Beautiful old building with great rooms. You just feel at home and not like in a hotel. Good little restaurant with a nice homemade breakfast. Good staff and friendly service, we really enjoyed every one of several stays there.

Let me start by saying I'm surprised by other reviewers that are basically upset at the fact that they expected this hotel to be something that it just isn't (i.e., your run-of-the-mill chain hotel with no personality). The Las Clementinas Boutique Hotel is run out of a beautifully restored building discretely located in the heart of Casco Viejo, with incredible views of the Panama City skyline. Keep in mind this is a *restored* building (no elevators)--it's an authentic and charming boutique hotel with old school vibes. It's full of history and located in a historic area with a unique social story. We were lucky to get Apartment #4. It's on the middle floor and has several beautiful balconies, with equally beautiful views, and is perfect for couples or groups of 2. The apartment itself is clean, bright, open and fully equipped--it has a large living room area, a dining area, a full kitchen and strong air conditioning. Stocking your kitchen for your stay is super easy--there's a small supermarket only a couple minutes' walk away as well as little markets along the streets (side note: everything in Casco is walkable from the hotel). The bedroom is spacious and has a large armoire and other amenities (iron, ironing board, small safe, etc.). Another side note: the safe is small--it can hold some jewelry, money, passports, etc., but this isn't something I would worry about. We came with over $10k worth of camera equipment/laptops and it was safe the entire time. The heavy doors and window closings keep noise levels low in the evening and at night, when it gets lively in the streets outside. Cocoon yourself by also closing the bedroom doors at night and sleep like a baby (doesn't hurt that the pillows and mattress are super comfy)! The room itself has double doors that open up to the apartment's main balcony. It has a cute little table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy a drink or cup of coffee. We spent a lot of our downtime time out there! The bathroom has a large and powerful shower (hot water and good pressure!) with beautiful tiling. I loved loved loved the rooftop--the bar area wasn't active while we were there so we found ourselves up there alone quite often...it was actually really nice to be able to take a bottle of wine up in the evening, look at the skyline/landscape and take in life below. The hotel has a couple other great spaces too, including the restaurant's (definitely give it a try, it has a great and fairly priced menu) hidden garden, the event space and the quiet sunbed area just outside of the studios. It's also worth mentioning that the hotel even offers a complimentary airport transfer with a 3-night minimum booking. Hotel aside, the staff made our stay extra special. Miguel was our go-to local expert and even kindly helped us make our dinner reservations. Everyone is super friendly and always willing to help. The entire staff definitely keeps the spirit of Las Clementinas alive (which you can read about on the hotel website's blog) and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable and memorable. I would revisit in a heartbeat! <3

Staff very friendly! Location great! If you can get past some of the physical imperfections it would be a nice place to stay long term, as there is a large kitchen and living area. Kitchen had large Samsung fridge/freezer, stove, and all utensils. Pillows very comfy, although the air conditioner noise prevented any solid sleep. Shower very large with pretty tile. Hot water plentiful, shower pressure decent. While clean, the room we were in (#3) definitely needs some TLC. Walls are very scuffed up, lampshade dirty (looked like grease?), decorative bed pillow was stained. This property has potential, but needs some care! Also, the air conditioner in the room sounded like a lion roaring every time it started up---and when it ended, it made the sound of dripping water for a long time, more like running water----loud enough that I thought the shower had turned on and got up in the middle of the night to check. Very odd! The lobby is basically the bottom of a staircase. No ambiance. The luggage storage is under the staircase and unsecured. No chair or table on balcony as pictured on website. That would have been nice, although view from our balcony was of dilapidated buildings. The area is changing, so the view will likely change as well. Also, they add a $5 charge for gratuity to bill. This fact is in a letter they present you at check-in, if you don't read it you don't know. You are able to ask you have this removed, but front desk staff did not mention it or ask. The letter that discusses the charge is worded weirdly---something along the lines of "we know you want to tip, but you'll probably forget." Might be a language barrier (letter is in English) but it's off-putting Based on the photos and previous reviews, I expected more.

We were fortunate to get the top floor room with balconies overlooking a small plaza near one of the local police stations. One warning, there is no elevator so if you don't want to hike up several stories, request a room on one of the lower floors. The location near the the police presence certainly made us feel safe, in spite of the ramshackle buildings nearby that are occupied by squatters. The building itself was very thoughtfully update to create a more modern version of the original rooms, complete with large living spaces, air conditioning and a modern kitchen. As others have noted, it can get loud, but it never rose to the level of distraction for us. The service was also very attentive and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here In one of the apartments for 3 nights in Feb 2020. Great location, very clean, and very quiet. Kitchen was adequately stocked to make our breakfast. Nice market nearby for groceries. The only negatives were the stairs to climb and some of the staff struggled with English
