I stayed there for 4 nights early april and was really disappointed by Georges’s (the owner) attitude. First, he didnt want to put me in touch with the guide for excursions, he kept saying the guide will appear like by magic. Second, I rent an electric bike and left it near the parking with his permission. He came and made a whole scene very agressively, saying things such as: « i am telling you upfront so you dont sue me if the bike has a damage ». It’s important to consider how isolated we are in these islands, how safe these islands are and how much you rely on your host. George’s attitude didnt help in any way. Moreoever, the food was very average and expensive with huge portions that go to waste. The rooms were OK but no mosquito net so impossible to open the windows considering the heat. Overall a bad experience, I should have stayed at Tania’s pension nearby.

the male owner is just a nasty piece of work. never a smile, focusing only on money, an ugly snarl on his face all the time, generally negative, moderately helpful, but just SO unpleasant. the rooms are ok and the location is good.

Hello, Thank you for your opinion. However, I would draw your attention to a fact. The affected owner of a terminal cancer returning from his treatment on the island of Tahiti with her husband. This same owner who has died this Saturday, October 9th. Yes, you certainly have reason for some of your words. But learn to book your opinion without the history of the person who will be in front of you. Person, who despite the pain and sorrow that was hers kept trying to serve you as best she could. The Moehau Relay.

At all French Poolynesia We have not seen such selfish hosts and inconsiderate of their guests. All they care about is how to make you pay them mor money. The FOOD in their restaurant is very basic and not really tasty, but the prices as the expensive restaurants in Tahiti. Do not invite half-board because the price they charge for Dinner , is more expensive even the dishes on their menu, you can find local restaurants in the village just a few minutes walk, more delicious food at half price. u

Hello, Your comment leave us doubtfully. We would have appreciated to have your comment on the day of your visit to our facility and face to face. To take steps to improve our dishes (you notice as having no flavor ..: /?). The tone used in your post and the ways used to let us know, leave us more like a desire to harm us that enable us to improve. Regarding our rates, you came to eat in a restaurant and not a cheap snack. Best regards, The Relais Moehau

The island is fantastic, but in this small family hotel you will find the best food and the most charming people. Humo the manager is friendly and very attentive while Hina always smiling will let you relax with fantastic food perfectly mixing the French cuisine and the exotic flavors. On Friday night the happy hour will make a super happy atmosphere.

With two other companions, I recently spent four days at Relais Moehau, while waiting to join a boat in Hiva Oa. First, the location is good, as you can walk to "down town" very easily, and the port is not too far in the other direction. The accommodation is perfectly comfortable, clean and well serviced-- probably three star standard is right, but you don't want for anything, plenty of hot water, laundry service and so on. Where it really excels is in the friendly service and help from the owners and staff. They are most hospitable and helpful, and really interested in making your stay in Hiva Oa and the Marquesas rewarding. So they will arrange excursions and provide advice on local activities and attractions, all on short notice. And, what may be best of all, they are French as well as Marquesan, so food is very important, and the food at the Relais is excellent. There were always a variety of fresh fish served in different ways, and very good beef, all with delightful service. My lack of French may have meant that I missed some of the conversation, but everyone was so helpful that this did not seem to matter. Mark Johnson, Sydney, Australia.
