home to you and doesn't think you need much privacy. Even the reservation process, which required that we correspond with Emily by actual mail (!) was a throw... More

We (three Amherst College alums) stayed in the carriage house and it was just so cute. Great wide open space, with lots of windows and natural lighting. There are 3 beds (one double and two singles) and plenty of seating space and a desk if you need to work. The breakfast is continental style and they take only cash, but... More

Emily's is a great place to stay. However, if you're into slick boutique hotels or you want the heavy on the chintz, hostess in a frilly apron making fresh pancakes every morning type of New England B&B experience, than perhaps Emily's is not the place for you. It's more a home away from home. There's no fancy cooked breakfast but... More

If you enjoy spiders in your bathroom, mosquitoes and ants in your room, old mattresses, rock-hard 20-year-old pillows, blankets with rips in them, dust bunnies everywhere, stale supermarket-bought muffins masquerading as "breakfast", then by all means stay at this B&B! On the positive side, the owner is very nice, the garden is lovely and it's steps away from Amherst attractions.

We had a wonderful time staying at Emily's. We stayed on the carriage house, Katherine's room. It is a quiet place. Good beds, good breakfast, you won't regret a stay here! Room was a bit noisy but no different from most hotels we stayed. Ryanne en Sven from Holland
