A warm welcome from the reception staff. Nice clean crisp upgraded room. The staff in the restaurant were very accommodating and attentive. Food was good liked the buffet style breakfast. It was really quiet later in the week due to the Covid 19 lockdown.
I called in to the Crystal Palace to have an early evening meal with a client and then a light lunch the day after. The food and service were both very good and offered good value for money. Soup and a beer worked out to only £5.80 and the evening meals only £22 and that was fit two courses ( soup and main) plus a round of drinks. Bucharest is an extremely low cost place to visit. The Crystal Palace is worth a visit.
Hotel is ok. Need some renovation and refreshing in the rooms. My room was looking towards the street and was a bit noisy. Breakfast was ok. Friendly staff. Convinient location if you need to go to Novo park and around.
Very bad air-conditioning system, weak room service standard, missing basic amenities in room such as tissue box, no mineral water offered in rooms only chargeable in minibar and only 2 small bottles available although room service is only till 10:30 pm, room service rarely picks up the call, room door does not close properly requires a push, garbage bin only available in toilet no bin in the apartment suite room, toilet seat almost broken, in addition to that they charged me over 50% of my original room rate for a late checkout, rood housekeeping and do not speak English at all, unprofessional hotel manager received all my comments with no action taken only one answer received "we will look into your complain" did not even bother to follow up upon my check out, hotel requires maintenance and is definitely not value for money, I did not have such a bad experience in such a long time and I assure I was very honest and transparent in my comments no exaggeration in Anyway.…
I was visiting Bucharest on business during August, when it was very hot.The hotel was built about 20 years ago, but has recently been modernised: for the most part, they have done a good job, but there are a couple of places where they slightly "missed the mark" The room: A very good sized room, with suitable quality furniture. The bed was actually quite comfortable, but the pillows were rather soft and lacking - I prefer a firm pillow. Small desk with stocked minibar (not seen one of those for a while!!), plus a "comfy chair" and small table. Large modern TV (although I never turned it on!). There is a moderm coffee making machine, plus 2 coffee cups, 2 glasses, and 2 coffee capsules, plus 2 tea bags (not the normal black tea). As a coffee drinker, I was more than happy with this! What is lacking, and for a "modern" 4 start hotel, this is unforgivable, is the lack of usable power sockets. There is one socket adjacent to the bed, this is taken up by the charger base for the room's cordless telephone. Behind the desk (and I mean behind, on the floor, hidden by the curtains) was a 3-way power block, with 2 of the sockets used by the mini-bar and coffee machine, leaving one, hard-to access, power socket! As I said, this is really NOT good enough in a modern hotel. The room is air-conditioned, using a hotel-wide cooling setup. When it works, it works well. Unfortunately, on many occasions it was not working. The day I arrived it was not working, but luckily it was starting to cool outside, and I was able to open a window. Not a great night's sleep. On other days it worked fine, yet on others it would work for part of the evening, then stop working again. For a 4 star hotel that claims to have air-conditioning, then (in the hot summer) it MUST work. The hotel is on a busy main road, and in the evening, even with the windows closed, you'll hear the siren if one or two ambulances or whatever as they come past. Other than that, it was quiet. Obviously, with windows open, you would expect some traffic noise. Bathroom: The bathroom was spacious, with a clean shower (well, except for the water-sealing strip on the bottom of the door.... filthy!). The fittings were nice, but the sink was strangely not very deep. With no plug, it was possible to wash your fingers, but it was not possible to put your actual hands under the tap! Who selected such a sink? Towels were of reasaonable size and quality. A reasonable wardrobe, with shelves at bottom for your clothes. They provide a dressing gown and a couple of pairs of slippers. The wardrobe contains a small safe: large enough for a table, but not for a PC. Public areas: The public areas of the hotel were quite pleasant, and generally kept cool. A small bar area, but seats in the lobby and outside. The restaurant was relatively small, but was never busy. Restaurant & Breakfast: Breakfast was a good mix of hot and cold foods. Whilst I served myself, I believe they would have provided table service if you preferred. They certainly brought coffee and juice to my table. The evening menu is simple and small, but the food quality was just fine - I had 2 meals here. Abd here was one of those "rough edges": the menu is a 4-way folded cardboard menu (most 4 star hotels would have a "leather" folder with multiple pages) - that had sellotape on the folds!!! Not quite what I expected. The other strange thing is that the staff seem to be over-eager to remove your plates etc. It doesn't seem to matter that you you are still actually chewing that last mouthful, or that someone else on the table still has food on their plate! WiFi: There seem to be 2 wifi systems, the older "CrystalPalaceA" etc system, which needed a password, and never worked for me. The new "CrystalPalace" wifi is open, and performed excellently - high andwithd, no dropouts. Overall I leave with a good impression. The only reason I dropped my rating from 5 to 4 was the problems with the air-conditioning, and the lack of power plugs. For travel, I used Uber - I suggest you pay the tiny extra and use a "select" car, rather than the "UberX". I found that about 60% or so of drivers understood English, and those who did were a pleasure to talk to. Compared to UK, the prices in Romania are low: taxis, hotels, and food are a lot cheaper (even in the hotel - I mean, when was the last time you ate a small dinner and a beer in a hotel for under ten pounds!) Would I stay at the Crystal Palace again? Yes.…
I spent 3 nights in the hotel, I was satisfied with the service. The breakfast was great, the personnel were friendly and helpful. The room is tidy and clean. The manager himself was checking the service. The location is also good.
Hotel after renovation. Located quite far from city center on the way to international airport. Despite that the Hotel stays on the edge of big and busy road - inside your room you will not hear the noise from it. Within 5-7 minutes of walk you can reach the metro station. The limousine service and airport meet & greet service working very good and perfectly in time. Very friendly personnel. Each room is equipped with safe box. Big car parking in front of the hotel.
The room was well isolated and well furnished (but in the bathroom there's not bidet). Good breakfast and nice dinner. For me a pleasant surprise. The room's price is affordable and I found all the staff really kind and responsible.
Very pleasant service from hotel staff counts more on my rating. Hotel room was renovated recently but still some facilities are the old ones and not working well (noisy ventilation in the bathroom etc). I got a room upgrade and bottle of wine, which are also appreciated. Breakfast was quite satisfactory too. Hotel location is very convenient to access Pipera business area on foot.
The rooms stink like cigarette smoke although the smoking is forbidden in the hotel. The personnel is somehow unprofessional and not particularly polite. Large parking are in the front of the hotel. Far from city center
