We were only there one night but it's a very nice place, no complaints. Within walking distance of the city central sights. Long walk from the bus station if you come in on the bus. We left early in the morning so did not get to try the breakfast.

Me and my wife stayed two nights in the superior room. From the moment the valet took our car and we entered the grand doors, we could absolutely feel the historic, luxurious vibes of this building at every corner. Very much recommended!

We stayed for one night, nice interior. Minus for welcoming on reception without offering a drink. We stayed the night when daylight saving time was done from 2AM to 3PM. At hotel they wasn’t ready to prolong breakfast a bit longer. So we payed night with breakfast without having one. Room is nice, bed is comfortable, pillows should be better. Or you should have a choice in 5* hotel. No kettle in room, is unacceptable for 5* Also, on reception was a lady who is not native in Croatian, so she speaks with you half Croatian, half English

What - a - hotel! You feel like you've stepped back in time as soon as you set eyes on this place. A marvellous historical building steeped in tradition. I was welcomed by a most polite gentleman at reception who swiftly checked me into my room. The reception staff, concierge, restaurant staff and anyone else who worked here always referred to guests as "Lady" or "Gentleman" - a classy, traditional touch. All staff also spoke perfect English and were helpful with local information. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and a bar, which I used during my stay. Service was first class. The breakfast is exceptional as well - there has a breakfast buffet, but you could also plenty of freshly brewed coffee and tea. The hotel has a lovely terrace, which is wonderful to sit on in the summer sun. The location of the hotel is fairly central, but not too noisy. It is a short walk to all major Zagreb attractions. There is a spar supermarket around the corner. I attended a conference in the Emerald Ballroom of the Esplanade and it was quite exquisite. You really must see the dome! The hotel also has several smaller conference rooms and is ideal for business purposes, without being a stereotypical business hotel. Finally, the rooms. I found the rooms to be exceptionally comfortable, with a traditional writing desk, flat screen tv, minibar and excellent bathroom with a bath and a standing shower. No ironing board, but a call to reception and one was brought up in a couple of minutes. The only strange thing is that there was no coffee machine or tea in the room, which is strange for a 5 star hotel. I ordered room service to the room and goodness, wasn't it fabulous! Esplanade Zagreb is expensive. However, you really do get what you pay for with a very comfortable, 5 star stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the Esplanade. The staff were delightful - the young man who dealt with us at reception was very pleasant and efficient. And the breakfast staff were charming and very attentive. The room - a de luxe twin - was huge and very comfortable. Coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice but that really is the only criticism I can think of. Fantastic hotel in the grand old style and lovely staff. Breakfast was great too, with lots of freshly cut fruit. Excellent value.

Well, I booked a 3 day stay in June 2023 a few months ago and LOT canceled the flight that day to Warsaw, so had to adjust my Itinerary a few days. I was paying a little over 200 euro a night. The new rate was 276 euro due to higher occupancy they tell me. The hotel said they would offer me a 30% discount nonrefundable rate of 227 euro. Firstly, they have a math problem as that is only 18% off. Second the reason I changed was due to the airline. There is also Covid, the war etc. etc. So, who in their right mind would bet 700 euro on no changes in today's environment. I can see no offer, but an unreasonable offer was a bit disappointing.

I am admittedly biased towards the charms of old hotels. There's something about the design of the spaces, meant to draw you out of your room and into the communal areas with books, or cocktails, or just comfy sofas. The Esplanade is a beautifully kept place, centrally located, and with a fantastic staff. The food was great, the people helpful, and the room spacious and well appointed. Will definitely stay again on future trips.

Stayed for 5 days in December 2022. The hotel is a well maintained, traditional hotel. The room was very spacious. There was a nice sitting area with a couch and a desk. We had guests visit us and there was plenty of room for other people. The bathroom was also very large and had a separate, deep tub. The room was very quiet. We never heard other guests even though the hotel seems full. Breakfast was delicious. And we enjoyed the food at the Christmas market as well. The staff was very helpful as well. We were visiting my friend’s family so we need directions to some less touristy areas. The concierge was incredibly helpful in getting us taxis and giving us walking directions.

Great service, lovely hotel, rooms a little tired around the edges, but lovely and clean and the beds are comfortable. Food was great and the service excellent. Very well located close to all amenities.

An excellent, sophisticated and professionally run hotel. It is definitely one of the hottest venues in town; the bar always full in the evenings. The public rooms are quite opulent, made even more inviting by the tasteful Christmas decorations during our winter break there. Whilst there we sampled both the brasserie and the ‘Zinfandel’ restaurant, which are both excellent; due in no small part to the helpful and charming staff employed. Indeed all the personnel we encountered were efficient and helpful. If I had to carp I would say the reception staff were perhaps more efficient than friendly. Based on previous reviewers’ comments we requested a room with bathtub, on a high floor and not overlooking the inner courtyard. I am pleased to say the hotel management more than satisfied our wishes (this is not always our experience elsewhere) as we were given a lovely room (room 411) on the fourth floor. It was spacious, well appointed, and included a small lobby area (with wardrobe etc) together with a bathroom with separate bath and shower. It also enjoyed a fantastic view over the park gardens that extend out from the eastern side of the hotel, so that you could just about see the skaters on the distant ice rink. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
