The Rio Sagrado in the Sacred Valley is an unforgettable property. The grounds are spectacular with lush gardens and beautifully appointed cottages that provide privacy and tranquility. The property adjoins the Amazon River with steep mountains on the other side. The service was impeccable and they made you feel as a welcome guest. The food at the restaurant was outstanding. We enjoyed local fare, fresh trout, and beautiful fruits and vegetables. We would like to thank the management for providing wonderful service.

How beautiful the grounds and sounds of the wind and river. Excellent service and attention. We felt like the only guests there! Loved feeding the baby alpacas. Wished we had more time to extend our stay.

We had a nice stay at the Belmond Rio Sagrado. The property really is beautiful and the food is excellent, like all belmonds. Our issue were the tours. I did 3 excursions with Belmond. 1 was terrible, the other just wasn't what whas described in the pdf and the last one was fine. We tried to do the HORSEBACK RIDING IN THE SACRED VALLEY. But first of all, the location of the tour was changed and our transfer (also from belmond) wasn't notified. We did a 30 minute drive from the hotel only to discover they had changed the location. We waited 20 minutes in an closed door. When we discovered the correct location, I did not enjoyed the tour. Our instructor wasn't able to control his on horse (a very new one) and the location just wasn't nothing like described in the agency pdf. It wasn't a beautiful field but an street full of dogs in the middle of poor houses. It was so discomfortable I asked to return in the middle of the tour. It was not at Belmond's level of quality and frankly, I was very disturbed,. There was also a mistake in the charging. The I received in my email from JOURNEYS IN PERU Belmond Agency said the tour was USD 181,00 and the hotel said it was USD 240,00. Because they charged me for 181,00 (before the tour) they said they could not make any more discounts, even though my experience was awful. The Maras Salt Mine tour wasn't what was described in the panflet. The pdf I received in my email from the JOURNEYS IN PERU Belmond Agency said "WALK TO MARAS SALT MINES" but the tour I did was a car ride. We also did a a tailor made tour to Machu Picchu, which was fine, although the tour guide didn't have a very profound knowledge in inca archeology.

My husband and I spent three glorious nights at this resort on our recent trip to Peru. If you're considering staying here during our trip to the Sacred Valley-wait no further and book! The staff could not have been kinder (special thanks to Jefferson, Javier, Alexandra, Wenderly, Diego, Mailey and Yesica/Maria at the spa!) and we felt very special and well-cared for. The food at the included breakfast was delicious, the pool was divine, the setting could not have been more beautiful. 10/10 would stay here again on a return trip to Peru-it was worth every penny.

We stayed at Rio Sagrado before visiting Machu Picchu. It was a pleasure to be there. The staff took great care of us, and the hotel organized a fantastic excursion with a Belmond tour guide named Adriana. She was outstanding! We went horseback riding and to Pisac. We had a lovely lunch at a remote hacienda that was included in our day. The people were all so kind to us and the hotel staff (Jefferson, Graciell, and Dany in particular) were amazing!!! The resort was very peaceful and accommodating.

Not only I found Río Sagrado a great spot where to rest after our visit to Machu Picchu, but it was also a great place to exercise! The pool’s temperature was perfect, and the hotel’s location invited you to go for a pleasant run around the valley. The hotel’s manager, Javier, was very helpful in showing me the way to get the best views of the valley during the run. I also found the buffet offering to be very diverse. In addition to traditional options such as omelettes and pancakes, there were salads and many fresh additions to have a healthy breakfast! Location-wise, Belmont’s Río Sagrado is also very well endowed with a private view of the river and its quiet surroundings. Nonetheless, it is also very close to Urubamba where one can find great restaurant offerings. Its proximity to the Ollantaytambo train station (10-15 min) also makes it a great choice for resting after Machu Picchu. My two night stay was very pleasant thanks to the aforementioned elements, but specially thanks to a very dedicated staff that was always welcoming and helpful. I will definitely go back.

The view was magnificent. The food outstanding, and the hotel staff always went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The hot water bottle at night, and chocolates were a delight! Best of all are the alpacas . . every morning at 8:00 and afternoon at 4:00 warm bottles of milk are available so guests can help feed them! Our group of 10 loved every minute of it, from the massages to the lavish breakfasts and even a winter dip in the outdoor pool. Javier, the general manager went out of his way to ensure that my husband and I and the whole family had a wonderful experience.

Beautiful property with excellent service. Right next to the river. Look out in from your Villa each morning to see the beautiful river and scenery and alpacas roaming the property. You even get to feed milk to the alpaca. Best massages ever too!

I will give 6 stars to this review if it was possible! I really like the Belmond brand and I’ve been in different Belmont resorts around the world but this one in particular took our hearts. Words can’t described the beauty and peace of this gorgeous hotel. As soon as you enter this paradise the smell of flowers, the river and bird sound will capture your attention. Very easy check in and they offer golf cars to take you to your suite. This vast property only have 20 suites and 2 villas and will make you feel is never crowded. The service is top notch super personalized, every employee would Know your name and make you feel like you are at home. The breakfast buffet included is the best in the Sacred Valley, they use fresh and the best quality products from their own farm. Delicious food and drinks at the restaurant. Beautiful Alpacas roaming around the gardens and you can feed them twice a day at 8:00am and 4:00pm. Breathtaking views everywhere and they have a couple of native ladies selling Peruvian crafts and baby alpaca textiles, they are super sweet and they will show you and explain how they make their products. The suites are elegant and very confortable. No tv unless you requested, to be in perfect contact with nature. You will fall sleep and wake up every day with the sound of the river and all kind of beautiful birds. This is definitely the best hotel in Urubamba. Unfortunately, we only stay 2 days but my entire family agreed we will be back!

We stayed here with a group of 10 -- 3 couples in their 50s and 4 young men in their 20s. Perfect for everyone. We were looking for somewhere to acclimate to the altitude before Machu Picchu and Cusco -- we stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute. The staff was so welcoming and even sent tea and soup to the room when I wasn't feeling well. They organized tours for us of Ollantaytambo and the salt mines and we had a pachamancha -- a Peruvian outdoor BBQ in the ground. It was just gorgeous under awnings by the river. Don't miss feeding the baby alpacas on the grounds -- so much fun! six of us had massages that were amazing in the spa - the signature massage. There are burbling streams, waterfalls, and the rushing river everywhere -- it is one of the most peaceful places we have been. THey also arranged all our transportation, picked us up in Cusco (separately as we didn't all travel together), got us to the the train in Ollantaytambo and then picked us up in Ollantaytambo after Machu Picchu and took us (and our luggage which they held) to Cusco. Really didn't have to worry about a thing. Stay here it is totally worth it.
