Villa Tafaj is one of the first private hotels present in Albania. The building itself dates from the years 1920s, which belonged to one of the oldest families of the capital, the TAFAJ family. The family business, which was first opened on 22 March 1991 in the form of a tavern, offered traditional Albanian cuisine. Later on, the business expanded and welcomed the first foreign visitors who came in Albania. Since then, the business continues the tradition of welcoming. Today the business not only offers traditional and Mediterranean cuisine of the restaurant, but it also offers the facilities of its own bar, pizzeria, relaxing garden, conference room and a 25 room hotel. The warm hospitality, professional service, administration of the TAFAJ family itself and the combination of the classic with the traditional are signature characteristics of this family run business.

This hotel has the best location. Lots of restaurants all within in easy walking distance. Very convenient for the main square which is also just a short walk. The breakfast is superb. The reception staff are adorable. Always helpful and a friendly greeting. I didn't have to tell them my room number. They always remembered) I would recommend this hotel

This was the group hotel for two nights. It is well located in a rather quiet neighbourhood, some 6-7M from Skanderbeg Square. I get the impression it was converted from an upper class home re the layout. Check in was efficient, a complimentary bottle of water welcome. My single room was expectedly small ie with no place to put the luggage, you adapt. The a/c was very good. The bathroom was fine, including soap and shampoo. No coffee making facilities were available. Wifi signal was excellent. Not a big concern but I could hear the shower next door. There is a small safe in the room. Happy to have a firm mattress. The breakfast was very good. You got your java from the bar and there was a buffet with ample enough choice. It’s a solid choice if staying in the capital.

I love this place. Well situated, in the heart of Tirana, but without being too noisy. Clean rooms, friendly staff, excellent service. The food of the restaurant is also amazing. Keep up the good work guys!!

I stayed here for two nights during a tour of Albania. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is good. My room was small and the WiFi in my room was so poor as to be unusable, although it could be used in the small reception area. Despite being given a remote control, there was no TV in my room. When I came to check out I was charged 560 lek for four small bottles of water that I found on their own in the fridge (which was definitely not a minibar) and had drunk. The hotel had not informed me that these were to be charged and I had assumed they were complimentary. The same bottles of water in a nearby shop would have cost me 30-50 lek each. I think this is disgraceful behaviour and an obvious rip off. It has coloured my opinion of the Albanian people, which hitherto had been very positive.

My son and I stayed here for a weekend in Tirana (recommended for a city-break), ahead of a walking tour in northern Albania. Villa Tafaj is an attractive low-rise hotel, as its photo shows, which is conveniently located just five minutes walk from the city's central Skanderbeg Square, with the airport bus stop just off the opposite corner of the pedestrianised square, and most of the city's main tourist sights nearby. Our room was cosy but with comfortable beds, very effective air conditioning, and a good range of satellite TV channels. We booked a room with a balcony, which turned out to be a substantial outside area with table and chairs, overlooking the street - I would definitely recommend going for this, if available. Our room was cleaned and tidied - twice in one day! The buffet breakfast on our first morning (Saturday) was pretty dismal, but on the Sunday the waiter-delivered a la carte breakfast from a sizable range of options was much better. Be aware that the hotel prefers to be paid in cash rather than credit card; fortunately, as the room-rate was quite modest (55 euros a night for our double room, through booking.com), we had enough spare cash, although I'm sure they would have accepted payment by credit card if necessary. All in all, we were pleased with our choice of Villa Tafaj for our inexpensive and conveniently located accommodation in what proved an unexpectedly pleasant, friendly and interesting city.

Hotel Vila Tafaj Formerly 3 houses so lots of small staircases and a very confusing layout Very small single rooms, you literally could touch the walls and some rooms are internal with no outside window on the corridor so become quite noisy, the beds are also quite narrow and very short Plastic flip flops are provided but did not use them as there was no guarantee that they were clean or sterile as obviously used by many guests Thin curtains in the bedroom let in light so will cause you to wake early Poor breakfast, the hot choice very limited, overcooked eggs, no fruit, and limited bread options, there was nice fresh yoghurt, but bitter coffee and weak tea choices

Stayed here at the end of tour. Hotel is centrally located and has a lovely courtyard. Room was good size and comfortable for a few nights visiting the city. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Very helpful with changing a night to visit Berat. Keen to help wherever possible and print boarding passes for us with online check in not available on departure. Breakfast was reasonable, a little oily for me so some room for improvement. Recommend for short stay in town

I was a little sceptical when I arrived as had read some negative reviews, but I was greeted with the warmest of welcomes by staff who really could not do enough to ensure my stay was enjoyable. That said, the room was not exciting, but I was there to explore the city and not luxuriate in a suite!!! It was certainly comfortable enough with shower room and was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was fine too. The walk to the main square takes a couple of minutes, so I recommend this cosy, friendly hotel to travellers like me.

Had a great stay , very friendly and helpful staff Had an issue with boarding passes (wizzair don’t let you checkin till 48 hours before , then they say Tirana airport doesn’t take mobile boarding cards so you need to print them ! ) and the staff were super helpful and printed them out Location was great , very close to central area We took the airport bus , 300lek each , takes 25 minutes and leaves on the hour from the other side of the opera house/main square , super easy

Good hotel that is value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the place is kept clean. Breakfast is substantial. It is very centrally placed for visiting many of the sites of Tirana. The only downside is that some of the rooms are small.
