I had the misfortune of altered travel plans due to the covid-19 pandemic. Myself along with 6 others got stuck in Arequipa trying to get to the embassy in Lima and stumbled upon the Wyndham hotel. I can not stress this enough - everything about our stay was top notch. The staff were amazing. The manager George catered to our every need. He speaks fluent english and was at our disposal at all times. Because we were stranded for an indefinite period of time, he was able to give us some deals to make it more affordable. He had staff run to the market for us for essentials as we could not leave the hotel. When there was suspicion of a potential case in the hotel (never tested positive), he moved us to a more comfortable room further away. I'm yet to see a manager at a hotel more dedicated to the satisfaction of his guests. Thank you George from all of us. The food was great. There were plenty of options for a reasonable price. Essentially, you could spend what you wanted to spend. Whether it be 25 SOL for pasta, to 50+ SOL for alpaca or other finer dishes. Walker was our server for most meals, and was nothing short of incredible. Very personable and great at his job. We looked forward to him serving us each day. You're the man Walker! All other restaurant staff gave exceptional service - we just didn't get their names. The rooms were cleaned every day and looked just as good as the day we arrived. The housekeeping staff were very friendly at all encounters. They wore gloves and masks at all times, giving us comfort knowing all precautions were being taken. The front desk were extremely helpful in navigating us through any issues or dilemmas we ran into throughout the 2 weeks whether it be cell phone troubles, or finding our way to the local market when it was permitted. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The hotel was running minimal events as there were only 12 guests through the state of emergency but we were very comfortable and pleased. The pool is great, the grounds were well kept and the gym was a nice way to kill time. The 100 year old turtle and 4 alpacas were a very nice touch. Thank you to the Wyndham for turning an unfortunate time into an unforgettable experience. - The 7 Canadians…
What a lovely hotel! Our room was huge and super clean, the location could not be better for walking around town, the food was delicious, the decor sublime, and the staff was super-nice. If you can tear yourself away from the reception rooms and patios, be sure to wander out behind the hotel. They have a 100 year old tortoise (plus some that are not that old) and at least two alpacas who are happy to see visitors. This is it: the total Peruvian experience. We loved it!
What a great hotel in beautiful location in the lovely city of Arequipa. All the staff were great, very friendly. Careful don’t buy the extra water which at £4 is more than the normal 37p! Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. The rooms were superb, with plenty of room. Plus Alpacas and a Tortoise in the gardens. Didn’t try outdoor swimming pool
We have just spent three very enjoyable days at this marvellous hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were a pleasure to get to know with my broken Spanish language skills. Being located away from the Plaza de Armas is in my opinion a benefit because it can be very noisy at times. By contrast the hotel is next to a park, has its own grounds so is a lot quieter. You also benefit from the lovely pool, see photos attached. We ate in the restaurant too, the food was lovely. I was actually ill before we arrived and nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant staff to make meva soup, not on the menu to make me feel better. When we return to Arequipa we will definitely use this hotel again. I would highly recommend it.
Stayed here for two nights between Nazca and Puno. Very nice, secure facility a few blocks from restaurants and tourists sites in Arequipa. Caution was given by many people here that at night take a taxi from the hotel and have the restaurant call a taxi back . We walked it back one night and it ok but a poor decision. The hotel grounds were well maintained and the hotel was clean. We had a jr suite and there was plenty of room, bathroom was large and everything worked properly. Only complaint is that the tv, that had many stations, it would have been nice if one entertainment station was in English. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The pool was beautiful. A good choice
