#1 of 23 B&Bs / Inns in Annapolis
Travelers' Choice
GreenLeaders Bronze level
Safety First: We are following national & state guidelines, and industry best practices. We live on site, so we have a direct interest in staying clean and safe. We believe a small B&B can stay much more clean and safe than a larger facility. Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you! Marty & Carmel Etzel, Owners We are the only accommodation in downtown Annapolis with free parking & breakfast with owners living on site. Centrally located in downtown Annapolis, Flag House Inn is within one of the largest private homes near the waterfront. Originally two Victorian townhouses, Flag House was restored in the early 90's, and now includes free on-site parking (rare!). You get the privacy of an inn, the modern amenities of a luxury hotel, with the friendliness of a bed and breakfast. The inn is the closest accommodation to the US Naval Academy, (across from main entrance) you could not be any closer unless you were inside the base! Enjoy a fresh home cooked hot breakfast, before setting off to explore this beautiful and historic town. Your hosts are pleased to make personalized recommendations so you can further enhance your experience, whether it is dining or things to do. The front porch flies your state or national flags of guests. The entrance opens into splendid interiors filled with naval and nautical art and memorabilia, fine paintings, antiques, and reproductions. Flag House offers five comfortable king or twin bed guest rooms, including a two-room suite, each with private bath, hi speed wi-fi, air conditioning and HD cable TV.

We were looking for a night away over the holidays, and the Flag House Inn was just the thing! The Commodore Room was lovely - we enjoyed a nice walk for a great dinner at the Boatyard. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Hi Julie, thanks for the nice words. You hit a lot of the highlights in one night - Boatyard is our fave, such good value and guests love the Commodore room, very "classic" ... all our rooms have a unique personality... Anyway, we loved getting your group in for a short getaway and would indeed love to see you again

We’ve visited Annapolis a number of times in the past and always settled into one of the chain hotels on the outskirts, having to endure the mess of traffic and limited parking in order to enjoy this fun small city. We chose the Flag House this time to avoid all that and for a more personal experience for our one-night stay en route to Maryland’s Eastern shore. WHAT WAS GOOD: First, Marty and Carmel are excellent hosts who are welcoming, friendly, communicative and informative. I especially appreciated the pre-check-in inquiries on coffee preferences, breakfast times, parking instructions, etc. They’re very skilled hosts and really nice people….There’s no way you can beat the location in the center of Annapolis, on a relatively quiet side street yet steps from the harbor and Main Street, with endless dining, shops and sights within easy walking distance. And, of course, entry to the USNA is right across the street….I know from experience that parking in downtown Annapolis can be a nightmare. Being able to park and walk is a great plus….Breakfasts are an event here. We were served a fresh fruit starter and muffin followed by an unusual hot entrée consisting of garden vegetables, sausage and poached eggs. Kale and broccoli are a little weird to me to start the day but the dish was very good and clearly meticulously prepared….We stayed in the Commodore Room, which, despite a dark red wallpaper motif, was bright, airy, spacious and very comfortable. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER: Nothing of consequence. THINGS TO KNOW: Parking is tight, so the smaller the car the better. We needed to wedge our standard sized SUV at the top of the narrow driveway for the night. Tricky but convenient nonetheless….You can walk to literally anything in downtown Annapolis. Water taxis are also just a five-minute walk. BOTTOM LINE: I can’t imagine a more convenient, comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation in downtown Annapolis with such personable hosts.

Hi WRC, we remember you from a week or two ago :-) ...thank you SO much for the super detailed review and nice compliments. You really nailed it, naming some of our best features such as include parking, breakfast and great location... Yes, it's a little tight to park but as you say once you get here, most people don't drive again until it's time to go home... and we can always park the car and tote the bags for our guests as well. And all guests get our insights and recommendations for best experiences in Annapolis We're glad you enjoyed our Farmstand Bowl, it's a fresh take on potatoes, eggs and sausage... we really hope you can stay again with us as you pass through the Land of Pleasant Living :-)
