You get what you pay for, and this hotel delivers. If you want somewhere cheap and very convenient and are not too fussy about the details, it will do fine. If you want luxury, charm, elegance, superb service, etc, you should definitely look elsewhere.
There is no such thing as a quiet room here - and I tried quite a few. The so-called quiet rooms at the back suffered from a very very noisy generator outside which was worse than the main road traffic at the front. To make matters worse the single rooms are tiny and very hot in summer - intolerably hot with the windows closed and intolerably noisy with them open (even with earplugs).
Singles, don't go for the cheapest room, I recommend upgrading to an air conditioned room, only ÂŁ15 a night extra and its more than worth it. This got me a much larger, lighter and cooler room right at the front with a balcony. Yes the traffic was noisy but earplugs soon dealt with that.
If you can, get a room number ending 07 - these are the only ones with balconies and on upper floors you even get a view to the Sava river.
Overall the hotel is in need of some renovation. The breakfast was distinctly average but more than adequate. Reasonable value for the cost.
The hotel has a superb location, and yes its not brand new, but it has typical Beograd-charm. Breakfast is good, the coffee is very good. The elevator is interesting. Its clean and has nice somewhat english speaking staff.
-perfect position for visiting the City center
-good beer and breakfast
-very good night club just nearby
-the possibility to exchange money at the reception
-workable wi-fi
- staff is cool
But:
-the bed are some real pain in the back
-it just needs a very good restoration
-very old-dated
-the bathroom is old and not always functioning
My advice - if you are going to visit Belgrade for some days and stay the whole day outside, than take this hotel. There is a minimum comfort and the position is really worthwhile.
I see above that others say the rooms are small. Who hangs out in their room? And they are twice the size of the supposed 4-star Moskva Hotel across the street whose staff is so rude I walked out of there (luckily) and found this gem, Kasina.
It is quiet throughout the night and the elevators are fast and always working (unheard of in Serbia). And at like $30 Euros per night? You just can't beat this place. I will always come back here.
and has seen much better days, I stayed twice here in seperate rooms and both rooms were in desperate need of refurbishment, windows didnt open/close, the first room I had no air con controller and I had to wait while they scavanged one from elsewhere and when I got one using it required pressing in the batteries which were held in only with parcel tape. The main lift was not working for the first 2 nights I was there. The Wifi is sporadic and I had to go out in the hallway to get any decent signal and got a better signal in the room from the Hotel Moskva across the road. The breakfast arrangements are strange as you walk through a connecting door into the bar next door and whilst the breakfast was good in itself the hot food was lukewarm. If you have a room facing the street on Friday and Sat there is live music playing from the attached bar downstairs and the windows offer little soundproofing.
