More often that not, guests complain when services are subpar or inadequate, but very rarely do they allow establishments to win them back with exceptional customer service and attentiveness.

Queens Astoria Design Hotel went beyond and above service during my stay and it is to be commended.

I booked very late and at the last minute because of several Booking.com errors that were completely separate from this hotel, so when I arrived I was tired and just wanted to rest. The room I was initially assigned was the wrong one, and when I went back downstairs, I was quickly assigned another room that exceeded my expectations.

Every day, when I came downstairs, the concierge /front desk made sure that I was enjoying my stay and offered to assist me with any questions I had. When I requested an invoice in dollars to send to Booking.com, they took time out during a particularly busy moment at the front desk to tend to my needs.

Because of their service and attention to detail, I extended my stay through the weekend, and the manager personally spoke to me to ensure that all my needs had been met.

As someone that has traveled to Belgrade many times over the last decade and stayed in several hotels, I will say that this is hands down THE best experience I have ever had in one and it easily could have been the worst.

THIS is how you win international guests over and as this city becomes a go-to destination, Queen’s Astoria Design Hotel will succeed where others fail.

Queen's Astoria Hotel located very close to the heart of the Belgrade,. It was clean and rooms were comfortable. We stayed only one night, but it was good choice for stopover. I do not remember if we had breakfast because we had to move early morning but all was good.

Great hotel with great staff and rooms, close to the centar and all the main localities. Rooms are big and decor of the hotel is beautiful. Breakfast is local and very rich. There is shopping center close, bus station and river.

We chose this hotel because of its location near the bus station. Unfortunately it didn’t come up to our expectations. Some of the decor was very nice but other areas need attention especially the bathroom which needed a good clean. The a/c doesn’t go very low and as it is in the lounge area the sleeping area is very warm.
The hotel seems to be used mainly by coach trips. Breakfast is either manic or come down later to find every table dirty and no clean plates or cups. Nothing seems to be replenished. The restaurant staff were very rude.
The saving grace at this hotel is the receptionist Ivana who did her best to help us and others.

Had. a Business trip to the city recently, checked out many on this site, selected the Astoria for locality, price and the hotel lived up to expectations and I'd recommend a stay here. So.. the interior of the hotel, it's certainly interesting! You would know in an instant that it is certainly over elaborate! But take the interior with a pinch of salt, it's very clean indeed, all the facilities are brand new, the bedrooms are very clean, new fittings, free wifi and phone calls internationally, and that was a great asset. Bathroom amazing, state of art bathroom fittings, power shower etc...
Belgrade is a city on the up, long main walkway full of shops about 2km long, I was most surprised by a Belgrade Uni student with two very large telescopes in the city charging a few cents to view Saturn... Now that was amazing a) to view and b) it made n excellent impression on the city.... So that guy with his telescope endeared me to the city, I shall go back and maybe try to view another planet!

Was in Belgrade for two days and had to move to this hotel for the second day because I had a midterm due for one of my online classes and the hostel i was staying at was too noisy and was stunned by this hotel. The reception was elegant in the 19th century New York fashion which was amazing to see in Belgrade. The room itself wasn't the largest but the shower was EPIC-the shower had about 20 buttons and me and my friend probably took about an hour shower each our first time in there because the options just kept coming of what you could make the shower do, best design i've ever seen. The hotel had free guarded parking which was nice, but it was about two blocks away and didn't offer any kind of service with our bags (which i don't mind by the way, i'm not that spoiled). The area surrounding the hotel was kind of boring and all the interesting places of Belgrade were at minimum a taxi ride away. I still highly recommend the hotel if you are big on elegance and decor and would certainly visit there again.

Walking into the hotel you are amazed at the decor of the hotel and the history behind it, although items on display seem to be just a collection of antiques and not along any one specific theme or era.

Reception:
The young lady at reception spoke english and was very helpful and answered all our questions.
Other staff we encountered were less than helpful or uninterested in ensuring that guests who stay here are made to feel welcome.

Room / facilities:
The room initially assigned reeked of mouldy carpet, wet dog smell, sewerage smell mixed into one cocktail. We asked to move to another room, which 208 was assigned. This room carpets did not smell as bad, but the cleaning of the room was substandard, as some of the linen was marked, fridge was unplugged from the electricity and something had leaked which made a sticky slimy puddle in the fridge.

The room consisted of a fridge, in room safe, flat screen TV, desk, tea and coffee facilities, 2x robes and matching slippers, queen bed with memory foam top and pillows, wardrobe and the usual bathroom items.

Downfalls:
Location of hotel is not in a nice part of the old city.

Room carpet and walkway carpet throughout level 2 have a very, very strong mouldy smell. This was masked by staff spraying air freshener in the walk ways.

There are unpleasant and untrained breakfast staff who seem to just stand around all morning chatting amongst themselves and obtaining drinks from the drink machine which is for guests use at breakfast.
Room cleaning is substandard and payment of a guest insurance without explanation.

Wifi:
No password required (unsecured network) and fast bandwith.

Breakfast:
As we walked into the breakfast room, the young man did not seem to know the procedures to ensure people entering were actually guests. We were referred to reception, where they quickly checked to make sure we paid the city tax and guest insurance, before allowing us into the breakfast room.

There were 5 breakfast staff who were all standing around the entrance to the breakfast room and did not assist guests entering. The two ladies were observed during our breakfast, playing on cell phones, talking to each other, helping themselves to breakfast juices and looking glamorous.

At 9.00 am, the foods that are meant to be hot were just warm or cold and not covered in the steel warming trays. Cold foods, yoghurts fruit salad were just cool and not cold

In our second breakfast there were even more ladies all standing at the bar looking glamorous, with only 2 guests in the breakfast room.
The men are the only staff that help guests and clear tables.

Food was not refilled even with 1 hour remaining until breakfast ceased. The hot food was just as cold as yesterday.

As with yesterday, the local police force visit the hotel frequently to sit down and have breakfast.

The newly placed table clothes on tables were not laundered correctly as ours had some sort of metallic type stains in the center.

Breakfast consisted of eggs scrambled or fried, bacon (swimming in fat), sausages, hot breakfast pastries, salad items, cheeses, cereals tea/coffee/juices, yoghurts, fruits and cakes. I even observed a blow fly on the exposed cheeses.

Conclusion:
There is lots of potential, if the premises was looked after or updated a little (some displays/artwork removed - less is more) staff were trained to service guests and not stand around to look glamours.
Guest insurance is to be paid, but no explanation as to what this is for.
Maintenance and carpet issues were addressed, instead of being "swept under the carpet" and ignored.

Upon writing this Trip Advisor review, I have read 12 months of previous reviews, to see if my experience is an isolated one.
It appears that other guests have raised similar experiences and it is clear that management ignore the issues and problems and nothing has changed in terms of service or facilities.

Location / Nearby:
The hotel is located in a not so nice area of the old Belgrade city. It is less than a 5 min walk to train and bus station, small supermarket across the road, 20 minute stroll to the old city centre and Kalemegdan park, 20 min walk to the shopping mall in new Belgrade.

Getting to / from hotel:
Bus A1 is a 30 min bus ride, to and from the airport. Cost is 300 Dinara per person each way. Cash only is accepted on board.

For the direction of the airport to the city, once the bus crosses the river, there is a stop at one side of the bus station, if you exit here, the hotel is about a 150 m walk.
The bus also stops further around nearer to the train station, if you exit here, this is about a 50 m walk.

To return to the airport, the bus also departs from the stop outside the train station, near the old blue steam train engine on display.

I cannot believe this hotel was given so many good reviews and call themselves a 4 star (more likely a two star). We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a wedding party of 35 beginning of December 2016. Although the rooms are nice with lovely paintings/pictures and comfortable, but with a poor 'mobile' shower facility, which kept flooding. The breakfast was awful, minimal, and tasteless, hot dishes kept cold. There was shortage of proper size tea cups, had to wait in queue for the staff to wash and place them at their leisure. What is worst was the attitude of the waiters. Two ladies just stood on the side and never responded to the requests for assisstance or cleared the tables. The staff HID the black tea second morning, rudely commenting that we drank too much tea (yes in miniature cups they provided!) and to make matters worst they commented (with smirky smiles on their faces) that they will bring out the black tea (tasteless tea anyway) when our wedding party had left. Lets hope this was not a racist behaviour. If they'd run out of tea bags, there was a supermarket selling various teas just across the road. Surely, how much does a tea bag cost? few dinars (or a couple of pence in English money). The bad attitude of staff did not stop here . The reception staff were also rude and argumentative in dealing with guests, which really made this happy day for the bride's and groome's families a very unhappy event. Previously organised wedding dinner at the hotel had to be cancelled at the last day, as the hotel would not allow the wedding party to go beyond 11 pm, with an excuse that other guests could be disturbed by the noise. What a joke again as the majority of the hotel was occupied by the wedding party guests and the great majority of the guests were over 55!!!. Luckilly, the staff of the restaurant where the wedding party was finally held made us really welcome that night. WE really enjoyed Belgrade next three days and would have enjoyed it more if the staff of Queens Astoria Hotel were not so rude. I even wrote and complained to the managing director of the hotel, but surprise surprise, received no response.

Great welcome, nice deco, nice rooms but blinds would not work, needed a reminder the following day to fix, led to one sleepless night due to broken flashing red hotel sign out side window, water took an age to heat up and shower head broken. Breakfast is what you would expect for the price of the rooms, Beds and pillows comfortable, dark room when blinds fixed, counter / dinning room Staff were more than helpful.

Nice renewed but old style hotel in Belgrade, very good price/value rate, 10 minutes walking from the shopping area of mihailova street and only one minute form the main rail station.
Rich and good breakfast.
Nice and kind english speaking staff, a special mention for Ms. Nevena.

Hello......Sorry, don't recall about a hair dryer as we had our own. My guess is that great front desk folks can help out. There is a desk in all rooms, ranging from narrow and long in smaller rooms, to full size in the suites. Yes, free high speed ( for Serbia) internet thru out the property. Enjoy the restaurant breakfast which is excellent.
