We stayed at the Outrigger for only 2 nights as we were moving to another resort, which we had originally booked and couldn’t get additional days. It was a very last minute booking made online the day before as we wanted to make a quick exit of covid riddled Sydney. We booked 2 oceanview double bed rooms for our family of 5. On arrival we were greeted and offered a welcome drink while the check in process was taking place. We requested rooms as close as possible to each other way home wasn’t possible. We were happy to take whatever was available, knowing it was only 2 nights. After check in we were sent to book our covid rapid antigen tests for the next day. This was an excellent service. We booked a time slot and arrived the next day to be tested promptly. Our other resort made us queue by for 1.5 hours to get PCR tested and also charged $FJ125 more than the Outrigger. The resort is lovely and beautiful gardens surround the property. The rooms are comfortable, however are a little tired looking and definitely ready for an upgrade. The service and staff at the Outrigger was fantastic. They were always present and willing to go out if their way to help. We had a lovely dinner at Sundowners. The food was excellent, but took about an hour for main courses to come out. The chef acknowledged this and apologised for the delay and then offered us complementary dessert. The breakfast buffet was great and service was fabulous. They had staff on all stations serving people to minimise the handling of utensils to prevent the spread of covid. Not many other resorts are doing this. Definitely the Marriot wasn’t, where we continued our holiday. The other lovely touch that was offered at the Outrigger was the afternoon drinks and canapés. The staff knocked on your door and offered an alcoholic beverage and small canapés. From our experience at the Outrigger I would highly recommend it to families. The rooms are comfortable, the resort has a variety of activities available and a few different dining options. It doesn’t have all the thrills of a five star resort, however the service was fabulous and much better than the experience we had at the Marriott.

The good- -Lovely gardens and the resort looked nice -Good room ,toiletries and bedding (although almost no soundproofing from bathroom so only suited to established couples) -Mostly good food -Most staff very friendly (the general store was a notable exception) -We particularly enjoyed breakfast and lunch at adult pool Not so good- -The heavily promoted Ivi restaurant was closed without warning -Our room was cigarette smoked out every evening because neighbours were allowed to smoke on balconies -A nearby restaurant had the same quality meals for twenty something dollars that the Outrigger was charging 60 something for per course -Covid was just not being taken seriously. NO guest was wearing a mask (we could have at least been asked to put one on in reception and shops - I wouldn't have minded). No service staff were washing or disinfecting hands between guests. -Covid testing was amateur hour. The service desk was chaotic. We were never notified about our quick test results. When it came to the PCR- our passport numbers were wrong, our dates of birth were wrong, my gender was wrong, ands we didnt sort it until 9.30 PM when we were being picked up to leave at 4.30 AM which ruined the holiday with stress.(Staff didn't appreciate the urgency) -Not a lot to do there -I never saw more than 2 people on the whole beach ( and I never saw anyone snorkeling, so I didn't bother either) -Disruptive ball games were allowed in the adult pool -Not enough chairs around pools (chair "reserving" a universal problem but admittedly not as bad as some resorts) -1 and a half hours from the airport -One evening we ordered our curry "mild" and it was obviously pre made because it was super spicy and inedible- so why didn't they just tell us when ordering? -Restaurant staff were often not familiar with what was on the menu

Firstly it must be said that the staff at the Outrigger are some of the most incredible people we have ever met! Their kindness, joy, remembering our names and plans. I've never experienced anything like it - thank you! Special mention must be made to the activities team - Masi, Seru, Sailosi, Saki, Alfie and Wise. You made the trip for our teenage kids so memorable and fun. We hope to see you all again! Although a little dated, the resort facilities were great and well maintained. The outrigger had great systems to handle the covid requirements and testing process. The buffet breakfast was really good but unfortunately the food options for lunch and dinner were really lacking in quality. Some fresher and light options for lunch would be good. We felt the baravi was the best dining option but unfortunately the sundowner was really not very good especially for the price. And the buffet dinner quality was pretty poor. The food quality seemed to be much better when we came years ago (not sure if this will improve as they only just opened back up). The hardest part of the stay was checking out and sorting out the bill. My husband went up multiple times and at one point spent an hour at reception late at night trying to resolve additions to our bill that were not ours (meals we didn't order, extra charges for buffet breakfast even though our package included breakfast for all). Then the next morning, all the charges had been added back to the bill. This was time consuming and frustrating - I'm not sure how the bill got so messed up. We overheard many people with the same issues. I only bring this up as I think this could be easily resolved with some management. All in all - we would definitely return. It is a beautiful resort with the most wonderful staff. Thank you!

Upon arrival at Nadi airport we were met by our driver from the Outrigger Fiji Beach resort in a very timely fashion. He ensured we were confortabe and provided bottled water for the 1 hour drive to the resort, which included a very informative discussion on Fiji's history and the current state of affairs in the new covid world. Check in by the hotel reception staff was extremly efficient and informative and we immediately proceeded to the medical help desk to book-in for rapid tests and our pre-departure PCR test (extremly well organised). Our room was an ocean view room and very quiet and spacious and included all amenities. The daily complimentary drinks and snack service was a real treat. The pool facilities, the gymnasium and tennis courts were very well maintained and in excellent working order. The restaurants at the resort provide a very good cross section of foods and buffets. The Asian restaurant serving dishes from across Asia including the Fijian/Fijian Indian curries is excellent and the lamb curry and roti is delicious. For fine dining, Ivy's restaurant is absolutely superb and the chefs and serving team have an excellent eye for detail. The kokoda is superb and the prawn curry is absolutely delicious. A special call out to Ilaisa who made us feel so welcome. Finally, we were very keen to explore Fiji rather than spending our days lying by the pool. We were very fortunate to seek advice from Nazreen of Rosie's tour desk which can be found right beside the check-in counter. Nazareen recommended a number of excellent day trips including, Tivua Island, white water rafting in the Navua River, hiking in the national park sand dunes and Natadola beach, which is a beautiful white sand beach and has excellent waves if you are a surfer. We also visited Cloud 9 which is a pontoon located about 1 hour by boat from Denarau that includes music, wood fired pizza oven and music as well as snorkelling. A fantastic day trip. Our trip to the National Park and Natadola Beach was organised by Nazreen using a private driver (Wais of Debs tours) - this is a great way to explore different locations without the feeling of an organised tour - we did everything according to our time and schedule at very reasonable prices. An excellent holiday and very memorable. Thank you to everyone at Outrigger for making our holiday such a success.

I had an outstanding stay at this resort and recommend it for any other travellers. There are a wide array of restaurants to choose from, the adult pool is just stunning with the infinity pool and swim-up bar and honestly the staff really make the experience! I have never been anywhere where SO many hotel staff remembered both my name and my travel plans - it was so lovely to stay there with such welcoming and hospitable locals. It’s my favourite resort I’ve ever stayed at and I had other travellers who frequent Fiji more often that it is one of the absolute best 5* resorts on the mainland as compared to others in the same price range. Everything is taken care of for you, and the sunsets at night are breathtaking. I could write so much more but my expectations were surpassed by a mile! Thanks so much Outrigger🙌🏼
