I arrived here for my final 8 days in Cusco after hiking the SalkantayTrek through the Andes, From the moment I arrived I was treated like family felt right at home, I had suffered an ankle & Back injury during my trek and they were getting worse so the owner Guido had a doctor come and pick me up and take me to a nearby clinic / Hospital to get Xrays & a Dr. consultation. My room was clean with a large bathroom, cable TV & a safe and was more then adequate. Breakfast & hot coffee or coca tea were served every morning downstairs in the nice little dining area and was always great local style breakfasts. Anything I needed at anytime all I had to do was ask Guido or Ruben and it was taken care of promptly & with pleasure. Theyre Parrot in the courtyard was an added bonus as for the first 2 days when I would walk through I kept hearing someone talking to me but didn't see anyone until I realized it was the Parrot, could sing and say Hola! everytime I walked in. I'm going back next year for another trek in Peru and will stay here again for sure -Jonathan Angelo…
My wife and I stayed here for a few nights, and we would definitely stay again. The bed was comfy, and the shower warm (most of the time). WIFI would come in and out but the staff took care of it when I asked. They were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Our flight landed in Cusco at 5 am and we were even able to check in and take a nap before exploring the city, which was nice given the time of day. The owner also has a parrot and a cat, which can sometimes be found in the courtyard chilling. If you like animals like we do, it made for an entertaining stay. Breakfast was nice and homemade, and they offered tea and coffee at any time. The only downside is that it is a 30 minute or so walk from the Plaza de Armas, but it is a straight shot on the Ave El Sol so don't be worried about your safety, even at night.…
Nice place nice staff. the hostel has a nice outdoor space. The room was nice though it did not come with any soap or shampoo. Wi-Fi was good. They do offer breakfast. The gentleman at the welcome desk was very nice and took lots of time working with me helping me though we did not speak the same language which was greatly appreciated. The only thing was that my room was very cold and there was no way to heat it
Hotel was a decent location for the inca express bus to Puno early in the morning, it's a little walk to restaurants etc and rooms are quite dated, but they are clean and the showers are good. For the price payed it was all in all very reasonable
Stayed here for 5 nights and were very impressed and surprised Samichay is classed as a hostel. All areas clean, constant hot water, plentiful and varied breakfast, hot drinks available all day, on site kitchen ( we did not use), good wifi throughout. Host friendly and helpful - arranged Machu Picchu trip for us and got up to prepare 3.00 breakfast. Secure on site parking for our motor bike and side car.
The staff was lovely helpful and amazing! Treated me like I was home! I can not wait to come back! Super close and easy to get around and made getting to machu picchu very simple and safe. Thanks a million :)
We requested hotel transportation in advance and it was very convenient to have a driver at the airport that did not charge us an arm and a leg. The location is within walking distance to Plaza de Arms and all other tourist sites in Cusco. The building, rooms, beds and bathrooms were clean the entirety of our stay. The employees are professional and incredibly friendly. There is a cat and parrot that decorate the outdoor lawn area, they are adorable and make the stay very unique. Would recommend Hostal Samichay to anyone!
Rooms were comfortable and staff help was outstanding. It is within easy walking distance of restaurants and not too far from the main square and the historical centre. The breakfast was plentiful and good. We were able to leave our luggage in storage while we went off to hike the Inca Trail and during our trip to Manu National Park. Each time we had to get up at the crack of dawn, Guido and staff were up to see us off, and organised for an early taxi to the airport when we left. Definitely the staff went out of their way to make this a home from home! Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Cusco.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is served, not buffet style. It is good food and coffee. We were there 5 nights between excursions to Inca trail and Manu. If you are looking for really helpful people to look after you and a homely base to arrive back to, this place is perfect. Guido (accompanied by his mischievous cat) were always willing to help and make things more comfortable and easier, even at 3 am - I have no idea when he actually slept! Great stay!
I originally booked for four nights. The check-in was great and the staff are extremely helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and wifi was good too. But the walls and windows let in every single sound from the road and from other rooms, so it was hard to sleep. I left after one night
