We flew with Iberia who mislaid our luggage so we arrived late and frazzled. Luis at the hotel could not have been more helpful - the taxi he had already arranged waited for ages at the airport as Iberia failed to find our luggage and when we got to the hotel late we immediately felt at home. The place is quirky and has some fascinating artwork all round as the original owner was the famous Peruvian artist and sculptor Victor Delfin. We loved it and there are plenty of places to eat nearby as well as a walkable beach (with a lot of steps however). Thank you Luis for turning a nightmare with Iberia airlines into a super stay - our luggage turned up at 3. a.m. on our second night by the way.
I only stayed for one night at the end of a tour of Peru and wished I could have spent longer in this fabulous little B&B. It feels more like a boutique hotel that could cost twice the price, with amazing sea views, a wonderful collection of art and beautifully designed common spaces. I stayed in the Ocean View Room, which was almost as big as my entire flat in London, and slept like a baby in the incredibly comfortable bed after a soak in the enormous bathtub. August nights in Lima can be cool and damp but I was very cosy thanks to the electric heater and luxurious bedding! The location is unbeatable, moments away from the Bridge of Sighs and Bajada de Baños, with fabulous restaurants, coffee shops and bars a block away (I highly recommend dinner at Awicha!), but tucked away down a little side street in what feels like an incredibly peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of Lima. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe and secure at Second Home. Lilian and Luis were very welcoming and helpful in arranging airport transfers and letting me leave my luggage while I was out all day on a tour during my final day in Lima. I would happily stay at Second Home Peru again - it's a unique hidden gem and the perfect base for exploring the wonderful bohemian, stylish Barranco area.…
The rooms need air conditioning, refrigerator, coffee/tea pot. The pool was ice cold and no pool chairs to sit on. The breakfast was very plain basic scrambled or fried egg, bread, and odd piece of fruit. The view is wonderful and was a good location. The room did have lots of ants and one roach that we found.
Staying at Second Home in Barranco was the highlight of our visit to Lima, Peru. The house has art in every corner and the views are breathtaking. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, they really make you feel at home. If you are an art lover then this is definitely the place to stay.
Second Home Peru was a wonderful and pleasant surprise to end our holiday in Peru. The location above the Pacific in the relaxed, bohemian neighborhood of Barranco was ideal. Our room was spacious and filled with the art of Victor Delfin, original owner of the house and hotel, and had a nice balcony over looking the beach below. The staff was open and friendly as well as knowledgable about the art and culture of Lima. Barranco is the neighborhood to stay in when in Lima and Second Home Peru was a great choice for us.
We spent one night here to end our 16 day Peru trip. Staff are friendly and helpful but there an awful lot of family members it seems living in this hotel so seems a bit busy at times! The art is lovely and that includes the outdoor pieces as well. Views are good but not as accessible as you might think, the beach isn't that easy to get to and we were advised not to go too far along the southerly direction as its not safe beyond the 'fish market'. This put me off going to the beach at all! Rooms are full of character and full of old pieces. Some lo ely restaurants close by. breakfast a bit disappointing, no choice and not filling enough. Other B&B's we stayed in Peru offered twice as much for the same money.
Second Home Peru is a wonderful place to stay! The hotel is in the best location, in the fun neighborhood of Barranco and close to excellent restaurants and street art. It's also right on the coast, so the views are unbelievable. The hotel is the home of artist Victor Delfin and features much of his artwork. You can even meet the artist in his studio. It was fun to wander through the hotel and look at it all, and one of the staff members told me that it's possible to book a tour of the art through the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable with all the amenities you need. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice, and the breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend staying at the hotel. The hotel offered taxi service from the airport, laundry, free wifi, cable tv (Netflix), free breakfast, and free luggage storage. There is a pool on the property as well.…
This is more like staying in a museum than in a hotel. Really fabulous artwork, and very scenic grounds. The view of the ocean was one of the best I’ve experienced in all my travels of the world. Beds were comfortable. Slept like a baby. Nice soothing jazz playing in the downstairs lounge. And Luis was awesome in giving us recommendations of what to do in Lima.
We ended our weeklong trip in Peru here at Second Home. Our stay was fabulous and easy, from setting up private airport pickup to helping us select a bottle of wine for the room, the staff were attentive and made us feel like family. This was by far the most beautiful place we have stayed, with a gorgeous water front view, a private porch and a large, spacious room. I would 100% recommend this place, its the perfect addition to your trip.
100% recommendation for the utterly exquisite and charming Second home Peru. I have stayed in many beautiful places in my time and Second home is up there with my favourites. I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a 2 week trip to magical Peru. Second home is absolutely beautiful, tranquil, classy, stylish, wonderful rooms and grounds and very friendly, helpful staff. The photos do not fully do it justice, you must stay to see and feel the comfortable environment and feel the wonderful energy of this place. I stayed in the suite with an ocean view, which was gorgeous, light, airy, spacious, spotlessly clean and relaxing. The house itself is stunning, stylish and classy, with artwork everywhere by Mr Victor Delfin who I had the pleasure of meeting. I also had a tour of his gallery with his daughter Lillian. Mr Delfin is still working and the pieces of art are outstanding . Barranco is also a fabulous place to be, safe, friendly and ecletic. A very big thank you to all of the staff and to Carlos (Mr Delfin’s son) for his time and patience in sorting out my room when I had problems with my debit card and for his recommendations for places to visit and eat; and to Lillian for showing me the gallery. And to Luis who was an amazing host and the lovely lady who kindly cleaned the room and the young man who helped me with my bags. I have absolutely loved my stay here and I am very grateful to have had this extremely fabulous experience in Second home. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️…
