I was in Room 209. It has a large bed, table and chair, AC, and power sockets conveniently located next to the bed. There is no TV. The bathroom has a shower (no bath), only liquid soap (no bar soap) and no hair dryer. While the room does not have a fridge, there is a common area - living room, kitchen and balcony - so you can store things in the communal fridge. My room was on the upper floor with a hallway/balcony outside. Sometimes I had to wiggle the key a bit to open the door to my room. The Wi-Fi password shown on the information card in the room was not quite right (had to add a ‘’1’’ to the end if using the main Wi-Fi network, but, as written, it worked for one of the other networks). The staff here are very helpful. For example, one evening one of the lights started flickering in my room, which was very annoying. When I mentioned it to reception, they came over quickly to replace the bulb. You’re not near restaurants, so bring food back with you in the evening or take a taxi to get there. There is a very small minimart right across the road if you’re desperate for food or drink. There is a security guard at the front gate. Sweet Guest House is a good option for somewhere to stay in São Tomé.

The room was simple. We had twin beds and private bathroom. The room was very clean. I mean you could done surgical operations on the floor. That's how clean it was. There was air conditioning. The breakfast was good, probably slightly over priced. The restaurants were a little far though. We went mostly to Xico's (about 1km) or Papa Figo (about 2km). I'm sure there are much more inexpensive options near-by too but we didn't find those. The neighborhood felt safe. Although when it gets dark it gets really dark. But there's nothing to worry about. Wear good shoes and walk carefully! The guys at the reception were really nice (we met Bemilton and Abdel) and they speak good English. They can change some dobras for you. Also they can get you some Fresh water. We used the tap water for washing our teeth and it was just fine. I might not drink it though.

Our Impression of the guest house was formed even before we arrived. Bemilton was so helpful in giving us information about what to do in Sao Tome and the costs thereof which was so instrumental in our planning. We found that the information on the net was a bit limited. He was so patient with us as we asked so so many questions! Our flight was delayed and our check in was really late but it was stress free. Being able to exchange Euros for Dobras at the guest house was really useful. The guest house is central and is walking distance from the market and some cool restaurants in Sao Tome. Our room was lovely and incorporated African print into the curtains and bedding, the sheets were so soft, and the room had air-conditioner. The bathrooms are shared but always super clean so we had no issues there. The guest house offers breakfast at an additional cost, but it's affordable. It has great common area upstairs with views overlooking the city, and a kitchen with all amenities so you could self cater if you wanted. There's also a jar of curated "get to know me"type questions in the common area downstairs which I thought was pretty cool and fun to play with new people that you meet. The staff really went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. If they made recommendations for restaurants, for example, they would always follow up and address criticisms if there were any. I can't really fault this place, it's a great guest house and they go the extra mile!

The best thing about here is the cozy atmosphere, the shared, fully stocked kitchen and common area. I met other travelers there and even learn how to cook some delicious Nigerian food with 2 Nigerian men that were there for work. The common area has a big TV and couches for people to sit and relax, as well as an excellent outdoor area, right off the kitchen, to eat outside. The vibe is very good there and the rooms are spacious and comfy. Of all the places that I stayed, this one had the best air conditioning, which was a huge plus! The staff was helpful and even organized a trip for another traveler and I to the south of the island. They did all the work and all we had to do was show up, pay and enjoy the trip. Breakfast is available in the morning at an additional price, which included tropical fruits, coffee, eggs, etc. Highly recommended.

Me, my husband and our friend stayed in Sweet Guesthouse in June 2019. It's a lovely place, with very comfortable rooms. It is a mixture of rooms with private bathrooms and some with shared. Lots of lovely common spaces, including a kitchen. Everything was very clean, including the bathrooms. And best of all, there was air conditioning and hot water. No mosquito nets, but there are hooks if you bring your own. They have a continental breakfast for €7 - nothing special but definitely adequate. The staff are lovely and the reception staff all spoke good English. They can also can organise tours for you if you ask in advance and for competitive prices. It's a 10-15min walk from the centre of São Tomé city. All in all, a great place to stay.
