The elevator was not working. Rooms are filthy and hot water in the shower was not working. They moved us to another room equally as dirty but with a view. They should change the name to roach hotel. Worst stay ever!
I was pleasantly surprised to find that my suite was not only a a bargain but it was clean, tidy and has the best views of sakuna park and bathroom. The lift seems old but was reliable and the stairs are a good option if you are tempted by Mcdonalds or shanghai seafood downstairs. Ryan and Lorena were both very helpful and my stay was short but happy. The location and price were defintely the highlights and a dinner meeting at an amazing restaurant daikoko across the road was a huge bonus. Would recommend.
The reviews were mixed but I went with the location of the hotel, The first room was disgusting, there was foundation smeared on the wall, the toilet bowl shook when you flushed it, there was a big gap behind the toilet, the blinds in the bathroom were dirty, the mould on the bathroom ceiling,. The hallway (3rd floor) only had two working light bulbs. We asked to be moved to another room, the second room had a patio door but no handle just a rope and the door would open during the night. The 3rd room on the 5th floor was better and a bigger balcony but all the windows were dirty. And only one light bulb worked in the bathroom so the manager (Ryan De Vos) gave us a lamp. Tvs either didn’t work or the picture was horrible, had to pay extra for wifi in the room. From the outside this place looks like a prison, the elevator had no air fan and smelled of diesel. The owners mother would fall asleep in the lobby where I saw two cockroaches walking on the glass table , the family would eat their meals there. The father and son would smoke on the front steps of the hotel, this hotel was built in 1970 as a YWCA, and later became another hotel. The De Vos family from New Zealand purchased it just last year. The property needs a total over haul and it does have potential . There were signs saying it was “ under renovation” but I never saw or heard any renovations going on in the 5 days I was there. Being Canadian I have higher standards than what the De Vos can offer unfortunately. Only reason why I gave it 2 out of 5 was because of the 2 young girls at the front desk…
Staff is great - hats off to Ryan We had couple issues when we first arrived with our room but he did all he could to accommodate us. Hotel is located in the heart of Suva and though it’s being renovated for the price it very budget friendly. I’d go back again - 😃😃😃
Fortunately I read the other reviews and had a different hotel. We nonetheless had a 2 day training in their conference room. Although the staff is very friendly the place is broken, the poor people had to cook in the dark, so the food was always late and I got sick from the food that was prepared in a broken normal room on a camping table. The owner seems not to invest one little bit, everything I read from others seems true, seriously run down place, a health hazard. Can't recommend anybody for any reason to go there. Many other options in town also in this price range.
