Spent three nights here in July 2022. We had a “renewal” suite king bed. Separate sitting room and two balconies. Has a bathtub oddly situated in the bedroom. And a separate shower and toilet behind a door. Also has a second bathroom in the sitting room. The resort complex is large with a number of pools. Easy to get away from the loud music and “spring break” flavor of the main pool. The beach is nice but Panamanian friends told us no to swim in the water as it’s too close to the city. The resort is rather remote so if you don’t have a car or a friend that can get you you’ll run out of eating options pretty quickly. There is an all-inclusive option which seemed pretty popular. We didn’t go that route as the suite came with club floor access which gave you breakfast in the morning and then appetizers and drinks from 6-8pm. We ate lunch one day in an A la carte restaurant and dinner in the same. Both cost about 50$ for the two of us. Food was decent. And we had the lunch buffet in Oceania which again cost around 50. The hotel is showing its age a bit and things aren’t maintained tremendously well. We had a maintenance issue in our room which was speedily addressed and our K-cup coffee maker didn’t work and had to be swapped out. The 2 k cups that we started with were never replaced. And oddly they only provide paper cups for the coffee. No mugs. If you opt for a suite I would recommend that you clearly articulate if you prefer higher or lower in the building. We didn’t make our wants known and we had a second floor suite and would rather have been higher up in the building.

Beautiful property! Poor service and staff engagement. Restaurants were not open and choices were limited. You would need to leave the property to enjoy your stay. Leaving the property involves taxi trips.....30 mins away from civilization.

Facilities and staff are top notch. Coming from Las Vegas, we are spoiled when it comes to service. The staff at The Westin Playa Bonita ensured our stay was everything we hoped it would be. From the welcome gift in our room, to greeting us by name every time they saw us, they were wonderful. We can’t wait to visit again.

The location of this hotel is perfect. Very short distance from the city. Views were awesome (but it is thanks to the nature of the area, not the hotel dealings). Food is not worthy of the price at all. If you choose the all-inclusive (which is definitely overpriced), you may regret it. Bring your own snacks. The snack bar was the same for the four days we stayed. It was a very awful quality sausage ( not beef, not pork, perhaps a blend if chicken and turkey scraps). The beef patty was overly done. The best was the nachos. Drinks were also overpriced and not strong enough. However, if you get the all inclusive deal you could order more drinks to compensate. Activities for children and youth were limited. Maybe a few water slides for the pool could do it. Staff was very friendly and eager to help. (Tip them well, please). Spa facility was good too.

Solid beach hotel and very family friendly. There is some wear and tear in spots, but that's inevitable with a hotel that's on the ocean and caters to kids. Rooms are clean and staff is helpful. Kids pool is perfect little ones and they have staff playing games with kids regularly. Our kids enjoyed the kids club as well. Multiple restaurants on site were well priced. Location is a bit out of town, but Uber rides are cheap to get into Panama City.

I spent a week in Panama and worked the first few days from my hotel room. I stayed on Marriott points and did not take advantage of the all inclusive option. Here is my experience: My room was beautiful and I loved working from my balcony overlooking the beach - after sunrise it's gets hot. The wifi was great. I had four devices for my videoconferences, email correspondence, phone calls, facetimes, and whatsapps and had no problems at all. The bed was comfortable and I did not hear anyone on either side of me during my stay. I was closer to the elevator than I prefer, but that was not problematic as it is in many hotels. The staff was very nice, however the front desk staff seemed a bit overworked, not rude, just tired. I ordered room service one night, and it was decent, but nothing to rave about. They ran out of coffee and only had instant coffee to provide during my last two days. I cannot imagine attempting to run a hotel during a worldwide pandemic, so I recognize it's easy to be critical when I wasn't dealing with internal issues, however, there seemed to be a condescending attitude when I asked if they could try to find regular coffee. Not every restaurant was open. The breakfast buffet was disappointing and I decided not to spend resort prices for dinner. The lounge buffet was decent and the atmosphere was very nice. I chose to spend time in Panama City for dinner most nights. The resort had fun activities on the weekend for guests and it seemed that locals could purchase day passes as well. It's low tide during much of the day, so swimming was possible in the morning and after 3p. Spa prices were basic, not the exorbitant prices one would normally see at a resort. However, I don't believe the nail tech was as knowledgeable about some techniques, such as cuticle removal. Her process caused broken skin so if I return to the Westin, I would forego all spa services. Uber is very inexpensive. I took Uber all over the city. I scheduled an airport transfer to the resort, and had the best driver who showed me around and spoke English - I did this because I didn't know anything about Panama City. However, when I left Panama, I took an uber to the airport for half the cost. For me, there was nothing great or terrible about this stay, it was an average week on the beach. I used the resort as home base and I received what I expected. There is no "wow factor" for this resort, but for me, that was okay.

We’ve traveled a lot. This is, by far, our worst travel experience. We been here two days and have been asking for washcloths for our room. We were finally told the truth, they have none. They said they are expecting to get some in tomorrow. The nightlife here… None. The pools close at six. We commented that there weren’t a lot of people here, which at first seemed cool because that meant we wouldn’t have to experience a crowded beach or pool. Now we’re wondering if it’s because other people have learned that this is not the place to travel to. The most activities I’ve seen have been a guy at the pool giving dance lessons for about 15 to 20 minutes. That’s it. No activities at night. Not many during the day, as I stated. I just called for room service and sat on hold for 20 minutes before I finally hung up and called from my cell phone rather than my room phone. Don’t get me started on the food. I rate it a four out of 10.

Do NOT stay here! I booked a lovely trip for my niece and myself to unwind. The all-inclusive food and watered down drinks are sub par. Did not feel like I got to try Panamanian food at all. Even the restaurant that we paid to get food at looking for one decent dinner was soggy vegetables and overcooked steak. This does not even bring me to the bed bugs issue. I had more than 200 BITES on my body that I now have scars from and had to go to Urgent Care once I got back home for insatiable itching. After being promised a full refund from a manager (Oliver san Martin I believe his name was), it has been TWO MONTHS since my vacation and I have heard NOTHING from management. Phone numbers and email addresses that were working perfectly before when I was communicating with them to organize my trip suddenly are not being answered anymore. Neither myself nor my bank nor the travel agency has been able to contact anyone from this hotel regarding my refund, which is laughably coincidental. All I can say is that I am grateful my niece did not sleep in the bed I was in. The ONLY positive thing I have to say about this resort is that the rain forest view from the room was spectacular.
