Hotel Kasina is a perfect very low budget hotel (33 euro a night for single room) for those who want to spend their time exploring this totally fantastic and unbelievably overlooked city and not hanging around in the hotel all day. Rooms are tiny, soviet era but clean and fit for purpose.View was dingy and industrial but I like that kind of thing. My phone didn't work and my room was only cleaned every other day, though my friend had his cleaned every day. This is not the end of the world however. Lobby is great and old school. There's a lovely area outside to sit, smoke drink and take the city in before you head out. Also the brewery bar next door is a handy place for a last drink after a night out. Breakfast is lovely but I think four euro extra. Phone bills from the room can be high so check the rate beforehand. It's totally central. Five minutes from everywhere either walking or taxiing.. Belgrade is still not on the tourist map so prices are a fraction of what you'll pay anywhere else. So get there while you can still afford it. It's like an unwashed Paris. Walk around for an hour and you'll come across gorgeous little cobblestone streets and churches etc etc. Before I arrived I read these appalling reviews of Kasina and was prepared for the worst. I really don't know who these tripadvisor whingers are and what they expect. Andrei_r90 seems to have gone a long time ago or else things have changed a lot since then. Ideal for anyone on a very low budget who just wants a place to rest their heads.

The Kasina is very well located in the center of Belgrade. It is an older hotel, and looks long overdue for a renovation. The tiny, creaky elevator might be unnerving to American visitors, but is quite common in European buildings of this type. The public areas -- lobby, hallways, dining room, etc -- are rather gloomy, with dull paintwork and ancient flooring. My room was very small and had some well-worn furnishings, with noticeably battered edges to the wooden items. It had a depressing view into a central courtyard. The bathroom was very basic, but featured the loudest plumbing I have ever heard in a hotel -- if anyone in another room on the same plumbling line used their bathroom, there was a very robust whoosh and roar. I should emphasize that I stayed in one of the cheaper "standard" rooms; there are others, some with city views and even terraces, and they might be much nicer -- I don't know. I was not much impressed with the breaskfast buffet -- both mornings when I was there the coffee was completely cold at 8am. Few attendants were present , and on the second morning the guests could find nobody to produce a warm pot. As another reviewer noted, there is no "English" (Indian) tea, so if a morning cuppa is your thing, bring your own tea bags. The breakfast buffet was typical continental fare but did include fried and scrambled eggs. Check-in and check-out were extremely efficient (almost to the point of brusqueness). There are three very old computers available for guests' use in the lobby, at a nominal fee, but they were so agonizingly slow that I went out and found a local internet cafe instead.

You get what you pay for, and this hotel delivers. If you want somewhere cheap and very convenient and are not too fussy about the details, it will do fine. If you want luxury, charm, elegance, superb service, etc, you should definitely look elsewhere.

I stayed here in April 2013. While the location was perfect (in the center of Belgrade), and breakfast was good, overall, hotel is very old, never been renovated for the past 10-20 years. Internet(WiFi) was available only in the reception area, and it was slow. However, if you are planning a short stay in the center of Belgrade with cheap rates (EUR 30/day), then this hotel may be the best choice for you.

This reception staff in this hotel could not be faulted. they went out of their way to be helpful and always had a smile. If only the hotel lived up to their standards. The location is great and it's cheap for such a central hotel in a capital city, but it has it's downside.

There is no such thing as a quiet room here - and I tried quite a few. The so-called quiet rooms at the back suffered from a very very noisy generator outside which was worse than the main road traffic at the front. To make matters worse the single rooms are tiny and very hot in summer - intolerably hot with the windows closed and intolerably noisy with them open (even with earplugs).

Singles, don't go for the cheapest room, I recommend upgrading to an air conditioned room, only ÂŁ15 a night extra and its more than worth it. This got me a much larger, lighter and cooler room right at the front with a balcony. Yes the traffic was noisy but earplugs soon dealt with that.

If you can, get a room number ending 07 - these are the only ones with balconies and on upper floors you even get a view to the Sava river.

Overall the hotel is in need of some renovation. The breakfast was distinctly average but more than adequate. Reasonable value for the cost.

I travel alone, and was happy to get a singleroom on the 6th floor with a balkony and a great view over the city!
The hotel has a superb location, and yes its not brand new, but it has typical Beograd-charm. Breakfast is good, the coffee is very good. The elevator is interesting. Its clean and has nice somewhat english speaking staff.

This is one of those hotels that have some pros:

-perfect position for visiting the City center
-good beer and breakfast
-very good night club just nearby
-the possibility to exchange money at the reception
-workable wi-fi
- staff is cool

But:

-the bed are some real pain in the back
-it just needs a very good restoration
-very old-dated
-the bathroom is old and not always functioning

My advice - if you are going to visit Belgrade for some days and stay the whole day outside, than take this hotel. There is a minimum comfort and the position is really worthwhile.

The staff here is excellent and friendly and always know which room you are in. The room service never tries to come in while you are there, they work around your schedule. The breakfast is full of salads, fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses, breads, eggs etc. This hotel is everything you need for exploring the city. A healthy breakfast, the best location in the heart of Belgrade and a friendly smile upon return.
I see above that others say the rooms are small. Who hangs out in their room? And they are twice the size of the supposed 4-star Moskva Hotel across the street whose staff is so rude I walked out of there (luckily) and found this gem, Kasina.
It is quiet throughout the night and the elevators are fast and always working (unheard of in Serbia). And at like $30 Euros per night? You just can't beat this place. I will always come back here.

Ended up staying here out of necessity. Was dreading it having read previous reviews but it's really not that bad. I wouldn't take my wife there for a romantic weekend but foR a business traveller looking for a central location it's bearable.

The major and only plus point is the central location. The hotel is run down and dirty
and has seen much better days, I stayed twice here in seperate rooms and both rooms were in desperate need of refurbishment, windows didnt open/close, the first room I had no air con controller and I had to wait while they scavanged one from elsewhere and when I got one using it required pressing in the batteries which were held in only with parcel tape. The main lift was not working for the first 2 nights I was there. The Wifi is sporadic and I had to go out in the hallway to get any decent signal and got a better signal in the room from the Hotel Moskva across the road. The breakfast arrangements are strange as you walk through a connecting door into the bar next door and whilst the breakfast was good in itself the hot food was lukewarm. If you have a room facing the street on Friday and Sat there is live music playing from the attached bar downstairs and the windows offer little soundproofing.

I was there on a business trip. Rooms in a decrepit shape, dirty, loud traffic did not let me sleep. When I complained at the desk and asked for a more quiet room, I was rudely sent away. I am certain to avoid it in the future
