I booked 3 nights at Tirana Backpacker Hostel and ended up staying for more than 1 month. The place is indeed huge with an amazing garden with paintings on the walls (mostly from guests), sofas and everything you need to chill. The dorms are simple and perfect with comfortable beds and lockers and I would say they match with the atmosphere of the place: there's all the basic services you need, plenty of common space also, and everything you need is so easy to get. For some reasons this place also attracts mature type of travelers with very incredible talents, stories to tell, and always ready to share anything. As an introvert traveler, I've never felt so comfortable staying in the comon areas chilling out with people. There is really a great vibe of playing music together (even if you've never played), cooking together, having a drink together - or not if you just feel like having a quiet evening with yourself. Ilir the owner, Renato, Resi and the volunteers (which I was part of for 1.5 week) were not only friendly, they also all have that very humanist philosophy that makes you feel comfortable and at the right place all the time. Riza the dog is also part of the crew and always brings a lot of joy (and laugh sometimes!) and she comes to meet us in the common areas. The idea of "cultural exchange" here makes its best sense. Tirana Backpacker Hostel is really more than a classic hostel, it just catches the essence of what any hostel and human interaction should be. Thank you for the stay, will be back for sure!…
This hostel is clean and tidy. Our flight from Rome got cancelled so we couldn’t make it to the first night that we’ve booked. The hostel didn’t charge us. We only had to pay for the one night that we did stay. There is free breakfast included. The facility is clean. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They let us store our luggages for 2 weeks when we go hiking free of charge. The hostel is located very close to the main square and to the city center. I would definitely stay here again.
The hostel is lovely: the way it's decorated, the spaciousness of the rooms, the common areas, the garden, staff and volunteers, and the great vegan (friendly) dinners at night. Most visitors talk to each other and I think almost everyone will feel welcome there. And they have a dog!
Approachable, helpful staff, excellent value for money, lovely big garden area with seating and a bar that's being built. The dorm beds have their own individual lights and plug sockets. Dinner is on offer at 7.30pm for 2 euros or 250 lek, the portions are big and it's delicious (remember to sign up before 5pm). Breakfast is included. Laundry service available. Toilets and showers are nice and clean. I recommend and would return! The only negative point is there a resident dog.
I stayed in this hostel for the recent Wales football match. The hostel has a resident dog, so if you don't like/allergic to dogs, it's something to be aware of. The room I was in was fine. Not many plug sockets available, but I managed fine. The WiFi was good and the showers and toilets were always clean. They don't have a card payment system, so best to have enough Euros or Leks available.
