Organised budget tour companies use this hotel as a starting base for their Peru tours, which gives some indication of the standard of the hostel. We stayed here for 4 nights; 2 of which were part of an organised tour. The twin room had a single and a double bed. The room for two nights was USD99, including breakfast, which was reasonable value. The room, on the ground floor, was OK for size. The bathroom was small but modern and very clean. The Hostal has a large common room and a breakfast room. It's with easy walking distance to the centre of Lima with plenty of small restaurants close by. The Australian Embassy is across the street as is the Hilton Hotel. The Airport Express bus stops outside the Hilton, so if you arrive late at night the Hostal is close by. The staff were helpful and booked a couple of taxis for us at reasonable rates.

I travel a lot and I have to say this was a terrible experience. We stayed in room 208 and it smelled of mold and cat urine. The one bed was rock hard and the other two were poor and old. When we arrived at 3 our room was not ready. The breakfast consisted of coffee, 2 buns, and jam. We did not know that asking for eggs would trigger a $7 USD additional charge for the two of us. We refused to pay this as it was not explained. The gentleman at the front desk was polite but not helpful when asked about what we should see in Lima. The location across from the Hilton is what you are paying for but I think you can definitely find better in Miraflores. Ask to see the room before you commit.

If you expect high-end amenities go across the street to the Hilton, but for an inexpensive, simple and homey hotel, stay here. Big rooms, easy access to the city and shopping areas and great staff. We stayed 10 days and enjoyed every minute. The water was always hot, the sheets and rooms clean, the beds comfortable and no city noise.

I stayed at this charming hostal on arrival in Perú and again prior to departure. I chose it because of its location in a neighborhood I know well. Opposite the Hilton, the location simply cannot be improved upon: a quiet, safe, section with fine restaurants nearby, still dotted with old colonial homes and the scent of jasmine arising at night. The staff is composed of helpful and friendly folks always ready to try and help you solve a problem, including airport taxiing (paid apart to recommended drivers at the going rate). There is a pleasant lounge with computers and wifi available, a cozy breakfast (continental included, eggs and such additional) restaurant and a very nice outdoor sitting area. Biggest drawback is no air conditioning. The facility could do with some renovation, but apparently is scheduled for sale to a company that will build a larger, multi-story hotel on the property, so... If the sale comes to pass, travelers will lose one of the more cozy and convenient hotels in all Lima, Miraflores included. In closing, the advantages far outweigh the drawbacks for this heartily recommended hotel.

The location is fantastic with lots of restaurants, shops, and the ocean nearby. The staff was very nice and were kind enough to let us check in early. Unfortunately, the rooms on the ground floor smelled of animal urine. If you decide to stay here, request a room on the second floor facing Ave La Paz. It seems the smell is wafting in from the side street.
