I arrived with a friend I met on the bus from Romania, he was interested in staying at the hostel however on arrival the reception guy was rude and he left to find a hotel (he was 70+ years old). I was already booked to stay here so I continued to check-in. The guy in reception wasn’t too polite to me either, I’d been travelling for 12 hours so I couldn’t be bothered with the conflict I just wanted to go to bed as it was nearly midnight. I paid for breakfast included but wasn’t informed where this was or that it was even available for me. When I asked I was told I could have it but it wasn’t ready as I was the only person staying here at the time. No word of this until I asked. I never ended up eating breakfast here anyway- decided I’d rather not bother. I was also supposed to be offered a free welcome drink with my booking - nothing was offered. The whole place stunk of cigarette smoke, the bedroom was less smoky but loud from the noise from what appeared to be a 24 hour club downstairs. The house was constant. The showers were disgusting and dirty and sprayed in all directions. There was a hole in the closing to the shower so someone would be able to see you showering. Safe to say I wore flip flops in there as I was worried I’d cut my feet on something it was so badly kept. The shower door didn’t even close The toilets stunk of urine and appeared to have never been cleaned. The dorm was dingy and disgusting, the sheets looked questionable, it smelt in the room and there was no mirror available apart from a piece of a cracked one in the hall.

I chose it for the great location - 5 minutes to NDK metro station and walking distance to many key sightseeings. Art Hostel has a 24/7 reception which is a big upside if you're a night wanderer like me. The staff was friendly and helpful any time of the day and night. There's a bar in the basement, but it was quiet and never interfered with my sleep. I stayed in a private room on the second floor and it was quite nice. I had my own balcony and a private entrance to the bathroom. The cleanliness could be improved a little bit, but there was nothing too terrible. This hostel is an unusual, artsy and slighty rugged place. I'd say it's not for everyone and I don't think it would be very suitable for a family vacation. But I have very good memories about my stay there and would definitely go back.

The mess I can forgive, but it had one of the least helpful and most inattentive staffs I've experienced. I had to wait an extra hour to check in, was told to come back later to pay, then again an hour later to get my change, and again 2 hours later to get my receipt. Every time they dealt with me they seemed uninterested and incompetent. The next day I was supposed to change rooms until my bus home at midnight, but the staff were never at reception was never there to give me a new key and show me to my room, and by 11pm still weren't there to take my room key, so I had to leave the city without getting my key deposit back.

I booked on booking.com and they did not submit my review! Because this place is using photos that do not represent it. The place was filthy with only one toilet and shower for everyone, toilet stunk of urine and was dark. My bed had blood stains on it! The young staff were great, but there was an older guy who checked us out and he was awful and very rude shouting at us basically and calling us stupid even though it was his mistake with the payment! Avoid if possible there are better places!

I had the worst time of my life at this place. I never experienced bed bugs bites but bcoz of this place, I experienced more than 100-bed bugs bites all over my body. My friends and I slept in the 4-bed dorm on the ground floor. Around 2 am I woke up with a feeling of something crawling on my arm. I turned on the light and I found that there were thousands of bed bugs on the wall next to my bed. I got up and went to the manager. He showed as if he was "surprised" and was not aware that the room was infested by bed bugs. I asked him what can be done and he said I can make you move on the 3rd floor. I asked if there the case was the same and he said: "No, previously we only heard of bed bugs issue from your current room only and nowhere else". I thought "WTF if they knew it was infested, why do they give this room." Then we moved to the third floor. Next morning I realized that it was too late already to change the room. I found that I had more than 100-bed bugs bite all over the body and needless to mention how painful it was. We decided to check-out and before that I went to see the room which we were given initially and I found that it was already given to a couple who slept there after we left. I could not believe how insane and greedy the hotel staff is to give the same room to someone else. I suffered from immense pain for the next 2 weeks and could not resume work/life. Today, after a month from that incident I still have small marks of bug bites. To add to the pain, I also had to throw my expensive travel bag and my clothes as I feared of carrying these bugs back home. I wish I could sue these people for their inhuman act.
