Stayed at City Avenue for a week, and I rarely write reviews but was so happy with my time here I thought I had too. Staff extremely friendly and spoke English which helped as I didn’t speak any Bulgarian. Rooms are clean and pretty large for a 3 star hotel. Comfy beds, extremely efficient cleaning of rooms. Lovely smoking area garden and the hotel is in a great location for transport links or a short walk to city centre. 100% would stay here again if I come back to Sofia!
As a solo British traveller I wanted to mix comfort with low cost and this hotel was perfect. It's a 2 minute walk from the Opalchenska metro station which is on a direct line from the airport. Any journey on the metro is 1.60 Lev (about 75p) to and from any location - I really recommend using it for all your transport needs. I paid about £50 (about 120 Lev) for 2 nights including buffet breakfast in Bulgarian style which was excellent. The hotel is not an expensive establishment so don't expect the Ritz but for the price I paid I'm more than happy and would definitely visit again. If you are visiting Sofia and are happy to walk lots, you can do all the major sights in 24 hours including spending 2 hours on top of Mt Vitosha. I did this. Lots of public transport and you're away! To reach Mt Vitosha take the red/yellow metro line from Opalchenska to Serdica, switch to the blue line to Vitosha, then leave the metro and board the 66 bus (also 1.60 Lev) to Hotel Moreni. The public transport here is regular, cheap and reliable. I also recommend seeing St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Borisova Gradina Park and stopping for a quick lunch in the Paradise shopping centre (next to Vitosha metro stop). I ate a slightly pricier dinner which was outstanding at the Cosmos restaurant where the English was well-spoken. My trip up Mt Vitosha however was the highlight of my short stay in Sofia, it was beautiful and extremely peaceful. In total including my 100 Lev meal at Cosmos, I brought 210 Lev which was the perfect amount including tips for stay (arriving Saturday 10pm and leaving Monday 3pm).…
We have stayed 3 nights in this hotel, first of all on check-in, we have not been informed that the room we booked ( deluxe double) was not available, we found out when entered our room that we, in fact, have been given a twin room. We informed the staff in the reception, which said that our room will only be ready the day after, so we can move then. So if we wouldn't have complained they would have just left us in a cheaper room than we booked without saying a word... That episode just left a bad taste for the whole duration of the stay, even though we were able to move to the correct room the next day in the morning. The hotel is a bit neglected, bedsheets, not the newest. Also don't expect to see the same quality as in the pictures. another thing - the air conditioning is basically not working, so both rooms were very hot at night. Also, they only have single duvets, so you and your partner will get a duvet each. On a positive note, the breakfast was very nice, with fresh ingredients and quite a variety of choices. The location was okay as well.…
We have stayed in 5 star hotels which were not as good as this one. Excellent in every respect. Lovely friendly Staff Rooms are big. Very clean. Location was great for our needs and we did a lot of walking. Very close to the mall of Sofia. Really perfect.
Good clean hotel, excellent amenities for the price. Great location. Unfortunately hotel stuff (room service, cleaning) is opening room doors with their keycard without knocking or letting themselves know in any way. This is unacceptable breach of privacy.
Excellent location, close to city center and metro station. Staff is really nice and attentive ( both at Reception and housekeeping). I've got Superior room which was very big and comfortable, well kept and cleaned daily. Good WiFi and free parking in front of the hotel. Only few English channels on TV. Breakfast ( you can chose between 4 options) was delivered to the room due to current covid-19 restrictions. Will definitely stay here again in my next visits to Sofia.
The hotel is located 250m from Mall of Sofia, 150m from metro station. Has free parking (very important). Our room was at 4th floor and was huge! There was a bad smell when you entered at bathroom. Breakfast was good. Generally was a fair choice!
.This is a small hotel near the center of Sofia and very close to the metro station Opalchenka. If you visit Sofia by car the free parking is an ad! The rooms at the ground floor are rather small, better pay a little bit more and get a room at another floor., more spacious and more bright. When we entered the room there was a bit smelly but when we put the heater on , the smell disappeared. The mattress is soft and the bed very low. They clean the room every day and the personnel at the reseption is very friendly. The breakfast is really good, has a bit of everything.
The hotel is located in a very good spot. The parking is a bit crowded and the reception asked for our car keys to keep. In the bathroom the body lotion wasn’t replaced and was half empty. In my night tables drawer there was old pez candies and some dirt of some sort of liquid. My pillow had some stains on it. The bathroom has a little mold here and there. Generally is a nice hotel but I wouldn’t give it a very high rate.
Stayed 2 nights in City Avenue hotel, check in very quick and easy, Staff don't speak much English but they are happy to try! all staff were happy and helpful! rooms adequate, very clean, beds low to the floor but fairly comfortable, spare pillows in wardrobe where there is also a safe, good shower with shampoo, shower gel etc provided! Breakfast wasn't included but we paid 6 Euros each a day just for coffee (no Cafe's close by!)! Food selection at breakfast not the best! Location is 2 minute walk from metro station and the ticket is only 80p from the airport! It is about 10-15 minute walk to Sofia centre!
