The meals were ok - rather plain, decent quality, and orders of magnitude better than what we were served in other hotels during our trip.
The breakfast was fine, a buffet with everything you’d expect - hot and cold food. The reception staff were very friendly.
Location is a little way from the centre but took us 25 minutes to walk. It’s a quiet area so no problem getting a good sleep.
Overall, for the price, it was fine and served our purpose well.
Hotel is okay, service is kind.
Rooms are fine.
Food is tasty and breakfast is vide.
I did not like the layout of hotel. It has kind of oldish, vintage look.
The hotel is very large, and used to have two blocks of accomodation, however only one has been renovated and is in use, the other sits derelict and empty on top of the bar and restaurant.
The rooms are basic, but very clean. My room was actually laid out like a small studio flat (It had a small square hallway with fitted wardrobe, a door into the bathroom, and a door into the main room) - the dark wood everywhere makes the rooms seem darker than they actually are!
The bathroom was small, but clean and everything worked.
The common areas are pleasant enough - outdated, but large and spacious. There is a nice bar and restaurant. Its a 15 minute walk to town - but pleasant, not uphill, and in a safe area. The trams to town are a 5 minute walk.
The staff were friendly and spoke excellent english in a country where you wouldn't expect them to.
One thing - this hotel seems to be popular with large school trips. During the latter half of my stay, the rest of my floor was taken up with german schoolchildren who insisted on running and knocking on their friends doors loudly and repeatedly at 7am. It may be worth checking if there are any group stays and asking to be allocated a room away from them, if booking.
But I'd wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, and would definately stay here again!
"Do NOT get a room on the street. Make sure it’s on the opposite side, if you HAVE to stay here."Read full review
