My family and I have been staying at this hotel for the past 20 years, whenever we come through Iquitos which is almost every year. This is the only hotel we stay at when we’re in Iquitos. They’re reliable, honest, and the hotel is lovely. The new renovations have made it an even nicer place to stay. They have great breakfast and clean rooms. The staff are always very warm, welcoming, and super helpful.

I stayed here one night in mid September as part of a tour group, before we headed into the rainforest. The hotel was clean and looked new (though I know it's not), the staff was friendly, the AC worked great which was important because it was very hot and humid, the shower had hot water and good pressure, the bed was comfy, the room was quiet, and the restaurant was good. The area around the hotel was pretty deserted and the roads were barricaded, which seemed permanent. Not sure what was up with that, but I didn't venture out anyway. No complaints, would stay here again.

Back in 1999, we came to Iquitos to a different hotel. We saw evidence of trafficking minors and walked out. We inquired from a trustworthy and knowledgeable local for a hotel with run by people with a conscience and higher standards. She said, "There's only one place that I know that is owned by a family: Victoria Regia. We found that the employees worked there happily for 20-30 years. The owners treated very poor people with honor. The hotel is an absolute oasis of peace, beauty, and cleanliness. The food is wonderful. Now we've been coming for 20 years and we've referred dozens and dozens of guests.

Five stars as it is as advertised and met my expectations. Two stays – one night before my 4D/3N Amazon rainforest trip and one night immediately after it. I was originally booked at Hilton DoubleTree for the first stay, but then I learned that Victoria Regia was associated with the Amazon lodge that I was using, so it made sense to book the early stay as everything would be coordinated; in addition Victoria Regia was ½ the price. I had previously booked the 2nd stay via an OTA because I had a free night that had to be utilized before 30 May. Victoria Regia also stored my bags while I was at the Amazon lodge. Victoria Regia is about 30 minutes from the airport (with traffic). It is within walking distance of the main square. Room was a bit small, but adequate give the short stay. One may want to request room in the front as the rooms in the back do not have a window to the exterior; just to the interior courtyard. There is also a small restaurant in the hotel and the outdoor pool seems quite popular. My room included breakfast. I only tried breakfast one time as I had an early flight for my second stay. The breakfast was very basic. Buffet of a few cold items and a hot item, which was brown rice, pieces of egg, chicken (or maybe pork), and green onions. It was fairly flavorful. Juice seemed to be fresh. Two issues. There are several wifi routers to chose from, each having a strong signal in the restaurant. During both stays, I had to constantly change between routers as suddenly (very basic) e-mails would stop loading. This was quite frustrating. I did report this to the front desk at checkout, so I am not typing a note about something I didn’t make the property aware of; apparently the routers need a periodic reset. The other issue is a bit of a pet peeve. It was obvious that many Spanish-speaking guests were present as well as some English-speaking guests. Yet, there are no English-speaking TV news channels. Specifically, I don’t understand why there is France 24, RT, and CCTV, but no CNN International. With regards to Iquitos itself, it is a gritty city. Peru was country #57 for me. Not sure I’d utilize more time to tour Iquitos. The advertised museums were generally closed. And a reliable person told me that while the Belen market was highly recommended to walkthrough, he also suggested that I find a local to hang with me (not necessarily as a guide, but someone to watch my back.) All in all, if I ever return to Iquitos, I’d certainly consider this property again.

I spent 1 night at the Victoria Regia before heading into a lodge in the Momon river. We arrived early afternoon and the check-in process went well. We were given a room on the 4th floor facing the street. Even though the street could be busy and even loud, once you turn on the room A/C most noise will be gone. The room was very nice, modern and spacious. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also modern and spacious with good water pressure. The TV had lots of channels available but the signal was a bit blurry. WIFI was available at the room but the signal was a bit weak. WIFI was stronger at the reception/lobby area. I really liked the location. Only a couple of blocks from the plaza de armas. There is also a small convenient store close by to by water or other stuff you might need. The breakfast had good options to satisfy most people. We came to the Victoria Regia due to a recommendation from a friend and we were happy with our stay.

I loved my stay there. The staff is friendly and helpful. The inner courtyard is bright and the pool creates an oasis of calm in the very busy city. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy. What more could one ask?!

We stay here quite often. The people are very kind and helpful. They keep it very clean. The restaurant has excellent food and staff. They provide easy transportation to and from the airport. The only slight downfall is the noise, but that’s Iquitos.

We were booked on a trip for three nights in the Amazon but our flight got delayed. We had to stay in this hotel until we got to the Amazon. I was pretty disappointed we didn’t make it to the Amazon but this hotel was definitely nothing special. It’s adequate for a place to lay your head and in walking distance of some of the areas but I prefer a little bit of fancy hotels especially when I’m out of the country. The food was not that great, and we had a limited menu I guess since we were on some kind of package from the travel agency. If I had my choice I like a little nicer hotel. If budget is what you’re looking for this hotel is adequate for your basic necessities. Service was ok but this place is more like a motel if we’re comparing hotels in the US.
