We are cruising Fiji in our catamaran and recently spent several nights anchored off Sau Bay Retreat on the island of Vanua Levu. Wow!! What a gorgeous gorgeous place - a tranquil boutique retreat only reached by boat with capacity for a maximum of 12 guests. Carol and Nigel, the owners and managers, couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable,... More

We had an incredible time at Sau Bay! It was secluded (only accessible by boat) with all of the amenities we needed. The food was delicious (we are foodies) and the staff was friendly and very accomodating. We spent most our days relaxing in the sun on the private beach drinking coconut rums and SSS (Sun, Sand & Serenity) cocktails... More

I researched a trip to Fiji for years and decided to spend 9 nights at Sau Bay. The goal was to see the soft coral in the Somasoma straight/Rainbow reef and have a place to snorkel at the resort, and this place met and exceeded my expectations. On three days of scuba, my wife and I had the dive boat... More

We chose Sau Bay for 7-day stay largely based on TripAdvisor and Expedia reviews. We can see why people liked it. Being quite small its easy to meet and get to know other guests but still have your own space. The weather wasn't that kind to us but still managed to go out for a picnic and snorkeling trip at... Sau Bay is in a stunning location, you arrive only by boat. No roads, so once your there you get to enjoy the feeling of being relaxed without the hustle and bustle. The 120+ year old tree that sits in front of the main restaurant sitting area is a photographers dream. Perfect spot for sunset drinks. Loved waking up to... More

This is a pleasant retreat but its on the expensive side. Our cottage was nicely furnished, comfortable and clean. Sau Bay is tucked nicely away, you can hear the sea lapping against the shore at night and birds chirping in the morning. A giant tree beside the main building really adds atmosphere to the retreat. The food was general tasty... More

Spent 4 days, three nights here after a medical mission on another island. Say Bay (Carol) handled the arrangements for taxi and water launch from/to Matei Airport, all very easy to arrange. Great meals, very welcoming personnel, great location for scuba in the Somosomo Strait and Rainbow Reef portions as close as 10 minutes. Scuba was great with Tiko the... More

Sau Bay Retreat continues to be our favorite place to stay in Fiji! My husband and I have been to this lovely resort numerous times. On our most recent stay in April we were pleasantly surprised to see that the resort had not been affected by the recent tropical Cyclone Winston, unlike many other resorts in the area. During our... Although the weather was uninspiring, everything else about our weekend stay at Sau Bay in early April this year was as magical as our previous stay in 2014. We stayed at Sau Bay Retreat this time to celebrate a 50th birthday party and were in no way disappointed. Right from being collected by Captain Carl of the Sau Bay water... More

As an avid snorkeler and quite nutty shutterbug :-), our recent trip to Bora Bora left me yearning for better and more extensive coral life. Much of the coral in Bora Bora had unfortunately been damaged over the years and very little is left. As I started researching for the "best" place on earth for coral, and of course, underwater...
