My daughter and I visited Bates College (Lewiston) and stayed at the Munroe Inn (Auburn - twin city). Because we were visiting after Columbus Day, we had the place to ourselves - it was incredibly peaceful. We stayed in the Maria Suite which is quite a large room. The bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom quite spacious, the decor eclectic. There was a parking space next to the inn. A grocery store is within walking distance. Bates is about a 8-10 minute drive away. Best of all was Olga's fantastic breakfast. We had delicious greek yogurt and homemade jam, a homemade pastry, eggs scrambled with bok choy and fresh tomatoes (as Olga said, Asian style), fresh apple cider with ginger, and French-pressed coffee. Olga also kindly washed my jeans and shirt (I had spilled Thai sauce on them the night before.) I was very grateful for her extra help. My original plan was to stay one night at the Inn and then the second night in Portland to catch a 6AM flight, but the Portland hotel options were not appealing in comparison to the tranquility of the Munroe Inn. We opted to stay a second night and leave early from the Inn. (Note - best to leave by 4AM to catch a 6AM flight in Portland.) If my daughter ends up going to Bates, I'm sure the Munroe Inn will be our go-to when visiting her. Thank you Olga for such a pleasant stay!…
Olga is a great hostess! The house is beautiful! Quiet neighborhood. Felt very safe. The room was spacious and inviting. Bed was comfy. Olga cooked shakshouka for breakfast! Breakfast included homemade juice, bread and jam. Thank you for a great stay!
Enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. Olga was a great host. Breakfast was exceptional. Beautiful vintage decor in a very spacious inn. Cannot recommend highly enough. Quiet neighborhood with restaurants and grocery store very nearby.
What a lovely place, wonderful Victorian-style cottage with stylist furnishings makes you good about being there, good location and friendly dog greets you. Note it is not for those of limited physical means, no elevator and there are steep stairs. Also wouldn't do for anyone looking to stay up late and party in their room.
Stayed in the Horace room. Nice Victorian style room with Roku TV, comfy bed and Immaculate décor. $150+ tax with optional $11 breakfast. Olga, the owner was very friendly and accomodating. I looked at other options in the L-A area but this property was by far the best deal in the area. Close to Downtown Auburn and Lewiston.
I think this may have been my first time staying at an actual Bed & Breakfast, and it was a lovely experience! Check in was super easy, the host was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. The breakfast the next morning was AWESOME, totally worth it rather than going in town. The room was clean, the bathroom was great and everything had a really great vintage/antique vibe.
We were visiting family in the area recently and decided to stay here because the reviews were so strong. At first, we were going to book a notional hotel chain but we decided that it seemed so boring compared to the reviews of the Munroe. Our stay at the Munroe turned out to be so much better. Olga is the perfect host and the architecture of the building is just amazing - it is like staying in a museum. The bathrooms a super clean and recently updated. We are looking forward to staying with Olga again soon.
Step back in time and enjoy this beautiful Victorian home and a standard of care from a more gracious epoch. Our stay was restful - with a comfortable bed in a quiet room. Breakfast was amazing! We had a Korean omelet and homemade bread, local yogurt, and juice with regionally-foraged ingredients. And good coffee. The home has been lovingly curated and includes art and ornaments from around the world. Interiors are original and and include authentic period furnishings. The B&B is in a neighborhood which is safe, quiet, and close to downtown (a few minutes’ walk), with a private parking area. Olga offered recommendations for restaurants and activities, and I wish we could have stayed longer.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Munroe Inn with my fiancee. I booked the stay as a birthday present to her, so we'd have an opportunity to get out of the house and I'm so glad I did! Olga was extremely welcoming and gracious, the house is gorgeous, and the breakfast Olga prepared on both days was absolutely delightful! If you should book a stay (and I recommend that you do), if she asks if you want a traditional breakfast or something more adventurous, choose the latter! You won't be disappointed! This is the perfect place for a couple to get away from everything for a couple of nights and just relax and enjoy each other's company.
What a gem in Auburn, Maine! This bed and breakfast was recommended to me by some of my employees for a work trip. It did not disappoint! The house is old and eclectic, making it much more interesting than any of the hotels nearby, not to mention more affordable as well. There were live plants in each room plus tons of unique furniture pieces that made the house so welcoming. Olga, the innkeeper, was so helpful and kind. Her daughters were also a pleasure to meet and their dog, Hurricane, was so sweet! I believe I stayed in the Maria room, which had a fun canopy bed and was incredibly spacious! Everything was quite clean and very comfortable. I only had time for one breakfast, but it was well made and delicious! As it is a B&B and not a hotel, there is a community mini-fridge in the dining room to keep any food. We were also welcome to use the microwave in the kitchen. Additionally, an electric kettle is available with teas and beautiful china! About 5 minutes away you'll find the downtown area with some great options for food and drink. My favorites were Forage and Break for coffee, Boba for food, and Sonder & Dram for cocktails. Needless to say, I had a wonderful stay. My only regret is that I didn't book longer sooner and had to finish my trip in a hotel, but I would definitely return if I come back to Lewiston! Thanks for the incredible hospitality, The Munroe Inn!…
