Came with no preperation. It was a spiritual extreme experience, one of a kind that I'll be happy to experience again. Recommended for true seeker, since it is not just fun, not easy but also not heavy. It is one of the best gifts I gave myself, and in retrospective of a a month, I am the same just better and happier. May all being be happy, and thank you for all the love. Love! Amihai

I went to Amaru Spirit last September, now I am able to put some thoughts together about my experience there. I got some benefits from the ceremonies but I believe I could do better in another set up. I found the culture at Amaru Spirit lacking in love. I'd say that the care they took of me was "fair" but when you do ayahuasca you need "beyond excellent". Food was scarce, I couldn't eat certain foods, my stomach took a toll while on the tobacco diet and it was hard for the kitchen staff to come up with alternatives. Fruits and vegetables were scarce. There were a couple of days I ate next to nothing. I felt there was preferencial treatment of the guests. The room I had was comfortable and clean and the two maids that came around everyday to clean were very nice.

Response from amaruspirit, Front Office Manager at Amaru Spirit

Hi Ondina D We would like to know who you are please? Having looked through the guests who were here September 2018, we are having trouble checking that you were a guest with us. If you would like to email us at bookatamaru@gmail.com we can respond with more detail. It does not make sense to us when you say that fruits and vegetables were scarce. A high majority of what we serve is fruits and vegetables, including lots of superfoods, Fruits are served for breakfast, lunch includes 4 different salads, and usually 2 additional cooked vegetable dishes along side the main dishes, and dinner is usually a vegetable soup with additional variety of salads. And there is always plenty of food served.

I just got back from my third visit to Amaru Spirit, and this place keeps getting better. To use a car metaphor - tai chi is my daily fuel, talking with my therapist is like an as-needed oil change, and visiting Amaru is like the 120,000 mile major service. I am super grateful for all three. My first visit to Amaru was 5 years ago, and was basically emergency triage for severe PTSD. I came back (according to my girlfriend) much lighter and way more functional. This past visit was to help set my goals for the next 5 years, to get clarification on my values, fears, etc. It is amazing how much you can get out of 10 days in Amaru with the plant medicine and the staff, as compared to years of cognitive therapy (and much more economical). Plus there is no upselling and zero weird cult-like behavior here. Finding a good place to do plant medicine can be tricky, because there are a lot of options out there. Especially in Iquitos. Like a Chinese restaurant, not all are equal - in fact, most are kinda greasy and gross, and only a few really care about serving quality food. This place really cares. I would not write this review unless I was 100% certain of their talent and integrity. This place is both magical and incredibly practical and results-oriented. Andy PS - I did the Liver / Gall Bladder flush this time and was shocking weird green balls that came out of my liver. Highly recommended.

This place is for serious seekers that are ready to do their inner work and come into alignment with what they are, being love, we are all love. Slocum is a highly experienced soul with the utmost integrity that will guide you on your inner journey. Some of the first treatments are recommended for most people as it clears energy blocks and helps you see yourself more clearly, such as tobacco diet, cleansing of the kidney, liver, gallbladder. This can be intense and requires true dedication to transformation. Try to go for at least 2 weeks. And again about 4-6 months later. There is only so much one trip can do and you will need time back in your familiar settings to see what unfold and how you cope. With your new insights and deeper commitment, your second trip will be even more beautiful. 100% accountability for your own transformation and trusting your inner guru will be the key to the most beautiful unfolding.

Amaru Spirit is truly a healing space. Close enough to the airport, which makes it easier to relax after a long day of travel and catch your return flight home, yet far enough away to take travelers out of civilization. The food, I will miss the tasty preparations the staff would prepare for us. So many flavors, I even asked for a few recipes to bring home with me. I spent 10 days there this past January seeking to delve into the medicine. I had a few concerns as it was my first Ayahusca experience. These reviews helped alleviate them. The shaman remains in the ceremony the whole experience, even drinking some ayahuasca to connect with the journeyers. He also had an apprentice to assist him and all those in the ceremony. They even had an additional layer of somebody that was sober the entire time. That really made me feel comfortable throughout the whole experience. The shaman, medicine, and retreat are legit. They even have the option for a Coca leave ceremony. I experienced so much during the coca ceremony. Nicky is truly a master and you do not want to miss out on what he offers. The grounds are the perfect place to reconnect with ones inner self. When your not in ceremony everyone respects each others privacy. So you can hang in the Big House communal hut, walk the grounds, or remain in your hut doing that inner work. It was so peaceful and quiet. I found the solitude to be equally healing. I got so much out of this journey that I would definitely return at some point when called to continue the work. You will not be disappointed for choosing Amaru.
