The Casa is a high point of any trip to the area. You approach the inn via a narrow dirt road just outside of town. When you are admitted through the metal gate, you enter an oasis of exceptional beauty. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, particularly for an eco-lodge. The grounds, and therefore the rooms, are exceptionally quiet and... More

We really enjoyed our stay. Rita, the hostess, really made us feel at home and went out of her way to make sure we are well taken care of. The gardens were very colorful and tranquil and it was close to many of the Inca sites.

This place was so peaceful, quite, beautiful gardens, immaculately clean, and very simple. You could completely relax and disconnect here. Our host was Rita, and she helped us from the moment we arrived until the moment she left - everything from cooking us a delicious full breakfast each morning at a time of our choice (included) with fresh fruit from... Our stay was simply wonderful. Accommodations are truly inviting, the grounds gorgeous, and our host, Rita, second to none. I would most certainly return. In fact we spent two nights in the area and I wish we would've spent a third if only to relax on the grounds. Breakfast and dinner were superb, not to mention that Rita, with her... More

The garden at Casa Calibri is so peaceful and welcoming. The location is perfect for touring the Sacred Valley. If I could plan my trip over again I would add an extra day here just to relax and enjoy the garden. Rita couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Not only was Rita wonderful but so were the other guests.... More

We stayed here during our tour of Peru and were so upset we could only stay one night! Robert and Barbara were wonderful hosts and were only too willing to sit and chat about the area, Peru, and life in general. The lodge itself is stunning and very tranquil. The gardens are beautiful and Barbara has created a hummingbird sanctuary... More

Our small group needed a weekend getaway and had the good fortune of landing at Casa Colibri. From the peaceful environment, inviting cottages, the incredible gardens, fabulous foods and personal attention from Robert, Barbara and Rita we couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you for making our weekend getaway just a bit more special. We will certainly return.

We have recently returned from a month travelling in Peru, where one of the highlights of our travels was our stay at Casa Colibri, in the Sacred Valley. What a gem of a place! It provided an oasis of calm amid the busy-ness of travelling, a sanctuary from the rush of sight-seeing. With care for the environment as fundamental, the... More

We stopped by Casa Colibri on our way to Macchu Pichu and we had the most charming stay! You reach the cottages through an amazing garden where you'll meet hummingbirds and a cute bunny. Barbara, Robert and Rita were very welcoming and sweet, and took some time to chat with us, give us recommendations and help with our travel arrangements.... More

Our family of four had a great time staying here. The casita was perfect, with a loft with twin beds for our two boys, ages 10 and 13. Barbara and Robert were very welcoming and helpful when we needed to make some additional plans and travel arrangements. The bunny in the garden is adorable! It's a lovely place.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Colibri eco-Lodge is centrally located just outside Urubamba, close to all the archeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Trains to Machu Picchu are only 20 minutes away. It's at a much lower altitude, (2900 mtrs) than Cuzco, (3400 mtrs) so it's perfect for your acclimatization. The casitas are sited around a large central garden with native trees, winding paths and scented pergolas. The lodge is our project in sustainable living. For us this means doing our best to conserve resources for future generations, avoiding waste and living in harmony with our environment. We have created a series of thriving organic kitchen and flower gardens hosting wildlife from hummingbirds and parrots to bees and butterflies! Special interest groups are more than welcome... Our yoga groups appreciate the purpose-built meditation room and the tranquility of the gardens, and foodies always leave wishing they'd booked a longer stay :)Above all Casa Colibri aims to be a relaxing and homely base, from which to explore all the wonderful sites around the Sacred Valley. ... more   less
