1st night in Peru & lima, The private room we had was spacious and comfortable but the street noise was loud and showers pretty average. Reception was fast and helpful & location was great. Lots of noise in the hostel after midnight..
I guess that's backpacker life though..
Cheers

Great location, area has everything you need. Our room was a private, No16, the floor was disgusting, mold in the corners, took my white socks off they where black! No hot water, and one of the towels smelled like wet dog. The staff where ok, would of been nice to show us around the hostel! For breakfast you have to walk about 5 mins to this ice cream restaurant, was pretty bad eat. Next door to the hostel is the BEST sandwich place I have ever been to! Wifi only works in the common area, and not really that great. I feel this hostel just needs to lift its game alittle and it would be awesome!

This hostel is clean and quiet and right next to Parque de Kennedy. Great internet and nice staff. However, I would have liked a more welcoming decor. The red faux leather furniture in the common areas makes the place feel like a cheap cafe.

Checked in at midnight and went for some late night snacks, when we came back we got locked out for 1:30 hours. We kept making a lot of noise to wake him up in the end another visitor woke up and she found the guy sleeping in one of the dorms... Very Disappointing!!

I stayed at the Flying Dog for 8 entire months while I volunteered in Lima. It is a wonderful, unique, safe, clean place. The hosts are all wonderful and speak fluent English. They will go out of their way to make sure you have a good time in Lima. Ask them anything, they will know the answer or help you find it. The rate $7/per bunk or $20/private room includes a free breakfast including eggs, toast coffee, and juice. Sue, Michigan, USA

We had 3 nights of the Flying Dog Experience, in two diferent branches at both sides of Plaza Kennedy.

The sheets were dirty with suspicious stains and one of the rooms was very noise. Although it is well located and there were some nice staff, one of the boys didn't really care that we couldn´t open the bathroom door...when we had paid for a double with private bath and all our stuff was inside!! Even more, it was the most expensive one of our trip to Peru (90 soles for a dirty sheets double, bad mattress room).

Avoid this one and look for something better, Miraflores is crammed with hostels for backpackers.

We spent one night in this rathole, slept really badly and what did I find from the bed in the morning? A HUGE bedbug. I killed it and went to show it to the reseption to inform that sadly they have an infestation. The person behind the desk told us that they know abou the bugs, and that they are normal in the summer!! We didnt even get a discount for the room! One of the worst experiences in my four month travel. I DO NOT recommend this or any other flying dog to anybody. yuck.

this hostal actually has 4 locations all 1-2 blocks apart around parque kennedy. i stayed in one of the smaller ones - a green building (hostal is on the 2nd story) near pizza street on parque kennedy. you can either go to the main one (address: Diez Canseco 117) and see where they have room or check right in to one of the other smaller ones

cute backpackers place - small, 1 computer with free internet, breakfast included (they give you a meal ticket for a nearby restaurant but it doesn't open until 8am - be warned if you're off to an early start), TV room with cable but no TVs in the rooms, clean simple rooms, they give you towels and sheets, reliable hot water, clean spacious bathrooms, shared bathrooms for the dorms ($10/night) and private bathrooms in the double room ($30/night)

The privated room(with bathroom) that my husband and I stayed was dirty and smelled kerosene. We had huge problem with hot shower. We couldn't take a shower on the room. In addition, it is so cold because there is a quite huge hole/oppening between the door that a cold wind and noisy get inside the room. Besides that, the staffs are good. On my first day in Peru I forgot my cellphone in the taxi and the reception girl help me so much to get it back. I am so grateful (Unfortunately I did not ask her name). The other guy who works at midnight was also lovely.
Fortunately I stayed just 2 night and I really do not want back in this hostel again.

After a long trip we longed for a shower and a nap. Our room was like a broom closet, with two beds cramped in. People were partying in the room next to ours.

There was no water the first 4 hours, not even to flush the toilet!!!

When there was finally water, we discovered the shower only had one switch. The cold water switch was on the ceiling. Me being 1.70 couldn't reach. Also the water pressure was very bad.

Never coming back.
