We were greeted at the lodge with a refreshing drink, smile and a hug, which was very welcome after the walk up the mountain. The rooms were beautiful and there was a variety of sizes all with amazing views. The dining room was just outstanding and a very suitable place for yoga. Even with a group of us staying together... Our family of four (with a 4 year old and near 2 year old in tow) just had the honor and privilege to spend five nights at the Santa Lucia Cloud Forest Reserve and what an amazing experience we had. We have stayed at many so called “eco-lodges” over the years but this was the first that truly came the... More

You can choose dorm rooms ($35), double rooms with shared bathroom ($45) and the private beautiful builded and located cottages (Cabañas, $85)). The price includes 3 meals and you can hire a guide optionally. The food is good in particular in the evening, they also can prepare tasty vegetarian meals. The lodge is located 1920m above seas level on a... More

We came here as part of a university research module where we carried out our own projects. We stayed in the lodge in rooms of 2, 4 and 8 bedrooms. It's hard to imagine how they built the cabins and lodge at such high altitude and only using materials which surround it. It was amazing in the mornings and evenings... More

A beautiful place for trekking and bird watching with breathtaking views and wonderful staff. Can honestly say I would recommend it highly as its treasure is the solitude and the escape from your busy life. Thank you Pauline, marucio and the gang for a wonderful experience and I hope to see you again. Warmest regards Dr taha hadidy

It is hard to imagine how they managed to built such lovely cabins given the approx 400m altitude everything needs to come up by mule or be carried by hand. When the cloud clears, the view from the cabin and from the lodge is awe inspiring. Be prepared for no power in cabins - torch or candlelight after dark. This... More

We visited the Santa Lucia Cloud Forest Reserve (80 km NW of Quito) in March 2015, which was exactly the WRONG time to try to see birds, hike or stay dry. Despite this, the private cottages are AMAZING -- hand built, with beautiful wood -- hard to believe all the work that had to have gone into the construction. Likewise,... More

The cabins are genuinely one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever stayed in (including comparing to luxury resorts) and to a very high standard with large, artistically designed windows overlooking a cloud forest valley. No electricity and en suite showroom is very basic but with hot water. People are very friendly and our guide Eddy was brilliant -... More

Beautiful scenery, amazing staff, I have never been anywhere so spectacular. Gives a very refreshing concept on the success of Cloud Forest ecotourism outside the now degraded Mindo. Incredible birdwatching available even just from the lodge, though the many trails offer much more. And don't forget to play football with the staff!

Stayed for a couple of days after touring the country in May 2007, not 2013 as per the date of this review, can't recommend a visit here enough. We walked with a guide, Eduardo, and Pancho up the trail. This was approximately 4km long, and took us up to the lodge which is 2km up. The sights of the forest... More
