Apu Lodge is a boutique bed-and-breakfast located in the pedestrian Inca streets of the village of Ollantaytambo and its position on a terrace gives it a fantastic view from all rooms. It has spacious gardens, visited by humming birds, hammocks to relax in after your hike to Machu Picchu or other ruins, and is very peaceful. All rooms have views, private bathrooms with excellent shower and are furnished with simple elegance. Dinner is served in our restaurant. English spoken and excellent advice given on local sites, tours and taxis can be arranged. Please call from the plaza for assistance with luggage as there is no vehicle access.

Rooms average in size, clean but floorboards very creaky. Food at dinner was very good and convenient. Breakfast acceptable quality. Long walk with luggage on cobblestone walkway but they assisted us when we left to go to taxi a few blks away.Overpriced for the quality

We are glad you found our dinner very good and found the Lodge clean, and enjoyed the beautiful garden and view. Thank you for your stay. Our best prices are available by emailing us directly (if you book through an online distributor there is a 15% commission included in the price). We think they are fair given the level of English-speaking service we provide, stunning peaceful location five minutes from the plaza and the restaurant, which just breaks even and as you say is a convenient service for our guests. We pay staff well and retain a good team, and support community projects including a centre for disabled children and older adults, Asociación Yanapasun. We discount our rooms in low season. Breakfasts include local organic greek yogurt, tropical fruit, granolas, eggs cooked to order, coffee and teas, orange juice, bread and local jams. Our friendly team are happy to assist with luggage on the way to and from Apu Lodge as the atmospheric cobbled Inca streets are not designed for suitcase wheels. Just call from the Plaza de Armas or ask your driver or guide to do so.

I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Apu Lodge. It is located about 300 meters from the main square of Ollantaytambo and tucked away in a very quiet location, with a beautiful courtyard. They will help with bags if you request it, which I recommend because it is tough to lug your bags. The views from the second floor rooms are STUNNING with a great view of the Ollantaytambo ruins and the surrounding mountains. Ollantaytambo is a great place to stay because it is only a 1.5 hr train ride to Machu Picchu, so you can hop on a 5 or 6 AM train and easily beat the crowds without having to get up to early. It's a 2 minute tuk-tuk ride from the main square to the train station. Plus the town has amazing ruins itself. The main Sacred Valley tourist attractions are as close to Ollantaytambo as they are to Cusco. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They were great to just shoot the breeze with and provided great restaurant recommendations -- all in very fluent English. Speaking of restaurants, the hotel has a mini-restaurant in the lobby which compared very favorably to other Peruvian restaurants we visited -- great for a delicious meal after a long day at Macchu Pichu. The hotel also put us in touch with our taxi driver Rolando, who was the best driver / tour guide we possibly could have asked for as we went through the Sacred Valley. Don't miss out -- use this as your home base for all your Macchu Pichu and Sacred Valley experiences.

Stayed in Room 23 with a large King bed and our adult children stayed in 21 with 2 beds. People were helpful and friendly and everything was very clean. Short walk to Plaza but a long walk with bags. Apu will help with bags and excursions.

Thanks for your great review and your stay. We are glad you found everyone helpful and everything clean. Our location in a quiet corner of the Inca town on a pedestrian street is secluded and a five-minute walk from the plaza. Like you say we are delighted to help with your luggage. Guests need only call from the Plaza de Armas, or get their driver to do so. For the information of other guests, we have family rooms for people with younger children. Happy travels!

Really enjoyed my 3 night stay at Apu Lodge. It's about a 350 m walk to the main square along a beautiful little cobblestoned lane. This part of town is so atmospheric it was an absolute joy walking to a from the main square. The gardens were very pleasant and lounging about in the hammocks was wonderful. Lots of restaurants around plus several archaeological sites and the granaries. Stay at least 2 nights if not more - you won't regret it.

Ollayantaytambo is a great town to stay in for a visit to Macchu Pichu as there are tons of restaurants and two sets of Incan ruins to visit in the town. The town is actually worth a 1/2 day to a day in and of itself. Apu Lodge coordinated everything regarding our stay and visit to Macchu Pichu except the train and Macchu Pichu entrance tickets. They picked us up at the airport, brought us to Cusco, took us back to Cusco and arranged tours in the Sacred Valley for us. The staff were immensely helpful before and during our stay, the hotel is very picturesque and quaint and on a beautiful property. Breakfast was provided with eggs made to order. The rooms were simple, exactly what we needed and at a very reasonable price. Cannot recommend highly enough if looking for a convenient place to stay to visit Macchu Picu.

Thanks so much for your review and strong recommendation for Apu Lodge and our beautiful location. We were delighted to organize your taxis to and from Cusco and day-trips to other places, and glad you found our staff helpful. For the information of other travellers, the train and Machu Picchu entrance tickets can be purchased online from Perurail or Incarail and the government website, machupicchu.gob.pe Our breakfast includes fruit salad, granola, local organic yogurt, orange juice, bread, jam coffee and as you say, eggs cooked to order, so that we can serve them fresh. Happy travels, thanks again for your stay.
