    Wonderful experience
We stayed here for one night. It’s not cheap and there’s no doubt you’re paying a premium for the location, enabling you to easily visit Machu Picchu for two days - but the hotel backs this up by offering a wonderful experience. Our room was clean, comfortable and with a nice terrace. The staff are extremely attentive, and seem genuinely invested in making your stay special. And the food is outstanding; great quality and generous portions. Combined with the service, this feels like a fine dining experience. Vegetarian options were available and tasty. If you plan on eating at the hotel during your stay, it’s worth booking the all inclusive option - it’ll most likely be the most cost-effective option.
Dear Maxxash, Thank you for the time that you took to share with us your incredible experience at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. I’m glad to read that you’ve enjoyed being with us, our location, the top-notch food, the amazing terrace surrounded by nature with hummingbirds flying everywhere and specially the service that out staff provided to you. Thank you again for your feedback and It will be a pleasure to welcome you soon again at the fantastic world of Belmond. Warm regards, Marc Yeterian

    Highly recommend!!
We stayed here for 1 night during our visit to Machu Picchu. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Machu Picchu. It is the only hotel which is at the top which makes it very convenient. It's a small hotel but very luxurious and staff is great. They have a beautiful terrace garden overlooking Machu Picchu where u can relax. I found the rooms a bit small though and bathroom was a bit inconvenient. The hotel is right at the bus stop which goes back and forth from the town. The check out time of the hotel is 11am but since we completed our hike at 1 PM , the hotel has shower and changing facilities which we could use. The hotel even takes your luggage down below to the train station to avoid any hassle for you. I also recommend taking the Belmond Hiram Bingham train on your way to Machu Picchu which is a great experience.
Dear karangoenka, I really appreciate the time that you took to share such detailed experience in Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. Reviews like yours will help our future guests a lot and thank you for it. I ‘m really glad to read that you enjoyed every moment that you’ve spent with us and that it was a highlight in your Trip. Be sure that you will always be welcome to the wonder world of Belmond. Sincerely Marc Yeterian General Manager

Splurging for the Sanctuary Lodge was well worth it
We traveled in Peru for two weeks and all our hotels were nice. But this was the best experience. Our splurging for the Sanctuary Lodge Machu Picchu was well worth it!! We recommend it. This is the only hotel located at the entrance to Machu Picchu — gave us an option to stay in MP until the closing when everyone else was going for the buses. It provided a more private experience — definitely more enjoyable without the crowds. Our reservation included full board — not only all food, but also ALL drinks. The restaurant is excellent. I particularly enjoyed their huacatay sauce. The chef wrote down the recipe for me and made sure I got it the next day. They used lots of edible flowers on dishes — this made every dish into an art form. One new flower we ate — flower de borraja, a little blue pretty flower that has a sweet taste. Loved their little orchids garden.
Dear Lovedogzz, I appreciate the time that you spent leaving your comments about Belmond Sanctuary Lodge in the TripAdvisor community. I love to read this kind of reviews, where all the benefits and effort that we always put into each visit by our guests are highlight. As you mentioned, we are located just some steps near the entrance of Machu Picchu and if you get to the entrance very early in the morning you may be one of the first people to go in there or to leave it , enjoying the peace that this amazing place provides us. Thank you for your preference and be sure that we will always be waiting for you, so we can welcome you again to the wonder world of Belmond. Sincerely, Marc Yeterian General Manager

I have been here before and the quality of service remains beyond my expectations. Additionally, the close proximity to the Machu Picchu entrance made the experience even more easy and pleasant. The grounds are very well maintained and enjoyable to walk around.

Wow !! What a way to end walking the 4 day 3 night Inca trail ! We arrived late morning to be welcomed by a little piece of heaven after the exertion of trekking . The hotel is exceptional with so much thought being put into the details of making this a really special place . The lunch was superb ! Followed by the most fantastic evening meal with lovely drinks to complete a superb evening . The gardens are gorgeous and we enjoyed watching a pistol sour demo with yummy canapés before dinner. The staff are all so friendly and professional but particular mention to Crucita and Orlando who made our stay so very special. We were there celebrating my 60th birthday and it was totally perfect ! Thank you so much

Amazing experience, perfect in each detail. John is the concierge and did his best to fullfill our stay there. Actually the whole team is outstanding! The cost seems to be high however it is a real full board with everything included...highly recommended!

If we had not experienced the other Belmond hotels in Peru, we may have been more impressed, but this one is not in the same league as the rest. Rooms are very small and the bathrooms are especially tiny. The dinner was good but the restaurant is like a school dining hall. Breakfast at the other Belmonds is served to you, here is a buffet and service combination. My biggest disappointment was that they knew it was my husbands 60th birthday and kept mentioning they would do something and they did nothing. Just a rendition of happy birthday was all that was required, but nothing at all.

The location is great!!! The check-in process is very bad. Food and drinks are average. I expected more for what we paid. I did not receive all the information about my activities and the hotel. The service in the restaurant was very good.

One of the most spectacular places to stay in Machu Picchu. Stones throw to the gate but worlds away from the masses. The staff are so kind and attentive, the rooms are immaculate and no detail is missed, including a pillow service. The food is amazing and selections meet any palate. Special thank you to Nelson, Wilson and Victor who went above and beyond to make our stay one of the most memorable vacation of our lives.

Best hotel in Machu Pichu as it is positioned right across the main entrance of the site. Beautiful room with a terrace and good amenities provided (including mosquito repellent). Food is very good at the restaurant with a choice of different local dishes. Best breakfast in the garden with a Machu Pichu view (this is an extra).
