Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! First of all room was not ready on our arrival. second partner of the owner, whose looking after Hostel was completely drunk and very unpleasant, swearing and shouting, so we decided to leave immediately... Anyway Belgrade is full of lovely accommodations, run by lovely people and there is no need to waist ur time and nerves to deal with dirty, violent, alcoholic host...

I have stayed at hostels all around the world and I really do not expect much because I know I am getting a deal. But I do expect a certain level respect, kindness, & honesty in dealing with staff-little of which I received here. I also expect to receive what is advertised because those reasons are why I booked-Here I did not as I will outline below. First, upon arrival from Bulgaria-a 15 hour journey-I was immediately ordered to pay cash up front for the private room I had booked for 3 days. It was late, dark, I had a crazy long day, was really tired, had feet covered in blisters, an upset stomach, & to top it off I got lost finding the place. I really needed just to sleep & I did not feel safe wandering the dark, unfamiliar, LOUD, streets looking for a place to exchange cash just then. Besides I knew they had my credit card number so that should take care of trust issues on their part. So, I told the nice blond lady at reception that I would pay tomorrow. After-all, I would be there 3 days. I wanted to find a good rate and go in the daytime. She seemed fine with this- for the moment. Later on when I was being sick in the bathroom, she interrupted me saying she had to go and "had to pay her boss now as it was the end of her shift". I was pretty shocked at this. I understand business but this was ridiculous! She walked me to her "boss" who was an unreasonable, smoking , jerk who then proceeded to argue loudly and in a VERY threatening manner that I was a "bad guest" for not having the money upfront. Seeing there was no way out of this I agreed to go exchange money . He even had the staff member who checked me in personally walk me to an exchange place-that had the worst rates on the planet to be sure I got cash.During the walk there I started crying. I was overwhelmed, tired, and sick. I was scared at being yelled at and ashamed at myself for not researching the place further as the negative reviews are very bad about this man and place. Second- After paying him. I asked for a receipt to which he refused. He said I would get it on checkout. Since I was leaving at 6am in 3 days I asked again for it now. I said "I give you money, you give me a receipt. That is business." He angrily started yelling at me that he is "Security" and I will get a receipt when he is ready to give me one. In shock I went to my room quietly to be a "good guest". Third-I could not sleep all night due to the major traffic noise below and fighting outside my room. The Hostel is built on a freeway. LITERALLY!!!!! Cars all night whizzing by the window and even with ear plugs and a shut window the noise was deafening and the same male manager was yelling at other guests at midnight!!! Fourth-The entire hostel smelled of smoke including my room. IT IS NOT SMOKE FREE!!!!!!!!!! I could not open the window due to the car noise and stinky car exhaust so I has to breath cigarette smoke all night- awake in hell or a Serbian Jail as another reviewer put it. Because I could not sleep on night one I looked at all the negative reviews on this place and was terrified. The place is reported to have bed bugs and be filthy. This guy is reported to kick people out, not provide refunds when doing so, overcharge, walk around drunk threatening people, smoke constantly, and enter the rooms unannounced. Just read for yourself how he responds to his former guests complaints. He insults and blames them- calling them crazy and calling them liars as I am sure he will do with me. He should be apologizing & trying to make good as a decent business person does. Fifth-For my visit he watched me constantly essentially terrorizing me. He was there as I exited the shower at 6:30 am just standing there. And no one else was up. I made instant coffee one morning and he came out of no where and lit up a cigarette on the balcony next to the kitchen so I had to drink my coffee in a smoke cloud-they never shut the balcony door so the smoke comes inside. I reheated leftovers for breakfast one morning and again he comes out and smokes and stares at you as you try to eat and the smoke ruins your meal. He also scared me during the day as I was in my room napping-because I could not sleep at night and I accidentally left my key in my lock outside the door. He jerked on the doorknob making a lot of noise to wake me up scaring the crap out of me. l guess that was his way of telling me I left my key in the door! Sixth, At first I was impressed with the security as there was a locked door as you enter the building and a code was required to get in. Well that turned out to be all untrue. With the exception of my first day that outside door was always wide open and the lock broken. I shut it every time I entered or left but it never locked again. So much for safety! Seven-The stairwell automatic lights only work intermittently and the stairs are slippery. So you are walking the stairs in pitch black. I had to use my cell phone light or would have easily fell and gotten hurt. Eight-I was again promised a receipt by the nice blonde lady there on day two. She said she would leave it somewhere for me. However, when I left on day three at 6am to go to the airport I never found it. Thus, I have no record I paid-I knew this would happen- and have fears will be double charged by this dishonest establishment. I am an experienced traveler and I know what most hostel goers want in a hostel. They want a proper kitchen to cook-this place does not have that-it is a tiny kitchenette. They want a nice smoke free common room to talk with and meet other travelers-this place does not have that. They want to feel safe and have a management that helps them experience all the city has to offer -You won't get that here. They do not want to feel or be ripped off, want luggage storage, and not be monitored every second of every day-this hostel does not offer any of those things. In closing, I would like to say the only redeeming quality in this HELL HOSTEL was the kind lady who's name I never got, that checked me in. She kindly, made a call for me when a travel company was late picking me up for a day tour and I thank her for her kindness. She understood I was sick on arrival too. She understands her boss is a jerk. Her feelings transcended all language barriers. She should be in charge not the smoking, drunken, gangster, goon that lives there 24/7. Avoid this Hostel. It ruined my first impression of Serbia and its people. I did not travel around the world to be treated like that. I was a paying guest that followed all the rules and was treated like no guest should be. I do not want you to go through what I did.

Stayed for 3 nights, friendly staff, comfy memory foam mattresses and good aircon! Fast Wi-fi and 5 minute walk to Republic square, 24 hour small shop for drinks etc close by. Reasonably small hostel but has a mix of private or dorm rooms, I stayed in a 7 bunk dorm and everything was good, the bathroom was clean, but not the most private as the toilet doors are glass and opaque, showers could do with new heads and there is just a shower curtain, no doors, but water is powerfull and hot( adjustable) all in all, enjoyed my stay and would stay again, really good for a fair price, thanks!

Small and clean hostel. I travelled with my sister and expected a bigger hostel and more younger people. Constant smoking on the balcony caused a smell in the whole hostel. Rooms, beds and lockers were good and useful. Staff was nice too. If you want to meet a lot of young and enthusiastic travellers I would not recommend this hostel.
