The restaurant and bar is really very nice and is contributing a lot to the atmosphere of the place. Our room (n5) was in the back so we did not have too much problems with the noise of the restaurant (even when sleeping early). But isolation from other rooms (squeaking stairs, phone calls) and outside (church bells and dogs) is...

We spent nearly a week here and it was a great home base for seeing Cuenca and the surrounding area. The rooms are clean, but there isn't much to them. Basically just a bed and a bathroom. But since we didn't travel to Ecuador to hang out in our room, that was fine by us. Towels were available for a...

The atmosphere was great and the food in their restaurant was delicious. Breakfast on the small side. Room clean and okey. We had a good time and didn't have a problem with the noise (we were there on a weekend!). You can hear people having fun but not to loud or long. But surely not the place to go if...

We have been very disappointed by this hostel. Most of the rooms are above the restaurant/cafe opened from 8am to 12pm and you can hear everything. Plus on our first night we had bed bugs in our room, they changed us room in the middle of the night but in the other room there was a horrible smell coming from...

I like to come stay here every so often as I am living outside Cuenca. It is always clean, the staff are great. You can get cold beer, meet locals, and travelers alike. The prices are very cheap for a bed, and the food is pretty good, close to downtown Cuenca, and other sights!

We spent 2 nights here. Its located in a nice colonial building 3 blocks away from the main plaza. Around are many restaurants and bars. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and big. At night it can be noisy because of the restaurant inside the hostal.

Today we stopped in a La Cigale as we know from previous stay here it is one of the ways to get a 'private bus' that travels to Vilcabamba. It was wonderful,to,see some previous faces still working there. We stayed for, lunch in their restaurant.. A veggie wrap, and a chicken wrap... Yummy as usual. The hostel is within a few minutes...

We have stayed in several hotels in Cuenca but La Cigale is the best bang for the buck. Rates may have gone up since our stay but the price of around $30US per night including a hearty breakfast is hard to beat. Payment is in cash and if you choose a room well in the back of the establishment you...

This is a hostel with clean and nice rooms, comfortable beds, tasty food in the restaurant and friendly staff! And the breakfast is included to the price. It has a good location, close to restaurants, markets and museums. Stay here if you ever go to Cuenca.
