Found in a guide book on Cuenco-oddly noted for its showers. No lie, this place has awesome showers-lots of water pressure and lots of hot water. Really remarkable. Breakfast (included) served on the rooftop terrace-so lovely. Remarkable personal service from front desk guy, Henry. Highly recommend
Fabulous staff. So extremely kind and helpful. Answered so many questions. Called up taxis for us and made sure correct taxi arrived and let taxi driver know where we wanted to go. All front desk staff spoke English well. Complimentary breakfast in terrace was pretty good. Was a great start to our morning. Our room was large and beautiful with a fabulous view of the 3 blue cathedral domes. So much activity within walking distance of this hotel. We felt safe staying here. I definitely recommend it.
I loved the Los Balcones. It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Cuenca within a short walking distance of the city center. The buffet breakfast on the rooftop of the hotel was one of the best I had in Ecuador with a broad array of food- eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, cereal, croissants, juice, etc. The service was also great. The hotel helped me arrange a tour to Cajas NP, a Covid test for my return to the U.S., a taxi to the airport and a number of other things while I was there. Dinner and lunch in the beautiful hotel lobby area were both great and were excellent values, as was the hotel overall. My room was large and modern with a huge shower. It was quiet and very comfortable. Can't say enough about the hotel. And just a great value at about $50/night. You can find cheaper hotels in Cuenca, but none that is a better value. This is a true 4* hotel experience at about a 2* price.…
This hotel is just excellent! The room with the balcony upstairs was large, the bed was comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet while situated at the heart of the city. The bed was also heavenly! As for the location, it is located on a busy corner in the city that is one of the cleanest that I have ever traveled to! The bustling center is friendly and safe within easy walking distance to many beautiful courtyards and the river. We rented a car which was particularly nice for venturing into the Andes and outer lying communities but Cuenca itself is an amazing place. The Concierge at the hotel was amazing and gave us many tips for restaurants and local culture that we would not have found in our own google searches. He saved us a lot of time by finding craft markets closer to us than what we had originally planned based on our own research. I would never bother staying anywhere else in Cuenca after this experience.…
This beautiful hotel has a special style that has an antique and homey feel. The rooms were so spacious, the bathrooms have been renovated, and breakfast has a beautiful patio that lets all of the light in. Everyone was super nice and always able to help. LOCATION is amazing, in the heart of cuencas city it is center to anything you want to do. They can also help you with finding tours if interested, i did one and it was unforgettable! If youre debating between hotels, try this one. Food 10/10 too!
This is simple: the best place to stay in Cuenca. The premises are very clean, prices are affordable, and its colonial style combined with modern features make this hotel a cozy place to stay. Staff is professional and kind. Location is close to everything. We do recommend Los Balcones. No complaints.
My husband and I stayed at Los Balcones for 8 nights. It was a lovely colonial hotel with nice architectural details which make it special. We were in room 11 ( up about 28 steps, not for those with mobility issues); the room was large with a bathroom with possibly the best hot shower on the continent. The hotel was extremely clean throughout. The breakfast was a mixed bag. When we ordered off the menu it was perfect, hot items were hot and cold cold. It was another story with the buffet which starts at 7AM. The buffet was poorly attended which I suspect was because of covid and the limited number of guests. But with the buffet, the hot items were in a warmer and unless you ate at 7AM, the hot and cold items were lukewarm. Henry, is the go-to manager who answered all of our questions and concerns very professionally. He mans the front desk, is present most of the time and is very capable and willing to make everything right. The hotel is in the perfect spot, about 3 blocks to the beautiful center square and 7 blocks to the river with plenty of restaurant and shopping options. Everything is walkable. In closing, I would not let breakfast be a deciding factor. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Cuenca and at Los Balcones and would return in a heartbeat if we revisit Ecuador. Thank you Henry for all of your help! Megan and Carl…
Near everything, and very safe to walk around. This property was charming and had a lot of character. The only drawback is the lack of an elevator. I stayed in a first floor handicapped room, which was enormous and comfortable with a huge shower. While unfortunately, we were the only travelers there at the end of June, that meant we received a lot of personal attention from the awesome staff. A special shout-out to Wally, the friendly and highly talented chef who created Michelin star-quality meals. (Hey Wally, the Tampa Bay Lightning just beat the Montreal Canadians for the Stanley Cup😃).
«+» Beautiful hotel building both outside and inside. Inside the hotel, the space is decorated very nicely. Helpful and friendly front desk staff. Great hotel location right in the Historic City Center. There are a lot of shops and restaurants around, everything around is safe and convenient. «-» The room I got was not in the best condition. It felt very dusty and dirty there. It definitely needs to be updated. The bed in my room was not really comfortable, the mattress was hard. The bathroom was tiny. I did not like the bathroom amenities, they were of cheap quality. Safe was very small. Wi-Fi was working slowly, when it was working. There was no elevator from what I saw.
We stayed here a few nights in January, 2020, and we loved it. It was a beautiful building and everyone was kind and friendly and helpful. Our room was so nice with a comfortable bed and a really nice bathroom. Everything was clean and we enjoyed our stay very much. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of food. It was an easy walk to everything we wanted to see and do in Cuenca. We would definitely stay here again.
