Located only three blocks from the Plaza de Armas in the city of Cusco, El Balcon has a commanding view of the entire city, cathedrals, churches, mountains and the Ausangate glacier. El Balcon is a renovated colonial Casona that dates back to the 1630s built atop the preceding Inca terraces. Inca stone work and colonial balustrades mesh harmoniously around terraced gardens creating an atmosphere that is beautiful, historic and authentically Peruvian. Some of our amenities and services include free airport transportation, complimentary hot breakfast and buffet and laundry. We are happy to help with any travel arrangements so that our guests can experience the best that Cusco and the Sacred Valley have to offer. At El Balcon we strive to provide our guests with the highest level of hospitality so that they have all they need to feel comfortable at our family establishment. All room rates include 2 guests, additional guests will be an added charge.

If you like quiet and clean, this is the place for you. My mom and I just spent four nights here and it was a great experience. When we arrived the check in was seamless, and we were also able to check in early because our room just happened to be ready.

The staff is SO nice. Anything we needed, they were there for. The room was cleaned daily, restocked with water and they even offer a laundry service for a fee. We took advantage of that, totally worth having clean clothes for the remained of our trip for such a small price.

Also, the front desk staff was always helpful as well as the wonderful people at the area we had breakfast. As breakfast is included, take advantage and definitely get the scrambled eggs.

Another thing that was really nice is the availability of coco leaf tea at all times of day and night. I had a terrible time with altitude sickness while in Cusco and it was really nice to be able to have a cup of that tea.

If you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and I forgot to mention - the grounds are BEAUTIFUL.

This is a rustic, clean, lovely, great value for money place to stay at while in Cusco. The rooms are small but comfortable and nicely decorated. We really emjoyed the included breakfast which is a huge step up from pre-cooked breakfast available at most hotels. They provide a small is menu but it freshly cooked to order and there is a selction of fresh fruits, yoghurt, house-made granola(very good) and jams to select from. Laundry is great price and service is good. Great location, few minutes from the central plaza. Things to Note - it is a bit of an uphill climb to the hotel from the plaza. ALso wifi is poor in the rooms but works fine in cafetria. No TV in the rooms. Great to disconnect and enjoy nature.

El Balcón is perched above Cusco, and the views ... particularly at night .. are wonderful.

The staff at the Balcón was very accommodating. We kept luggage there, for example, for several days as we headed up to Machu Picchu. And even though we came late to dinner, they made an extra effort to cook some delicious chicken soup for us.

The gardens are picturesque, and the rooms are unlike others you'll find. And the main square is only about 2k away.

It's on a narrow busy road, so you're going to feel a little rushed with your luggage while coming and going. Our room didn't have any temperature controls, so if it's going to be cool at night, you might ask about which rooms stay warm.

It is a very simple place, a hostel, as their door sign says, not a hotel. I booked a slightly more expensive room with a balcony and expected to have a private balcony, but the balcony goes along the second floor of the house. The balcony has comfortable sofas, a charming view of the garden and an amazing view of the city's roofs, but no privacy. The breakfast which is included consists of coffee, bread, jam and butter and some fruits. For eggs, paincakes, or yogurt there is an additional charge. The restaurant was not open the hours past breakfast when I stayed there. The Internet was sporadic, which was a huge inconvenience. The room itself is big, but very basic and cold (i think they have heaters available). Bathroom looks bare and uninviting. When I first got in the room, there were two sets of towels in the bathroom, but when I returned in the evening, one set was removed. The staff was helpful when asked for help, they assisted me with the luggage as there are steps everywhere, and called me a taxi a couple of times. The street is quiet, there are no vendors on the street as in the center, small tiendas and pharmacies are a couple of minutes away. Overall, the place was good for two nights.

Dear Anatolia! Thank you for your words! It's been a while since his visit and several things have changed as COVID restrictions have been lifted and tourism in the city is on the rise. Breakfast is included and includes a hot option. All our rooms have heaters and as usual the attention of the staff is warm and cheerful when serving them. Wish you all the best ever. Paid for a room with two beds was put into a room with three beds which left us no room to maneuver! They charge for water! Supposedly breakfast included, have an early flight, asked for a box breakfast to go, was told, not included! No management on site… Just receptionist, so no one to address your concerns because apparently the receptionist is in capable of doing so. When I told her I paid for a room with two beds her response was, it is the same size room only with three beds! Really?! Had I known this property was on a steep hill and granted it’s Cusco there’s lots of hills, I never would’ve rented here to begin with. There are much better places throughout Cusco much better accommodations that cost far less than this overpriced hostel. The only reason I booked a room here was because we stayed two nights at El Albergue you the sister property in Ollantaytambo (Beautiful property well run, management on site, no complaints enjoyed our stay there) so I assumed I was getting the same level of professionalism and comfort at the sister property here in Cusco. Suffice to say Wendy dropped the ball at this property. So my advice unless you’re backpacker that likes paying for an overprice hostile stay far away do you have much better options in Cusco, sadly.

El Balcon is not right in the centre, which makes it a lot quieter. We loved the rooms around a central garden. Comfortable but not luxurious. Very clean, well decorated and with good bed and bathroom. Perhaps a little small - but manageable. Breakfast in the ground floor dining room is excellent. We also had dinner there one night to stay out of the rain, the the offerings were basic but very good. It's only a 10 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas - so within reach of Cusco's many attractions. And the price is very reasonable. Very helpful staff as well - who can help organize excursions (with very good drivers) into the Sacred Valley.

This quaint place is tucked in the heart of Cusco. You enter the charming enclosed courtyard with its wooden doors and stucco architecture and lovely plants that adds to the experience. Our room was so cozy with warm heavy blankets and a heater for the chilly evenings. Hospitality included two bottles of filtered water, oranges, as well as laundry service. All in all the staff was so friendly and accommodating to our large group of 16 for our four night stay. The morning breakfast spread included coffee, fresh fruits and granola, but also a menu of items that the kitchen staff Jaunita and Diane made quickly. You must try the pancakes! Delicious. They also make dinner as well. One night they fed our large group three different choices of dinner and we all got our food within minutes of each other. That's incredible for a small kitchen. These two women are very skilled at what they do.
This was a wonderful stay at El Balcon. We highly recommend this place.

We stayed at El Balcon for five days before our Inca Trail Trek and then one night on the return. It is a lovely, cozy hotel with a beautiful garden and very close to the center of the city. The breakfast provide lots of choices and the chef was very accommodating with out food allergies. The dining area was great and varies hot drinks were available all day. I left laundry to be done while I was on the Inca trail and it was ready when I returned (and very inexpensive). The staff was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and will return to El Balcon on our next visit to Cusco.

We arrived at 6am and checked in (also purchased the previous night to be sure we could access the room immediately). They helped us with baggage and a small heater. The breakfast was great (and started earlier than is typical in Cusco, which was really nice!). Pretty courtyard and views from the room. Tea was available all day/night - even at 2am when I had some altitude issues in the middle of the night. Front desk gave great recommendations as well.
