Mike was prompt with replies, arranged transfer to airport super early, got us the best exchange rate and stopped to get to an ATM. We arrived there late so he offered us a deink while his wife cooked us an inexpensive and tasty dinner. Really appreciated the level of service we got. The room for three was tiny, with the...

My husband and I had an excellent stay at Finca El Porton Verde. Our room was comfortable with many amenities, including a beautiful view and lovely swimming pool right outside our door. Mike's family was very welcoming and prepared a wonderful meal for us. We appreciated Mike's knowledge of the area and airport pickup and drop off. It was wonderful...

If you’re thinking of visiting Nicaragua but not sure how to get around and not too interested in the chain hotels, Farmstay El Porton Verde may be just right for you. My wife and I stayed at Farmstay for the first 3 days and the last 2 days of a 10-day visit to Nicaragua. The services provided by owner Mike...

Farmstay is a blissful paradise just outside of Managua with an amazing pool area and great family meals for a great price. I would recommend a visit. Mike was accommodating to our needs and we used this place as a base for our travels and kept returning. Mike and his family helped to plan out trip with tips and ideas...

This is a great way to start your vacation. I travelled solo throughout Nicaragua and did not know what to expect. Mike provided airport pickup which was extremely helpful. His family was very friendly and cooked great local meals, not to mention the farm has unbelievable fruit! I was able to practice my Spanish alot and get a true experience...

Thank you Bryan for your kind review. We loved having you here with us at the farmstay and hope you come back again soon! Folks reading, Bryan was a little hesitant in coming to Nicaragua solo and I told him that staying with us was his first and best contact in Nicaragua. We set Bryan up with our soft landing...

We stayed at El Porton Verde for more than a week. Mike and the rest of his family were the best hosts that anyone can imagine. They were very helpful in every way. For instance they went with us to the police station (we had been robbed before we went to El Porton Verde) and helped us with translation, they...

Mike met me at the airport and drove me to his wonderful spot. After travelling for 14 hours through 4 countries / airports this was just what I needed. When we arrived he gave me a complimentary welcome beer and showed me the room. When I woke up I finally got to see the view others have raved about and...

Mike was on the ball, meeting us at the airport, helping us shop on the way to his 'oasis' at El Porton Verde. We stayed in the apartment just outside the swimming pool, with a grand view of the verdant hills and volcanic region. Restful, indeed, and Mike took us on a fine tour of Managua, and bid us good...

I have to say that this was a great start to our stay in Nicaragua. We have been to the country several times before, but our flight is always the super late one, and frankly Managua is a bit scary. Mike came to pick us up at the airport at 1:30 am. We of course were the VERY last people...

Greetings turtletam: Thank you for your review of the Farmstay! I am glad that you enjoyed the "soft landing" service that we provide at El Porton Verde. While the early a.m. arrival at the Managua ariport for the Spirit Air flight is not my favorite time to go and pick guests up, the personal touch is very important to the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hello and thanks for your inquiry about El Porton Verde, Managua. Room offerings include: deluxe pool front apartment, quad bunk bed rooms, and en-suite rooms with private bath. As an alternative to the big chain hotels in hot and dirty downtown Managua, we offer a very comfortable and quiet bed and breakfast ambiance that lovers of quality lodgings with an eco-tourism aspect are finding very attractive. As we say here at the farm, "We are located in Managua, but being here feels like a world away..." We are located approximately 25 minutes drive from the airport and provide transportation to and from MGA airport. However, we are a small farm in the hills at 1,000 feet of elevation with tremendous views towards Masaya Volcano and the local mountains, so the ambiance is anything but what you will find in the city center. We are perfect for that first night and last night accomodations, especially since we offer airport transportation and local tours. If you want a restful night in a cooler and quieter environment than in the "real Managua" then think about booking with us. ... more   less
