It's a modern building attached to an late colonial building. It's like a nice Holliday Inn. Room service is fast, but the food is kinda bubba gump shrimp. The breakfast buffet is off-strip Vegas. In the 70's. Coffee was good, tho. People always complain about loud Americans overseas, but Germans can be loud and obnoxious too. A new Marriott just opened in Arequipa, but we had already made our bookings. It looks great, tho. The museum with the frozen Inca girl is a must see. The major baby alpaca stores all have flagships in AQP. Great vegan sushi near the Santa Catalina monastery. Interpol has an HQ in Arequipa. Great anticuchos at Tanta.
The entrance is amazing. Beautiful breakfast. Rooms are very Basic and without any Attention to Detail. Staff is quite arrogant. Only the Bell Boys are top notch. The Location is perfect. Only 5 minutes Walk from the place des Armes away and the beautiful cathedral.
We stayed in the Matrimonial Suite. It was beautiful with a rounded stone ceiling. The bathroom was fine, although the shower took a little while to heat up. The location was very good as we were minutes away from all the restaurants and the beautiful Cathedral Basilica and Plaza de Armas. The one big downside is that the breakfast area is the courtyard in the middle of the suites. Additionally, they started playing music for breakfast at around 6:30 - 7:00 AM. If you are not an early bird, this will create frustrations as it did for us. It got very noisy early in the morning. We asked the front desk to arrange a reservation at the local restaurant and we only learned that she could not get us in 15 minutes before we were scheduled to get there. That was frustrating as if we knew before hand, we would have tried to walk there and make reservations earlier in the day.…
Our stay was comfortable and close to everything we wanted to do. The place was clean and staff was courteous. Breakfast was delicious and the seating area was a nice touch. My husband got up early and enjoyed tea in the different seating areas. He enjoyed the grounds immensely.
While the ancient areas such as the lobby / restaurant / terrasse were really pretty, the rooms are not. Rooms are located in a modern building, and have cheap materials and furniture. We booked a suite thinking it would be nice, but it was not looking like one. Price was relatively reasonable tough, but we thought it was not really great value for money, and we would have been happier to pay more for a real 5-star place.
We arrived in Arequipa at 0500. Obviously they couldn't check us in, however they allowed us to lounge in the lobby and have breakfast that morning, since we weren't going to be eating on our last morning. All of the staff were wonderful. The room was great and clean. The location wasn't very far from the Plaza de Armas and the property itself was amazing. Pay the extra few dollars to stay here in the future.
This hotel is beautiful! Worth a visit just to see the common areas. The rooms aren't exceptional but very good, and the location is great, just outside of the center which is in walking distance but just in a quieter area then the center.
This hotel looks wonderful when you arrive - the entrance lounge area and reception are beautiful. It is also well located for easy access to the Plaza Mayor. Our rooms were fine - nothing wrong with them though pretty basic. Found the tiny bottle of water quite irritating. Breakfast was ok - nothing special and disappointing that it felt so ‘standard’ - no real use of exotic fruits or much local cheese etc. and a cappuccino costs extra. It was all fine, but for the reputation and brag sheet we had expected more.
This hotel was listed as a premium hotel but turned out to be a 3-star hotel at best. My wife woke up with a rash and bites on her body. The staff insisted that it was food allergy. We went to the doctor to confirm that it was insect bites. The hotel then reluctantly to change our room. We told that that they need to thoroughly clean the hotel and get rid of the mattress. They did not seem to care. I just hope that you don’t get the room/bed with bed bugs.
Beautiful contemporary hotel. Camila and Daniel in the reception very professional, Jhonny, Karen and Evelin made us feel like home and super pampered. We can’t wait to be back and bring friends. The breakfast is exquisite
