Great hotel upon arrival from LAX. About a 10 minute walk to ferry terminal. $15 cab fare from hotel to ferry terminal.
$30 cab fare from airport in Papaette.
Beds are comfortable but rather firm. Service was good, air conditioning in room. Rooms facing street...More
Easily the worst hotel we've stayed in. Think one star motel. The bed is only beaten for awfulness by the two lumpy pillows. Asking for more pillows in French was met with apologies that they have too many guests to offer more than one pillow...More
This hotel is ideally located in the middle of town. Lots of traffic noise but near the ferry and all the shops and cafes. The building is old and in need of refurbishment. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful but when there are difficulties,...More
We wanted a place to stay in Papeete close to the cruise dock. Didn't need anything fancy as we would have plenty of that on our 12 day cruise! We stayed 2 nights at the Tiara Tahiti Hotel. We chose a waterfront room...which happens to...More
This hotel is a quality budget hotel.
My family & friends often stay at this hotel as a rest stop prior to taking an international flight.

Congratulations on your wedding!
Food in Tahiti is expensive. We had breakfast included with our stay at Tahiti Tiara. But it was lots of baguette with some fruit & coffee. There was the option for one egg or some yogurt. But it was mostly carbs. Believe the meal would have cost $10 US.
We ate at Le Roulettes food trucks by the waterfront park for dinner. Great atmosphere & lots of choice. Meals were $10-15 each. There are lots of cafes with outside seating in Papeete. We didn't go to any high end restaurants there as we had great food in Mo'orea & on our cruise. If I were you l'd check out restaurants on TripAdvisor for whatever town you are in. Can't go wrong!
There are food vendors for lunch at the municipal market. Very crowded but nothing written in English!
There's also the option to pick up some food at the grocery store & have a picnic by the water.
There are boat tours that you can catch at the marina across from Tahiti Tiare. Again check out TripAdvisor for some guidance.
If you rent a car you can drive to Tahiti Iti to the south. Teahupoo is a big surfing beach there & worth seeing. La Plage de Maui (on Maui Beach) has fabulous seafood at the restaurant. Vanira Lodge is a beautiful resort up in the hills. They serve breakfast and dinner. It might be worth a night or two... but rent a spa room for the A/C!
There are many web sites that talk about the drive around Tahiti. Frommer's has a good site. You can stop to see water falls, museums, lots to see. Just try not to drive through Papeete during rush hour. It is insane!
Definitely take the ferry to Mo'orea. Cars are very expensive to rent there. Albert's Transport can do private or shared tours around the island. We used him to transport us to Sofitel. Also did a safari tour of the island. Great trip to Magic Mtn & Belvedere point. Dinner at Sofitel might be a good idea for some romance! They have entertainment, sometimes local dancers. Very good show. Beautiful setting. Only thing is sometimes service in the restaurant is poor. Other great restaurants on Mo'orea are Le Mahogany & Rudy's. Again, look on TripAdvisor to see what your choices are.
Hope this helps! Enjoy that beautiful part of the world!
