I must admit i am surprised by the previous reviews most of which are very positive. This is a 4 star hotel charging seven star prices. We paid $1496 per night and I honestly wished I had booked a hotel down in the village such as the inkaterra Manchu piccu and got up early. What a waste of money. To compound matters, which they did rectify after challenging, an extra $300 on the bill. We have stayed at a number of Belmond properties including the one beside Iguasu Falls which is fabulous and not over priced but we will not be booking with them again. People can read this and say here is someone just having a moan but this is a complete rip off and I don’t want people wasting their hard earned money on a special event and being disappointed. PROs - right at entrance of The Citadel so no waiting for buses and a longer lie in - gardens, whilst small are very nice - the local staff are very attentive and the service reflects that - you can comeback and shower and change after your hike up the mountain CONs - room cost which is inclusive is $1500 per night more than the Ritz in Paris or the Plaza Hotel in New York. - the rooms and bathroom are really small. So my advice is check m2 when you book hotel rooms. Two people can’t get in the bathroom together. I understand that they are restricted in the overall area of the property. So have bigger rooms to under pin the price. - It really wasn’t luxurious and lacked any areas to relax in apart from the terrace. Very small reception and one of the restaurants was open to tourists and a kiosk selling ice cream. Not really a high class hotel. - some wines were not available and the ones they did have were low quality. This hotel should be charging about half of what it is. Pretty shameful on Belmond and they don’t realise the damage to their reputation it is causing. I will not be booking with them again and wish I had gave $1000 to the local school instead. You make your own choice but think of the options you have available and don’t just splash the cash expecting that to bring you happiness.…
Booked this place for R&R and pampering after the 4-day Inca Trail. Wanted to walk out of the front gate at Machu Picchu and have lunch, a Pisco Sour, a shower and a massage. I would say the rooms aren't huge, but everything is clean and good. Staff very helpful especially Luis on the desk and Roy in the restaurant. Food and wine very good. We enjoyed our short one night stay.
Thanks to all the team ,this experience was amaizing, all way long especialy thanks to the Maitre Carlos Caballero Made aur trip a really dream come true. I invite and recomend the Belmond service . It's a great place to stay and enjoy. Efrain Vidalon ( Tour Director)
The only hotel at the gates of Machu Picchu and a great place to stay, we stayed 1 night which allowed us to stay late the first day and go early the second. They upgraded us to a room which a terrace overlooking the garden which was a nice thing for them to do. There are no restaurants at the top so full board is the only option, but the food is very good indeed and they do a great Isco sour! A staff member met us at the rail station to help us, the bus station is through the market and across the river, look for the Consettur signs. Some reviews complained about the size of the rooms, but it’s on top of a mountain with limited space, no no complaints from us!
Our experiencia was the Best, speacially at Tampu Restaurant with they personalized atention of the Maitre the master Carlos Caballero, they Best, he spoiled us with the beatifill fotos of the sanctuary lodge!!!! Richard Pérez Tour Manager

The best maitre in Machupicchu!! Carlos Caballero He sorpraised us today in the morning for breakfast with an amazing te demostration He made a special tea for us!!! with Lime juice, pisco, lemon grass and secret ingredients that made the best tea I ever tried
Sanctuary hotel. Excellent location—Walk out the front door and your at the gate to Machu Pichu. Greeted on entry and quickly checked in from lounge area. Usual Belmond professional staff throughout the property. Beautiful grounds. I stayed in a terrace room. It was a smallish room and tiny bath. My king bed was actually two twins pushed together under a king headboard ( large gap between the two twins). See photo. Good Wi-Fi. Tea time prior to Hiram Bingham train is fun and tasty but nothing over the top.
I celebrated my wedding there without having a site tour, and I can tell everything went fantastic! The team helped me to put everything together and executed better than I could imagine. My husband, family, friends and I are very grateful to Mayra Fernandez, Augusto Rodriguez, Carlos Caballero, Marilia Narro, Michael Leitao, the Chef, Eva Yupanqui, Front Desk, Miguel (from restaurant), servers, housekeepers and all the outstanding team of this beautiful hotel. Because of them, we had a dream and magical wedding on Machu Picchu with the magnificent view of the Huayna Picchu mountain. Thank you all! We hope to be back soon.
