We stayed at Kandilj for 6 nights altogether in April and May. We began our trip with staying at Kandilj for 3 nights and then went off to Mostar and Neum, returning to Sarajevo before flying home. In our second stay there, my husband became very sick with an infection. All of the staff were so helpful and caring, offering food, help with taxi and airport arrangements, and just making us feel at home. We stayed in Room 6, right off the courtyard, and weren't bothered by much smoking. We loved the access to the ground floor breakfast room and enjoyed our breakfast surrounded by others speaking many languages. The HD TV was a bonus, allowing us to watch European tennis tournaments while my husband rested. The location is great -- quiet yet very close to the old town and the tram.

The hotel is a bottom of steep hill , very close to the latin bridge and old bazar. The bazaar is 5 minutes walk. The room had one double and a single bed, plenty for one person. The room was ok. The room had a lot of ethinic stuff which was nice. The coridor outside the room had a funny smell which meant I could not stand outside the room. There is a dog in the neighbourhood which barks occotionally , but otherwise it is very quite. The main attaction in the breakfast is the made to order eggs which are excellent. Wifi speed was good

This clean, comfortable guest house is full of character. It's in a quiet location, and only a five minute walk to the Latin Bridge and riverside taxi rank and the train. It is warm, welcoming, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I found it totally endearing.

Location-wise, Kandilj is a clear winner – a mere 5–15 minutes of leisure walking to many of Sarajevo’s must-see landmarks such as the Tomb of the Seven Brothers, The Emperor’s Mosque, City Hall, House of Spite, Latin Bridge and the Old Town. My room had 3 single beds which, had there actually been 3 persons staying in it, would have been quite a squeeze as the room was rather narrow. On my own though, it was more than adequate. That said, there’s plenty to love about Kandilj than just its strategic location – it offered a complimentary one-way pick-up (best to take this on your arrival as the little lane on which Kandilj is situated can be tricky to find), the homely feeling created by the traditional Bosnian carpets scattered about the interiors and the daily “surprise”

Our room was clean and comfortable, though a bit warm. Breakfast was plentiful and staff was very pleasant. One negative point however ,was the fact that staff smoked in a small courtyard and the smoke wafted into our room.
