Detailed Reviews
Spent there only one night, do not want to stay again cause it is really depressive one. Breakfast is included and it is ok. Free internet. Perfect location. If there is a special offer, stay there for one night, if you are tourist it is not your place.

After reading some of the reviews on here I was pleasantly surprised although we arrived Sunday & left Wednesday so had no noise from the nightclub or erotic bar mentions in previous
reviews unfortunately because or the 2 licences premisses mentions above there is no bar available in the hotel for guests this was inconvenient for me as I was suffering from severe back pain and walking any distance was a struggle
However the taxi s here are metered and I think less than a third of the price in likes of sunny beach
So we managed to visit some bars and restaurants rated on trip adviser
The room not the biggest but more than adequate clean with kettle tea/coffee
Shower was hot and bathroom was clean
Room was also well heated while there was very low temperatures in Sofia
All in all I think this was good value & would use again (although from reading previous reviews would probably not like to stay over a weekend)

Showed up as a "walk-in" due to disaster at another hotel. Front desk accommodated
us right away. Stayed in large suite #36A. Comfortable room, decent breakfast, location was fine. Hotel staff was good and I recommend the hotel assistant, a gentleman who both whispers and whistles, as someone who provided great help.
Mr. Ditimar, who was on the front desk on Sat, was also most helpful.

This review is not based in whether the hotel is good or not, but in whether this is a good or bad 4-star hotel. In summary: THIS IS A TERRIBLE 4-STAR HOTEL. And since there has been some many different reviews I am going to try to set the record straight with a thru-and-thru revision.
The staff: Overall ok but there were a couple of incidents that shall not happen in a 4-star hotel:
First, the cleaning lady came to my room very early in the morning (8am on a Sunday morning when I was jetlagged). I actually woke when she knocked on the door twice, even though she did it gently. That not only caught me sleeping, but she actually entered the room while I was in bed there. She could not bother to wait for 60 seconds to hear an answer.
The second incident happened to a guy while I was there. I was asking the receptionist about a place to have dinner, and then a very normal looking guy came with a very normal looking girl, The receptionist immediatly questioned the guy about "the second guest". I have no idea who was that girl, but she did not look like a "professional" at all. I am sure he probably booked a single room, and I am sure he was not allowed another person, but here is where we see the difference between proper and improper staff. Proper staff would let that one slip, and later on make the inquire and tell the guy, alone, not to do it or even ask him for an extra charge or whatever, but the guy looked so embarrased and the girl looked so sad that it made me feel bad for them.
The room: There are all sorts of rooms, Mine, size-wise, was as big as a 4-star single room would be (depending on which country you rent). However, the furniture is definitely 2-star. Worn out, smelly,...specially the smell. The bathroom, while appropiate size-wise, was old and smelly too...this time really bad smell. I believe I saw a couple of bugs, too, but I cannot tell you whether they actually came from the bathroom, so this part of the test was inconclusive.
There was an A/C in the room, but it seems it was not cleaned in a while so I would not recommend to use it.
The breakfast: Horrible. Very few choices. No natural juice. Lots of cheap meat. Just not worth it. Coffee was ok though but came from a machine not unlike the ones you just put some coins on it.
Cleaninless: Halls smelled of tobbaco or maybe dew. The place was tiny and relatively clean, but I think a deep cleaning and renovation is definitely necessary. The bathroom incident did not help, and when I was sleeping I felt the smell of smoke or something like that in the bedsheets.
Summary: Old, dirty, touchless staff. I would be ok as a 2-star hotel, but because of the staff I would just recommend you to stay away from it at all costs.
If you are a follower of my usual reviews you will notice that I don´t seem to have mercy here. It is not personal, but this is truly the worst hotel I have been so far (and I have been around the world). I am usually on the understanding and positive side, and I truly tried really hard to find something good to talk about. My personal recommendation to this hotel, if they care to read my review, is at the very least to provide some better training to the staff.

This hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel in Sophia, Bulgaria. How is that possible? The rooms are filthy; old carpets smelling of stale smoke, bed coverings are unchanged, bathroom floors not swept. Management was not accommodating. They did not change our room nor would they give us a reimbursement for the night we had pre-paid for. Also, breakfast included limited items; consisted of eggs, buns, and watermelon. I would never recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is yes in the centre of Sofia but stop there. We arrived at the hotel around 1am and before signing any papers or paying I asked to see the room. Whilst in the Glass Lift going up to my floor I saw some dead Cockroach on the ledge but the worst was when entering the room I saw a lovely Cockroach on the Wall inside the room. I am sorry but I will not stay in a hotel that has Cockroaches in the rooms. I had to get a Taxi and start looking for a new Hotel. The receptionist understood why I would not stay and did not pass any comments. He called me a Taxi but was much of a help in finding a new hotel. I managed to find another hotel at 3am. I think I have made myself clear and I do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Another thing is that on entering the hotel the first sign that you see is an arrow with the words Erotic Bar (Or something on that line) and this is not mentioned on their website, as otherwise I would not have chosen this hotel.

The hotel is in an shady area with a high level of crime. It's an older, un-renovated building with an antiquated elevator. The carpets are at least 10 to 15 years old. In the basement there's an "erotic bar."
The rooms were relatively clean, but very basic with the furniture and appliances more suitable for a 2 star hotel, perhaps 1 star. For example, the shower curtain is plastic, barely hanging on a plastic railing and doesn't close properly. As a result, it's impossible not to flood the entire bathroom floor when you take a shower.
The towels were clean, but very used.
I can't conceive how this hotel can claim 4 stars. I have stayed at about 5 different 4 star hotels in Sofia, which have been all excellent and consistently one level below the 5 star hotels. There's something weird with the rating system.

We checked in quite late and just dropped out bags so we could go out for dinner. The room was dark, unmoderated and had no refrigerator. We didn't even wanted to take a shower depending how the bathroom looked like. When we got back home the lights went off in our room, so we had so sleep without airconditioner or lights. It was 1 am when we got back to our room. We did a early check out at 8 am, didn't eat breakfast or anything. Asked if we could get an discount because of our problem with our room, but nothing...! Terrible service and I would never come back.
Only good thing about this hotel is the location. But I'm sure you find another one that is better and also have a good location...

+1
I thought a 4 star hotel in centre of Sofia should be good. But the price reflected the place there.
It was so disgusting. Mold in the bathroom, dirty toilet, cracks everywhere... I didn't even flush the toilet without using paper to touch it.
Breakfast wasn't good either.
Actually I thought I will leave before I went to bed but I told myself it's only 2 nights, you can do this. I would never ever do it again and can absolutely NOT recommend this place.

Response from 205inab, General Manager at Gloria Palace Hotel
Responded Nov 20, 2019
Dear guest, there is not much we can say except that we are sorry for the horrible time you have had in our hotel. We are aware the bathrooms are a bit run down but we can assure you they are being cleaned every day. It is only because the furnishing is old that it might not look clean. We have renovated some of the rooms and we will continue to do it until all the rooms are brand new but it takes time and there is nothing we can do to speed things up. We hope you understand.
