Given the fantastic reviews of this pension, I assumed we would at least have a hot shower and decent towels. Honestly, given the price, I would not stay here again. No soap in the bathroom; holes in the coarse, obviously ancient towels; lukewarm water in the showers. I wouldn't rate it so badly but that for $30 more you can stay in an international chain hotel with better standards. Sorry Alemana!
Pension Alemana gave us a very convenient and affordable offer (pay 2 nights, stay 3). The staff is very friendly and service-oriented. The place is very clean, well-kept and charming. It is very well-located: it is only a few minutes away from the plaza de Armas. It’s peaceful and has beautiful views of the city. We really enjoyed our stay there!!
great little hotel, with a stunning view and warm welcome from the staff and management. We forgot a golden chain in the room and were so happy to find it back, 4 days later, upon returning from Macchu Pichu! Nice breakfast choice with a view over the city.
I was recommended this hotel by a friend who had stayed here before and I wasn't dissapointed. This is a really nice hotel in a good and safe location, 10-15mins walk from the Plaza de Armas. There's a nice breakfast in the morning with the staff very friendly and helpful. In total I stayed for 4nights. I booked the room through the hotel website with Cesar being really good at answerring e-mails. It's also only a 20min walk to Sacsayhuaman which is great with the rooms clean and also having a safe. I would stay here again and would certainly recommend a stay.
We ended up staying in Cusco longer than planned originally so booked this hotel last minute. I think it is a good solid place to stay but was not my favorite. The gardens are beautiful. The breakfast room has a good view. Breakfast was large. Our room was near metal stairs though and people going up and down them was very noisy. I also found the beds and bedding to be less comfortable than other places. More hard than plush. Our room was very clean. The staff were friendly and there is a small kitchen with a fridge which was helpful. You have to buzz every time to get in and out of the building so it feels safe and secure. The staff called a taxi for us which was helpful. The hotel (but not the rooms) are decorated with angels and demon figures. Some might find this interesting and it might freak other people out. I lean toward the “interesting” side. The street was fairly quiet. We generally walked to and from the hotel but one thing to keep in mind if not taking a taxi is that it is a lot of stairs.…
I spent a lot of time picking a hotel in Cusco and I wasn’t disappointed! This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. A high quality hotel with great service. The attached restaurant/cafe, 7&7, offers good food and a great view of the city.
Wonderful little place set high in the Cusco area. Walking distance to all of the local cultural sites, square, markets and cafes. Lovely breakfast and cafe with views that are breathtaking Garden area is lovely. There is an area to have cocktails and enjoy reading or conversation while viewing Cusco. Service amazing, tea and water available 24/7. Pisco Sours were spectacular! Highly recommend this gem! We do a lot of traveling, this fit our style perfectly. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We stayed here for a week in the matrimonial suite. Room was pretty big (1 king sized bed and an extra single bed). Wifi was generally okay throughout the hotel although you need to switch servers when in different parts to get the best connection. Hot water worked well throughout our stay although there was 1 night where it was barely warm - I think that was a particularly cold night (0 degrees) so perhaps it affected the heater. Free tea and fruit is provided, the latter an absolute lifesaver during chilly nights. Breakfast was nice - there was both regular and whole meal bread, quinoa pancakes (my favourite) mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs. The cafe (breakfast area in the morning) also provides stunning views over the city! The staff there were really warm and friendly especially the senora who was preparing food in the morning :) To improve though, I think more variety with the food would be appreciated. After a couple of days, seeing the same thing every morning can be quite a drag even if it’s good. My girlfriend wasn’t too keen on eating the same stuff by the 5th day. Location wise, the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the main plaza. This was good as there were lots of festivals going on throughout the day and hence staying here allowed us to get a quiet and comfortable rest without being too far from the action. The hotel also helps booking tours including Machu Picchu which is very convenient. They also stored our luggage for free when we visited MP. Overall, we had a pleasant stay here and I recommend this place to prospective travellers. …
The staff sent a car to pick us up at the airport. My wife suffered some altitude sickness and was in bed the entire first day -- very sick, but the staff was very helpful. they spoke perfect English and were eager to help with directions or reservations. It is located in a very nice, safe neighborhood slightly off the path from the busy tourist area, but just by a couple blocks, so easy to get to all the restaurants, bars and trinket shops you could ever want. Also, just a couple blocks down the hill from the amazing Saqsewaman. The following morning we were off on a tour at 7am but breakfast was ready and very good with a good selection. We were able to leave our bags with them overnight when we visited Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. When we arrived back, our bags were waiting in our room, and the day they again ordered us a car and helped us on our way at 5am. The layout is a bit of a labyrinth, which was quaint, no elevators. The rooms are basic, our "matrimonial bed" was two doubles pushed together, and the rooms were a bit like a high-end hostel, but very clean, and a good deal for the money. All-in-all, a good deal, great location, and excellent service.…
