THE PROPERTY The perfect combination of a large, comfortable, old countryside-style house, in a highly convenient location. Only 300 meters away from one of Lima's main avenues, Avenida Javier Prado, and only a couple of blocks away from Jockey Plaza Mall, Peru's largest shopping center and only 15 minutes away from San Isidro and Miraflores - tourist heart of Lima. Supermarkets, banks, cinemas, restaurants, and a few bars are all walking distance. Yet our place is extremely quiet and peaceful! (As one of our guests described it: "A beautiful oasis in the middle of a metropolitan area. "Our property is surrounded by a beautiful garden (1 acre land), a swimming pool with two hammocks right next to it, and a BBQ area. A lovely Living room, WI Fi access throughout the entire house, Parking space, Laundry Area, Swimming Pool, and awesome garden views to enjoy!! THE ROOMS...All of our rooms includes a private bathroom. It has one queen size bed. An extra bed could be added in some rooms in case it's needed. All our rooms include WI FI, cable TV, an awesome breakfast, fresh linens, blankets, pillows, and towels would be provided as well. HOW TO MOVE AROUND you can catch a taxi cab in less than 5 minutes over the internet or call by phone to come and pick you up from home. You can also contact our taxi partner, he would take very well care of you, and you can also hire him by the hour: He can take you around Lima Centro, for instance. THE HOSTS...Very friendly and open minded people! Well-traveled, respectful, and laid back... Who appreciate respect and consideration from others, and specially a good vibe! :) THE GUESTS...As long as you are an honest, good vibes, clean, and a respectful person... We are all good! :)

During the border closing in March I made a last-minute reservation but was unable to get to the hotel. The staff at Posada Monterrico understood the situation and issued a full refund, despite their policy. Very professional.

Before heading to Lima, Peru where I was to visit an exposition I did some research on where to stay. Now and then it is nice to find a place different to the larger hotels. I found Posada Monterrico which is located near the exhibitionn Centre of Jockey in Area of Surco. I got a taxi from the airport whick cost 60 Soles. The Posada provides a $22 transfer service by sending an e-mail to reservas@posadamonterrico.com. I can recommend the latter as the driver will know exactly where to go. Lima is a huge City and even local taxi drivers can get lost... The Posada is not sign posted as it seems to be a large Villa. After a couple of phione calls we managed to get there. Th eplace is comfortable and friendly. I was greeted at the gate by someone who showed me where to find my room. For Breakfast I was offered a choice of cooked eggs, fresh orange juice, coffee, toasts (self service), jam cheese and ham. Just what I needed :-) The setting is great. The location might seem scruffy for some but appears to be safe. The hotel is typically a spacious Bungalow (Bed and Breakfast) tastefullly decorated in Peruvian style (I guess), the room sported a double bed and a large bathroom. The breakfast room overlooked a (Jungle) garden with a nice swimming pool which made me wish having better time to make good use of.

*About the place*: It's nice, you really do feel at home, it's quiet, it has a piano which they let you play, etc. It has a pool, but it wasn't very clean or warm... the garden wasn't that well taken care of, but it was pretty big. Some of the doors towards to the garden were very hard to open. The room we got was nice, spacious enough as well as the bathroom (the hot water took a while to come out, but we eventually were able to shower with hot water). There was another bathroom in front of our room, like a guest bathroom which was useful if you needed to was your hands, use the toilet, etc.), the bed was really comfortable too, and our room had a mini fridge and a heater also. The only down side was that we saw 2 typical garden spiders in it, one in the pillow and a bigger one near the entrance of the room. *About the food*: The breakfast is definitely homemade. They had fresh pineapple juice, some milk, coffee, tea, etc. Bread which you could toast and put butter and jelly on it. They gave us the option of scrambled or fried eggs. They also had some ham and cheese on the table. The lady that served the breakfast was nice enough. *About the service*: We booked it through Expedia which mentioned we couldn't check in after a certain time, but we had no problem with that (we arrived at about 1am and there was someone waiting for us), what we did have a problem with was the payment... it wasn't possible to pay for the stay via Expedia, it had to be paid in person while onsite and they either take cash or they charge extra for using a credit card (they had a credit card terminal there but, for some reason, they said it was only for people from Peru, not foreigners, so it had to be done through PayPal and even though we had a PayPal account to transfer money and avoid using the credit card, they wouldn't eliminate the extra fees). They say that everything is written down on the description, but this information is scattered and badly organized. For example, they have an "optional extras" section and only in there it describes that credit card charges are subject to a surcharge. This is not an "optional extra" but a mandatory requirement. It is not fair that they advertise a price on Expedia, which is used to compare with other hotels, but then they have hidden fees which you have no way of avoiding and you only find out when you are physically present at the place with no other choice.

We had a wonderful time at Posada Monterrico. The owners are very inviting and loving people. We were given beautiful clean rooms with shampoos and soaps in our bathroom along with clean towels. The grounds were beautiful, filled with a plush garden and Peruvian birds chirping, a beautiful dog and cat and parrot. The food was delicious, we had fresh juice and coffee along with a hot bespoke breakfast made to our liking. We also felt very safe on the grounds with a 24 hour guard on duty. This was the perfect vacation and we can’t want to come back and see the Carranza family.

I am in Lima for weeks every year and this is where I stay. The hotel is very much like a home, it sets in a lovely garden, and the rooms are very quiet. For those familar with Lima, you know how important and how rare quiet rooms are. The owners/staff are very helpful. And who doesn’t like being greeted every morning when you step outside by a peacock with its feathers fully spread?!
