I've been traveling around Fiji for the last three months and stayed in more than a dozen resorts and hotels across the country. This review of Wailoaloa is a comparison to the overall standards of hospitality I've experienced so far. Unfortunately, Wailoaloa is in a dreary world of its own. A "resort" is a place you associate with calm, relaxation, peace and warmth. No matter how run down a place is, I've seen staff providing this atmosphere for guests and creating that Fijian charm. There is no charm or resort-like atmosphere at Wailoaloa. When staff at Wailoaloa are engaged in a task they seem stressed and rushed. But when they are not engaged, they are standing around talking to each other or on their phones. They do not seem interested in their jobs or looking after their guests, which makes them completely unapproachable. The facilities are not well maintained. Given how hot it can get in Nadi, a pool is welcome, but a clean pool is more so. The pool at Wailoaloa is murky and has a yellow tinge to it. You cannot see the bottom of the pool clearly. Our experience of the rooms does not get any better. Yes, rooms, we changed rooms twice due to check in and maintenance issues. The majority of our stay was in room 412. The front "sliding" door does not slide. Instead, you will be required to do some grunt work and lift the door and guide it across the railings in order to exit your room. You will be rudely awakened at night by water dripping over your bed from the airconditoner. If you have any electronics plugged into the powerpoint located below the dripping airconditioner (like a laptop charger) it will be destroyed. Do not expect a warm shower, only cold showers in this room and make sure you don't touch the shower screens (in any room), as there is a 1 mm layer of grime across them. You can also expect your access card to the room to malfunction at least every second day. We unfortunately paid our stay in full through Agoda before realising what we had stepped into. Given the budget we were on, we could not forfeit the money we had paid to stay somewhere else, but really wish we did. We deeply regret our booking with Wailoaloa Beach "Resort".

I booked a room at travellers inn same company under (wailoaloa beach resort) wen I came into my room the rooms light wasn't working we changed the room 5 times at that night due to lock problems so they gave a room and wen I went to sleep an unknown person from outside entered the hotel and somehow opened front door coz the lock wasn't working properly and entered our room and took all our stuff nearly worth $1000 AND than we had to call cops and then we found out 2 to 3 rooms were robbed due to their doors lock wasn't working and they had security but no use and its suspected tat some off the staff is teamed up with thiefs because how do they know which rooms Locke is not working going to exact room 1 by 1 as it showed in camera If this is how they will operate their hotel than easily any guest can get raped , harmed or murdered without any1 knowing it their properties are not secured it really DANGEROUS TO STAY AT THEIR PROPERTIES and when I told them to pay of my loss and they told me they won't pay for my loss I told them than I had to claim they said it's ohk u can do what you want ........... because it's their fault they had security man but no use had doors in room but no use coz it couldn't lock

Firstly, I did a booking over the phone call and was confirmed by one of the staffs (forgot her name) then I called again two days before the trip to confirmed that everything is okay then another staff mentioned that there was no booking under my name ! Secondly, as we arrived around 3pm the rooms weren't ready so we had to wait though I was told that check in is at 1pm. 🙄 ... we booked two rooms and as we entered our rooms that is next to the pools it was very dirty and unpleasant... it really needs maintenance.. so i went back to the reception and requested them a better room since we had two kids with us. The receptionist showed us the other room that was near to the playground area which had the balcony.. it was okay for one night because other hotels were full at that time. We had to keep going to the reception to ask for towels and beverage item because there were none in the room.. toilets and bathrooms needs high maintenance. Some staffs were friendly. But I don't think I'll never visit it again.

My partner and I stayed at Wailoaloa Beach Resort for 3 nights after booking on Hotels.com. We paid £58.98 for 3 nights, and as a result we weren’t expecting a lot. The Resort was close to the airport which was an advantage and Port Denarau was about a 10/15 minute taxi ride away. I emailed twice in advance of arriving to arrange the free airport transfer that is advertised but I didn’t get a response, and there was no bus waiting at the airport so we had to pay $15 for a taxi, not a lot and we weren’t too bothered just hoped to get what they advertise. On the first day when we arrived we were asked by reception to pay an additional $42. I’m sure she said it was $7 a night to pay = $21, and that it was per person so $42. We were fine with this as we assumed it was a deposit or some sort of local tax, and is only about £14 altogether. On our first morning, we had a knock at our door asking for us to pay for the rest of our nights. Another $42 x 2. At this point I was concerned and asked what were we paying for, and the receptionist said the rest of our nights. I was confused as Hotels.com said we had fully paid and there is nothing to pay, it stated there would be a $20 deposit at the property but nothing else. I converted the £58.98 into Fiji Dollars, and found that the price of our room was only $35 a night according to Wailoaloa’s own website, so we had in theory already overpaid. I showed all this to the staff and they were adamant that we had to pay. In the end I rang Hotels.com to ask why and see what they could do, the gentleman on the phone was so helpful and rang the hotel for us and told them not to charge us anymore and to refund us the $42 that we had already paid extra. The call cost me about £10 but there was no way I was paying more to stay in this place. We never did get the $42 we initially paid back. On our first evening we had cocktails at Wailoaloa Beach Resort, we ordered only for the barman to approach us and say that the prices had increased they just hadn’t updated the menu. We paid an extra couple of dollars and thought okay, but in hindsight maybe we were conned here too. Please be careful about extra charges here! Moving on to the room, we had booked a three bed dorm room but were pleased when we found it was just the two of us staying in there. However, there were quite a lot of bugs in the room. On the bathroom walls, bedroom walls, in the shower. I wasn’t expecting it to be amazing, however I was constantly locking up my backpack to make sure none got in. There were holes in the floor at the corner of the room and a large gap under the door which we blocked with a towel, as it was big enough for a mosquito, possibly a frog. It’s also a very noisy place, and you could hear everything outside and next door because the walls were so thin. It felt like we were in staff quarters as we were woken up at 6am by loud music, talking and slamming of doors. The website also advertises free daily housekeeping, something else that we didn’t get and we ended up running out of toilet roll; which we went and bought instead. Be aware that there are a lot of frogs around at night. We also ate at the restaurant in the evening, and one night we had fried chicken and chips, the chicken was still bloody. Pros of this place are the free buffet style breakfast and swimming pool. However I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it, if you do choose to stay just please be careful with having to pay extras! It is not worth it for starters, don’t be scammed!
