Was supposed to stay at the hostel but due to a water leakage was here, had a great room with a view. Was a bit chilly and the heating was controlled by the hotel but it did warm up through the night but I can imagine in the colder times of the year it could get challenging. It was clean and quiet. The best bit was the breakfast, which was an amazing spread with a huge variety and set upstairs in a quaint part of the hotel. The place was like a random Swiss chalet that had arrived and been attached to a church pulpit (reception had a rather elaborate carved wood office). Staff were helpful and efficient, and it was on a street with a number of great places to eat, although you walk straight into the one way road as the pavement is somewhat lacking due to the width of the road! Just watch out you don't get run over. Definitely would go back but would bring a hot water bottle if it were a colder time of year.

Very nice and cozy colonial hotel. We had a wooden balcony with an overlook of Cuzco. Very close to a few important sites. Room had wooden floor and Peru paintings. Very nice stay overall! Typical breakfast for Peru tourists.

Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful space (think European villa), delicious breakfast, walking distance to lots of attractions, and gorgeous city. Some of the rooms have incredible views. My wife and I honeymooned here and loved this space so much we changed our plans to come back!

How is this considered a hostal? The rooms are private. Private and clean bathrooms. Good breakfast is included, includes eggs and little hot dogs. Its soooo close to the plaza de armas. Water was hot and good water pressure. Great view because its on a hill. It's quiet too. Cheap laundry services. And the premises are so beautiful! It should be much more expensive than it is this is a hotel quality place.

Room Tip: The only rooms that probably don't have a good view are at the very bottom of the property.

Amaru Colonial is a great choice when staying in Cusco. It has clean, comfortable rooms and a beautiful courtyard and view. Amaru Colonial offers a phenomenal breakfast (starting at 5:30am) and serves delicious coffee. Very convenient location close to restaurants and shops. Amaru Colonial offered 7 minute complementary massages during our stay as well as mate de coca (tea) and hot water in the lobby. If it’s your first day in Cusco, make sure you relax to acclimate to the altitude (don’t underestimate the effects of the high altitude). Also, must visit the San Pedro market during your stay!
