Fantastic service, wonderful people, can’t do enough for you. Food was excellent in the restaurant, and we started off with drinks up on the terrace under a perfect evening sky. Restaurants nearby, brilliant. When we left for the day, the individual responsible for rooms did a spectacular job of folding all of our clothing that we had spoon about. It was amazing. Everything about this hotel is perfect. I’ve stayed in keto many times, and this is the best one so far. Brilliant to be in old town.

The Plaza Grande Hotel is located right next to the presidential Palace in historic downtown Quito. It’s a very convenient and easy walk to most of the historical, colonial sites in the town. It is a good 20 to 30 minutes to the more modern areas of the city, which will have more restaurants and larger international hotels. The downside of staying downtown is that the area clears out at night. While it felt very safe and well policed during the day, we chose not to adventure on foot at night for safety reasons.
We had a room with a city view, and one with a back view. Both were very spacious, with a generous sitting area adjacent to the room and bathroom. There was a round table with chairs, couch, coffee table, and an armoire in the sitting area, making it very comfortable and inviting. The King bed was large, but the mattress is very hard. Some might say too hard! Bathrooms were very functional, with a large tub and shower. Daily housekeeping was very well done.
The hotel has a casual restaurant next to the lobby, serving breakfast and dinner of typical Ecuadorian food. The only drawback of the hotel was the lack of nice lounge areas. There is a small sitting area by the reception, but other than that, there isn’t much space to just hang out outside of the hotel room.
Altogether, we enjoyed our stay in this boutique hotel, and recommend it as a base in the downtown historical area.

Everything about this hotel is 5 star. Perfect location on the Plaza Grande, this 17th century villa turned hotel has only 16 rooms. All lovely suites with nice views of the plaza and surrounding buildings. Most rooms have balconies. Gorgeous heavy, carved wood door at entry and bathroom. Large, well-appointed bathrooms. Upon arrival at your room you have fresh rose, bottle of wine, chocolates. Very comfortable beds and pillows. The staff goes above and beyond in all depoartments: restaurant suggestions; making reservations for meals, day-trips, cabs; happily answering questions. Staff will even offer to walk you to places outside the hotel , in addition to giving diections! Everything spotless and well maintained. Very nice breakfasts in dining room overlooking the Plaza; fresh fruit (pineapple to die for!), fresh juices; pastries; eggs cooked to order. Everyone from front desk to doorman to maids and servers make you feel welcome, relaxed.

We spent two days in Quito following our Galapagos cruise and booked this very expensive hotel as a splurge to end our vacation. On the plus side, it is very beautifully decorated, our room was quite large and there were lots of fluffy towels and nice toiletries. We received a bottle of wine and some chocolate when we checked in, and the people at the front desk were very nice. But the negatives certainly overshadowed the positives, considering how much we paid for the room. The air conditioner was barely adequate, although we turned it down as low as possible, so we spent two uncomfortable nights. One of the main reasons for booking the hotel was to eat in their lovely restaurant, We even thought we made a reservation for our first night. However. when we checked in , we discovered that the restaurant had been closed for months and the only available restaurant was little better than a coffee shop, although they did serve dinners. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was very limited, with most of the other offerings an additional cost. Even at more modest hotels, we have enjoyed very nice buffets with many choices, but not at this hotel. And finally, our trip ended on a very negative note. The hotel is on a pedestrian street so we, with all of our luggage, walked to the corner with the bellman to meet our car. He didn't have a cart so we carried everything. While we were standing there someone took one of our bags, unfortunately the one with the presents we were bringing home to our family. The hotel never bothered to get in touch with me afterwards, although I guess technically it was not entirely their fault, even though they walk guests to the corner on a regular basis. But an expression of regret would have been appropriate and much appreciated. I really intended to give the hotel a “poor" rating, but decided in the end for “average” but only because the people at the front desk were so pleasant. But we would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

This immaculate and elegant hotel is the best location, none excepted, from which to explore Quito’s Centro Histórico. The view of the beautiful Plaza Grande from our large and comfortable room was superb, and we thoroughly enjoyed the macarons, chocolates, and wine that was a surprise welcome gift when we arrived, tired from a day of travel. All staff were warm, courteous, efficient, and professional and we felt completely safe. We ate in the hotel restaurant and found it excellent, especially since we were tired after a day of sightseeing and did not want to go out. Many thanks to the front desk employee who so kindly arranged for a driver/licensed guide, Luis, to pick us up on the day we checked out. Luis was an excellent driver and took us to our tour hotel (a large chain business hotel, fine but not nearly as great as Hotel Plaza Grande) to drop our luggage and then to all the sites outside the center we wanted to see. This was our first trip to South America and Hotel Plaza Grande was the perfect introduction to the continent, Ecuador, and Quito!

We had an excellent stay. We stayed two nights Oct 12-14. The location is unbeatable right on the main square, close to the all the major attractions and sites of the historical center. We had a very spacious and stately room (room 24) overlooking the main square bordered by the cathedral and the Presidential palace. The hotel is in a grand historic building. The breakfast was excellent. The staff is 1st class: friendly and very professional. Special thank you to Alex at the front desk for helping us find a tour at the last minute. We highly recommend this hotel.

Had a beautiful room with great views of the surrounding square. The room is large and well appointed. I found the staff to be incredibly helpful throughout my stay.
They greeted me with a delightful drink and there was a small selection of sweets in my room (in a cacao pod remnant-nice touch) along with a bottle of wine provided gratis.
The included breakfast is not a typical buffet but rather eggs to order along with fruits and breads provided as part of the meal. Very enjoyable. I also had a regular meal in their restaurant-the menu has a mix of traditional Ecuadorean foods and also some international options.
This was one of the finest hotels I stayed at while in Ecuador (Cuenca and Quito). Thank you to all the staff who made my stay memorable.

The hotel is located in the midle of the Historic district, in a very safe location - the Government office is 15 meters away. The room was very stylish, generous in size (as was the bathroom). Everything worked well. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The restaurant of the hotel served high quality meals. Definetly a good choice.

Service from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out was superior. All of the staff were extremely polite and more than willing to accommodate is with whatever we needed. The front desk receptionist went out of her way to find another room for us when we requested a room with a view, and also requested a late check out.
