For under 200 USD the best hotel value in several years at this property. The double queen bed room needed better lighting to read in bed, a shower head fixed so it would stay in place, and turndown service provided when it was requested, but the room was unbelieveably quiet, the staff was exceptional, the free breakfast superb, and I would go back for a few days of chillin'.
We would give this hotel 10 stars if we could- fantastic experience all the way around! Each staff member was super friendly and welcoming and truly happy that you were there. The doorman, front desk, housekeeping, pool bar staff and breakfast workers all were wonderful! The breakfast buffet is not one to miss- fresh flowers on the tables, coffee, tea, juices, tons of fruit, breads, yogurts, made to order omelettes, hot dishes , cereals , granolas - you name it was there and everyone was pleasant to help ! Room was clean and nice- plenty of towels and bottles of water to drink. Hotel was happy to store our bags even before we checked in while we were on an excursion. Upon arrival several days after dropping our bags they knew our names as soon as we arrived! Staff had great recommendations of a few places within walking distance of the hotel which were very good. We loved this hotel and plan to stay again next time we visit Panama City.. Do not hesitate to book a room here - you will not regret it - we loved it!!!…
Stayed for 2 nights for business. Great room, very well furnished. Small desk area, large tv, great bed. Bathroom was also nice (no tub) and had luxury toiletries. The hotel has a good gym and a small-ish outdoor pool. Breakfast was very good. Only downside of this hotel is that you don't get direct ocean views from your room. Found it to be very good value.
Nice hotel, very upscale and relaxed environment. Friendly staff, and security is always present to ensure you have a safe trip (Flash did an excellent job to oversee the safety of the guest). Great breakfast buffet and excellent bar!. Cool rooftop pool.
This is my second preview of this hotel. My first one was quite unflattering. At the time, I felt it was well deserved. When I arrived, I was very disappointed. I was put on the entire 13th floor and the my room both felt very damp and smelled musty. It was a bit overwhelming to me. I complained and staff did move me to a different floor, 16, room 1611. That floor was much better. More importantly, I was contacted the very next morning by the general manager, Ruben Ferreira who immediately worked to address every one of my concerns. Since that moment he and his staff have gone above, and beyond to make sure that all of my concerns are met and that my stay has been very comfortable. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Mr. Ferreira and his staff. Because of their attention and warm hospitality, I have revised my review from a one star to a four-star. I would stay here again on another visit.…
Great overnight stay. Great helpful staff. Beautiful lobby. Room was superb. Extra cookie treat was a surprise. Extensive breakfast! Nice pool area and fitness center. Great and safe location for walking around. Definitely recommend and would stay here again during another visit. Wish we could have stayed longer!
This hotel’s location was excellent. We walked to many places because the 80% of the things that we wanted to do and see were nearby. The staff was a joy to work with any request that we had. The Concierge (Lilly) and security (Flash) made our stay a joyful experience.
My wife and I spent almost 2 weeks in Panama. We split our trip with the first 4 nights at the Waldorf, then 4 nights in Bocas Del Toro, and back to the Waldorf for the last 4 nights. The first portion was amazing. From check-in to the room to the staff, every part of our stay was great. Where a problem occurred was when we returned. Upon checking back in after being in Bocas for 4 days, we were informed that the pool would be closed for the duration of our stay. Even though we had just been there 4 days prior, we were never told maintenance was scheduled and the pool would be closed. Furthermore, upon being told there would be no pool available, the Waldorf did nothing to compensate us for the loss of the amenity…no discount, not even a complimentary breakfast. Since the use of a pool was a major part of our trip, we ended up changing our plans, checking out of the Waldorf and moving over to the Hilton. The last minute change cost us hundreds of dollars extra and was overall very disappointing. The Waldorf should have notified guests of the pool closure prior to arrival so guests could decide whether to change reservations or not.…
A great name like Waldorf Astoria sets a high expectation. If this were a regular Hilton or Marriott the hotel would have met expectations, but as a top brand no. The facility is worn, old carpets, outdated fancy pants maddening ‘90’s electric switches that don’t all work, outdated TV, WIFi 20mbs but kicked us off network frequently. Good bathroom amenities. Service was friendly and helpful, but not special. Dinner at the restaurant was poor. Lunch at the pool was average. Breakfast average. This is a hotel for a great sleep and solid experience. It was not a special experience worth a detour or much higher price. At $263 per night with taxes it was a fine value.
Panama is beautiful, the people are kind, and the food is fantastic. Staying at the Waldorf Panama put a huge damper on my four day “relax and not lift a finger” vacation away from Chicago winter and life insanity. The staff was incredible (shoutout to Lille and Antonio), but read on for the myriad of issues I had. It was awful from the start. I booked a car to be at the airport when I arrived after a long flight. There was no one to be found, so I emailed the hotel (cellular wasn’t working) only to find the driver had a flat tire and they were sending a new car. I’d been waiting 25 minutes already, and while I know a flat tire can’t be controlled, the driver should have left for the airport sooner, that way, a secondary car could have been sent instead of leaving me in the cold with no notification. When I finally arrived to my room, there was no coffee for the machine and the overflow tray hadn’t been emptied leaving me with a full tray of dirty water, which made me wonder how clean the room was if this hadn’t been noticed. The duvet cover was literally on top of the comforter rather than in it, which is pretty gross. (This was fixed the second night without having to ask.) The paper on the phone with the directory was completely blank; there was a second phone that had problems connecting, but it at least had a directory. I also received notice the pool would be closed on Saturday (day 2 of my stay). I had a catamaran tour that day, so I didn’t mind. The restaurant was also closed for a private event that night, so I had no access to a pool and no access to the restaurant. Room service was available, and the food was fantastic, but why am I paying a full rate at a five star hotel with no access to the most important amenities? When I got home from the catamaran tour that day, I had yet another letter telling me the pool would be closed through the rest of my stay. At this point I am upset. My five star vacation was turning into a disaster thanks to Waldorf. I was given access to the Hilton hotel pool about 5 minutes’ walk away. However, the Hilton is a conference hotel and there must have been something going on because it was impossible to get a chair or a drink. The staff at the Hilton pool were absolute rockstars at dealing with the crowded pool. On day three, I came back from a “Monkey Island” tour (amazing!) to find that the hallways of my floor were being painted. They were very quiet and polite, so it wasn’t as much of a headache as I thought, but here I am again thinking I’m going on a five star vacation only end up in a 5-star hotel with no access to the pool, ongoing maintenance, a dirty room, and limited access to the restaurant. I wish I could’ve come home completely relaxed, but Waldorf made sure that didn’t happen. They offered 30% off 2/3 nights, which was 20% off my total stay. I appreciate the gesture, but it didn’t do much. A hotel with this many issues shouldn’t allow guests to stay or should tell them in advance so they can stay elsewhere. I am done with the Hilton brand.…
