Detailed Reviews
We stayed at El Diablo a total of 3 times over the 3 weeks that we spent in Serbia and it's truly become our Belgrade home! Dragon and Nikola are great, they will go above and beyond for you and will help you in any way they can. We stayed in the private room with ensuite, the bed is comfy and the room and communal areas are always spotless! The location of the hostel is also great, it's right in the middle of town and walking distance of pretty much everything! The Splavs are only a 40 minute walk or 10 minute taxi! This hostel has a great vibe and we couldn't recommend it enough. We are sure we will be back to visit these friends at El Diablo again!

i have spend a night here because i had a morning flight. The atmosphere here is like you're crashing on someones couch which makes for a very welcoming feel to it. during the night there is always someone in the kitchen/livingroom (probably watching a movie) ready to help with what you need.
all in all a very great (albeit short) stay.

My partner and I visited this hostel right after covid travel restrictions started to lift. Its a difficult time to travel, plagued by uncertainties, but the owners of this hostel, Dragon and Nikolai, went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay. They helped us with getting to the hostel and they provided excellent recommendations for what to do in Belgrade, Serbia, and even neighboring countries. They helped us understand their culture, and generally made us feel incredibly welcome.
The hostel itself is comfortable. There's a small, clean kitchen. A few dorm rooms, some shared bathrooms, a private room, a shared balcony, good wifi, laundry, and even a cat! The location is great too. All around, I had a great time in Belgrade because of how great this hostel was, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I stayed at El Diablo hostel for three days with six friends, we shared a room together. It was clean, looked nice and comfy beds. The hostel owner was very friendly and gladly shared tips about what to do in town and which restaurants were worth a visit. The location is perfect, very central.
It was all in all a great experience.

Fantastic hostel in a great location. The manager Dragan is a fab guy that knows the city very well. He helped me a lot to find the best spots in Belgrade. The place is super clean and safe too. Highly recommended.

Staff were nice, friendly and extremely helpful. It’s a bit of a pity that there were only two bathrooms, which both included the toilets as well. If that wasn’t the case we wouldn’t have to wait for a long while as we were with a pretty big group. Next to that, it was clean, the beds were fine and the view from their rooftop and balcony is cool! Would recommend this hostel!

The staff at this hostel are absolutely horrible.
Firstly, they advertise air conditioning but refused to turn it on for us because they needed to 'save money'. Everyone was getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes because they kept the windows open. It was very hot.
I used the laundry service and they lost a piece of my clothing. I then asked for them to please look for it and they insisted I never gave it to them. I then insisted they kept looking for it and eventually they found it and just thrust it at me and never apologised for accusing me of lying.
The final straw was that check out is at 12pm - which is fine I had checked out. I returned to the hostel at about 4pm with other friends who were still staying there and the awful people who work here decided I had to leave the building immediately because I was no longer staying there. I had "30 seconds to leave the building NOW". This policy is ridiculous - I have stayed in hundreds of hostels in Europe and have never heard of a hostel not letting you sit in the common area (in this case 4 chairs in the lobby... pathetic common area) after check out. But worst of all was how rude they were about this. The man even said 'DON'T START CRYING' (I wasn't, I was glad to bloody leave this horrible place and I hope it burns to the ground). Rude, horrible, horrible staff. There is honestly no excuse for this type of behaviour.
Other guests and I discussed how perplexed we were that this place has such good ratings. One of the staff members is nice but the other two men are the worst hostel staff I have ever encountered. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I don't know where to start and I cannot fully explain the frustration I felt whilst staying here so I shall just make small summarising statements.
Over controlling, personal belongings moved/re organised, too cramped, no personal space, far too hot, ridiculous money making fines and warnings, parent style approach to hosting, cockroaches on floor at one point too, continual hosting.
I know the owners mean well but it went so far the other way I didn't feel like I could make my own decisions and see Belgrade the way I wanted to, without my personal conversations and plans be invaded and commented on. I felt really uncomfortable there and they definitely don't deserve 5 stars.
If you're an outgoing, independent traveller do not go here.
We were told to join the rest of the guests on their night out and were given a 'five minute warning' like we were kids, let the parents have some down time kind of vibe. Ridiculous and completely NOT a hostel environment.

Belgrade is an amazing city! Of all the Balkan cities I have been to, the people in Belgrade have been the friendliest and easiest to speak with. I have had numerous locals not only give me directions, but actually guide me to the places I wanted to go. If you show any sign of uncertainty or confusion, the locals will jump at the chance to assist you without asking for any form of compensation.
The hosts of El Diablo Hostel (Ivan, Nikola and Dragan) are no different. They are always offering assistance and sincerely want you to make the most out of your stay in Belgrade by giving amazing recommendations. If you are planning a trip through the Balkans, don`t hesitate to ask them as they know exactly how to optimize your time and experience in this region.
The hostel is very clean and comfortable. Great location as it is in the middle of all of the major sites. Nightlife is amazing in Belgrade and the hosts here at El Diablo have partnerships with some of the big clubs and promotores to provide you with free entry and guest list. A group of us got free entrance into a big night festival in the castle two nights in a row (10 euro value each night) thanks to the hosts here at El Diablo.
Prepare to extend your stay if you come to El Diablo Hostel as you will not want to leave!
